Blowing the competition away doesn't always require outspending them. When bowlers with slower ball speeds and those who wanted to attack the lanes with a straighter trajectory asked us for a ball to wreak havoc on lighter oil conditions, we took the Tornado's modified pancake core and kicked it up a notch with a higher tech weight-block for more backend punch. Then we wrapped it with the consistent power of a Super Track Plus reactive resin coverstock that's factory polished for a one-two punch that really scores.

The Perfect Scale™: Helping Bowlers Make Better Decisions. Because each manufacturer uses a different method for indicating a ball's hook potential, bowlingball.com developed a way for the consumer to compare bowling balls across all manufacturers.

Still need to do some fine tuning on my part but the Tornado is a good ball. I recommend it for any new bowler that needs something heavier than a plastic ball. Good job Ebonite!!!

I just began getting in to bowling back in December 2008. I went to my local pro shop and grabbed this ball as a beginner ball. When you first start out bowling, I would suggest this ball because it gives you a better sense of control and consistency than a house ball does. After using this for 2 months, I just purchased a Hammer Black Widow and Roto-Grip Cell Pearl. I need more action on the backend, which the Tornado has none. This is a great ball to purchase and use so you can get used to bowling and get your stance/steps consistent. Definitely hits the pins harder than a plastic ball. Start with this one, for sure.

I manage a pro shop and deal with a lot of beginner bowlers.I usual recommend the Ebonite Tornado Navy/Red/Gold bowling ball for them because it going to hook more than a house ball but still be very controllable and hit the pins harder than a plastic ball.Even if down the road they want a ball that hooks more they can still use this ball for dry lanes or shoot there spares

I give the looks of the Tornado a 5. But after that it gets a little suspect for me. I am a beginner at bowling and currently have the Ebonite Tornado and Zoom. The Tornado was suppose to hook a little more than the base level zoom and I have not seen that at all. It has out the box finish and is drilled standard. One thing I can say it is very productive in, is the pin action. When this thing hits the pocket it has pins flying everywhere. Once I master this ball, I will get something more potent for the arsenal but for now I am taking baby steps. Good entry level ball overall.

I am extremely pleased with this ball. I needed a ball for drier lanes and this one is more than I bargained for. It reads and reacts very well and hooks more than the chart says. I compare it to an Ebonite Crossfire type of ball and is actually too strong for dry lanes. It also hits much stronger than I expected it would. I drilled the pin above fingers 5" from PAP and CG about the same to get it down the lane. This ball comes hard off the break point and hits like a truck. My rev rate is around 250-275, but this ball makes it look like 350! I used it in our State Tournament and shot 300, 787 with 24 strikes in a row. Used it in team event at the USBC in Corpus Christi and shot 708. A great ball, very versatile from med. oil to dry. One of the 5 best balls I ever owned. Not bad for a 14lb ball.
