Ever hear the phrase

"NOTHING HITS LIKE A HAMMER!"

Black Hammer is the original hard hitter. This high quality ball pioneered two piece urethane bowling balls and started the Hammer WINNING Tradition. Ideal for medium to oily lanes.

The Perfect Scale™: Helping Bowlers Make Better Decisions. Because each manufacturer uses a different method for indicating a ball's hook potential, bowlingball.com developed a way for the consumer to compare bowling balls across all manufacturers.

My dad used this 30 years ago when it first came out. This was a $200 ball back then, but he got ours for $75 because it was classified as a 'factory defect' Biggest mistake they made. When he updated his arsenal with the Hammer RazyrBlade, I snagged this one from him before he threw it out or gave it away. I plugged and redrilled the thumb, put in less used inserts and it fits perfectly. I can see the consistent marks from where he threw it. A few chunks missing, but they all wear out eventually. Despite saying it is a urethane ball, it is actually rubber. I use it mainly as a spare ball because it soaks up and holds the oil, making it slide all the way over. I don't get as much hook as I could when I throw it as my main, but I get enough to satisfy me. For being 40+ years old, this is the best quality ball I have, and I have some pretty high dollar balls. They just aren't made like they used to be.

If you can ever find one, get it, keep it, hang on to it.

I found one at a garage sale once, the guy gave it to me. I had one already, so I gave it to friend on my team. He never used it, but a few weeks ago, I was at the alley where we bowled, and I saw it on the house ball shelf...I died a little bit inside. I wish I had room to bring it with me when I left, but my carrier was full.

This is a great ball when you have spotty conditions on the lanes. When that happens, my Hawg Zilla takes a back seat and I pull out old "Nice&Nasty"(name I put on the ball). My Black Hammer is nearly 27 years old and i still use it especially when the lanes break down. I found a new one in the box at a pro shop and asked him to save it for me. When I get it, I'll finally retire my old one.

The ball that i use is my dad's old ball and it has never let me down. every time i go to use it i say "its time to drop the hammer" and it strikes almost every time unless i do something wrong, but this ball is 16 lbs. and it works every time.

MY SON IS 14 AND A DECENT BOWLER I HAVE TRIED SEVERAL OF THE NEW HOOK IN A BOX REACTIVE BALLS FOR HIM THERE IS NEVER ENOUGH OIL FOR THESE 200 DOLLAR PAPERWEIGHTS. I FOUND A BLACK HAMMER BOWLING BALL BY FABALL IN 14 LB. THE BALL ROLLS EVEN ARC AND HITS PLENTY HARD. HE CAN PLAY THE TRACK AREA BY NOT HITTING THE BALL HARD OR PLAY INSIDE AND REV IT UP. VERY VERSATILE BALL DOES NOT OVER REACT. HE THREW HIS FIRST 200 IN LEAGUE THE VERY FIRST MATCH HE USED IT. URETHANE IS FAR MORE PREDICTABLE THAN REACTIVE RESIN
