Tornado Turquoise/Navy/Silver Specs
Blowing the competition away doesn't always require outspending them. When bowlers with slower ball speeds and those who wanted to attack the lanes with a straighter trajectory asked us for a ball to wreak havoc on lighter oil conditions, we took the Tornado's modified pancake core and kicked it up a notch with a higher tech weight-block for more backend punch. Then we wrapped it with the consistent power of a Super Track Plus reactive resin coverstock that's factory polished for a one-two punch that really scores.
The Perfect Scale™: Helping Bowlers Make Better Decisions. Because each manufacturer uses a different method for indicating a ball's hook potential, bowlingball.com developed a way for the consumer to compare bowling balls across all manufacturers.

I agree with other reviewers here: this ball has a bit more hook than you might expect from the low perfect score, but it is not a huge hook, so it is controllable. I'm not such a great bowler (120 avg with house balls) and this is my first ball. I think this ball is great for a first ball/beginners because it seems pretty easy to control -- not that you can't screw it up, but if you are rolling right and consistently -- and on dry to medium lanes -- the ball will do exactly what you want. Want it to hook? It will, like I said, more than you might think. Want just a tiny bit of hook on the back end or a dead straight? Set your hand properly and deliver it right, and it does what you want. Bottom line is, this ball is easier to control than something with a really heavy hook bias, and it grips the lane a little bit better than plastic. So, I think this is a good alternative to plastic for a better bowlers' spare ball, too. I have had a very easy time picking up 10-pin, 9/10 or 6/10 spares with this ball. Your mileage may vary, but just by having a ball that a. fits my hand (which changes one's whole delivery because you don't have to put a death grip on the ball to hang on), b. has a slightly better cover stock, c. has a medium but controllable hook potential, and d. after getting one ten minute lesson on how to PROPERLY hold and deliver the ball, I've gone from 110-130 range to 170-190 range almost overnight.

If you want a ball that is no frills this is it. As long as the conditions are dry or medium light, the ball is just fine. Medium Heavy to Heavy oil....the ball will just skid.I find that I am using the Tornado when I can full control and to evaluate how I am doing...especially in practice conditions. The Tornado makes an excellent spare ball. Just remember that you control what happens. Want it to straight, it will. Want it to break a little, it will.

I bought this ball as a spare ball, thinking I could use it for fairly straight rolls. Well, I use it, but it doesn't go straight unless I make it. It has hook to it .More than I wanted, but for someone who is looking for a ball with some hook, but not huge hook, this is a good ball. I can make it go straight, but I have to make it. I pan on buying a plastic ball for spares. One I know will go straight.

The Ebonite Tornado Turquoise/Navy/Silver bowling ball is great starting out ball, it hooks great. It drives into the pocket strong and fearless. I bowled a 160 first time bowling with ANY hook ball. I was amazed how nicely it released off of my hand.
