We drilled our Ebonite NVS like we drill most of our Ebonite high performance test balls. The pin is located 5" from PAP (5 1/8" over and 1/8" up) with the mass bias at 45 degrees. For a better test against other balls recently released we left the finish alone.

We were a little surprised how clean the NVS was through the heads. We expected a little more roll or reaction a little earlier than we saw. Once it found some friction mid-lane and on the back end it had that true Ebonite ball motion. It went left with a good amount of hitting power left in it.

We may adjust the cover a little and update this review because we would like to see a little more movement earlier on from this ball but overall we think this is another successful ball release from Ebonite.

I'm no bowling expert and don't have much to compare this ball to, but I have been bowling a long time and did buy a Hawgzilla a year ago. The Hawgzilla seemed to be more of a gradual hooking ball, and I was looking for something with length and a lot of backend for use in my league (before oil dries up). Well, let me tell you, I couldn't be happier with the Ebonite NVS.
To give you some context, my league average is 168. So if I'm really concentrating, averaging in the 180's is not a reach. I used the NVS for the first time (had it drilled according to the instructions included with ball) two nights ago during sweeper night, and I cleaned up! I went 212, 245, 179. That 245 was a split, an EIGHT-bagger, and another split. (sigh) OK, so maybe not all 8 were textbook, but the first 5 were, followed by a brooklyn, one that almost guttered but snapped back hard, and another brooklyn. But heck, even a four bagger makes my game.
Will the ball soak up oil and stop performing after a while (as someone else wrote)? I have no idea. If it does, I'll report back. Until then, I'll be having the time of my life on the lanes. This ball has a mind of its own!

I loved Ebonite balls until The One. The balls right after The One, the Angular One, the Total NV and the NVS, are all almost the same you can not feel any differences on house lane conditions. Ebonite kept saying this is stronger than this and this is even more stronger than this.? I have a 227 book average 2004-2006 and 209 average on the PBA experience league now.
This review is not like a low average bowler complaining about a ball. I really want to help people who would like to buy this ball. I'm not saying this is bad ball. What I want to tell you is there is not much difference between the NVS, the Total NV and the Angular One. On typical house lane conditions, my Storm T-Road is a lot stronger than the NVS. I really want to say something to Ebonite staff please do not make false advertisements. I was Ebonite man but not any more.

If you are like me, you would be a little nervous about getting this ball because of boombowlers negative review. I almost decided not to get it because of this review. However I decided to get the NVS one with a 3/4 inch pin and drilled it to snap hard and go long. Boy am I glad that I did. This thing is ridiculous! I have owned a Black Widow and this thing makes it look like a plastic ball. If you at all need a skid snap ball get the Ebonite NVS.

I recently acquired this ball. I got it plugged, redrilled, inserts, and threw a couple practice frames to get used to it. I must say, it's overrated. I thought it would be more reactive than it was. It didn't do much more than my Ebonite Bash. Drilled in a completely different manner, but same results. There is no defense with the lane conditions as they were dry, which should help it react and grab. I am utterly disappointed. Ebonite's quality has truely dropped.

Good ball...just not for me. I have slow-medium speed so I need a little stronger ball. The NV has that but the NVS doesnt have enough. High rev guy might like this one.

I purchased the Ebonite NVS right after release date. And let me tell you there is no other ball like it. I then became stupid and traded it for a hammer venom. Good ball, just not for me. So I went back to Ebonite and currently have a sponsorship with Ebonite and recently ordered the NVS and BASH off bowlingball.com. I am looking forward to both these balls as I have thrown them in past years. With my NVS and all other Ebonite products I carry a 212 JR. Leauge average. And I say to you all there is no bowling company out there like Ebonite. I currently throw the playmaker, NVS, bash, completNV. I'm all Ebonite!!!

I cant complain about this ball at all. I have bowled it several house shots, on both types of lanes, (wood, synthetic) and with my poor consistancy, ive even used it on almost every board right of the middle arrow. Although my wood lane average is lower than that of my synthetic average, I would have to blame myself and not the ball. THe ball does what we all want a ball to do and knocks the most possible count down every time. Ive had two three's with it since purchase not even two months ago, I'd say the next two months are gonna be exciting. But with that, i'd have to say that the ball is not for spares on the side you bowl on. My right handed shot doesn't even let me spare a six pin with this ball.

This ball was midlane heaven... and simply put it died immediately following its third set. ANOTHER ebonite worthless piece of junk that died right when I got it. Just stay clear of ebonite... maybe they will FINALLY go out of business.
