THIS COULD GET UGLY...
Nothing's more deadly than No Mercy. It's a new approach to ball technology and layouts that's simply better. The new HART core concept and Violent Response Reactive coverstock make it a killer on the backend. You can almost taste their fear. Bon Appetit.
TECHNOLOGY TURNS EVIL. The dominating Hammer Aggressive Reaction Technology (HART) core inside this killer makes it a feared competitor. Driven by simple layouts, its attack on the backend will show no mercy.
Hammer Aggressive Reaction Technology (HART)
Hammer is very pleased to introduce the new Hammer aggressive Reaction Technology (HART) core concept to the bowling industry. Developed by our team of design engineers, this radical new concept in bowling ball core design provides maximum performance without the need for exotic layouts and weight holes. It is that simple.
Combining the new HART core concept and Violent Response Reactive coverstock gives the bowler more aggressive hook motion and improved hitting power. This unique core concept delivers aggressive backend reaction by placing the pin at 1:30 with the HART in track (see Drilling #1).
The No Mercy is very simple to drill. For layout purposes, please use the plastic bag as a template.
The Perfect Scale™: Helping Bowlers Make Better Decisions. Because each manufacturer uses a different method for indicating a ball's hook potential, bowlingball.com developed a way for the consumer to compare bowling balls across all manufacturers.

This ball really hooks. I thought my Black Widow was a lot of ball. The No Mercy easily hooks 5-7 boards more than my Black Widow. I used the Number One layout, which is printed on the poly bag the ball comes in and left it with the box finish. On my league pattern, this ball makes me play about 5-7 boards left of where I line up with my Widow. Its ball motion is a good bit different as it makes a pretty strong move and is a more predictable move off the breakpoint than the Widow or Pain. I describe it as a strong curve on the backend. Even when it came in a little light, it had a way of pulling the pins off the deck. This is a great choice if you need more reaction than a Black Widow.

Take that information into account when you read this review.
I bought the No Mercy on the recommendation of my pro shop operator who has observed my game for more than five years. He's a young guy himself, a rev monster who has no problem generating back end. I'm older, slower (about 14-16 mph on average) and prefer an earlier rolling, arcing shot as opposed to a down and in.
We drilled the No Mercy as recommended on the plastic bag, straight over the label and left the surface in factory condition. We zero-pitched the oval thumb hole to promote an earlier release and went with a slightly longer span to generate more lift/revs.
On a medium house shot (39 feet, buffed, dry edges with a small hold area in the middle), I struggled to find a nice balance between over/under reaction. Now, realizing that this is a typical league condition and I book above 210, that says something to me.
The ball simply was not as predictable and easy to change hand position or release points with. If I turned on the ball, it had a tendency to overreact. If I didn't hit it that hard, it had a tendency to under react just as much.
So, without dissing Hammer's work (I own several of their products!), I'd say this is a ball for people who depend on just one release and vary speed, or for those who can generate lots of room and then speed up as lanes break down. That pretty much defines a high rev/high speed player.

I have never seen a ball hook at my feet and go straight all the way down on heavier oil patterns. wow.
this ball has no length, and could potentially make robert smith leave a 5-7-10 every ball if he went to hammer. that is how weak this ball hits.
i have not thrown nor seen one of these balls that anyone or myself have liked.
