Columbia 300 has frozen time with its new value performance line… Freeze. An oldie, but a goodie. This ball contains a modified version of the Messenger core - arguably the most successful core in Columbia 300 history - wrapped in the NE2 shell which was featured on last year's Momentum. A 2-piece core paired with a high performance cover; you asked for it, we served it… FROZEN.

The Perfect Scale™: Helping Bowlers Make Better Decisions. Because each manufacturer uses a different method for indicating a ball's hook potential, bowlingball.com developed a way for the consumer to compare bowling balls across all manufacturers.

The Freeze line is replacing the Jazz series. The Columbia line needed a light-bulb shaped core, as it is always a great engine for performance balls. They decided to bring back the Messenger core, and I couldn't be happier. For the first time, a manufacturer is putting a 2-piece core in an entry-level release. Let me be the first to say, the only thing entry-level about this ball is the price!

I drilled one with the pin 5" from my PAP, above my bridge. I get great length and a fantastic move on the backend. I found this ball to be a touch longer than a Loud Noize, and more consistent off of the breakpoint. Overall hook was pretty similar. Compared to a Jazz, the Freeze got through the front part of the lane much, much better, and turned the corner just as hard. What stood out the most was the hitting power. The 2-piece core just had more "umph" when it got to the pins compared to the 3-piece Jazz.

I drilled a second Freeze, one with the pin 4 1/2" from my PAP, under my fingers, with a hole down my VAL. I wanted to compare this to a Momentum, since they have the same cover. The Freeze is cleaner through the front, and more angularity in the back part of the lane. This one hooked about 4-6 boards less than the Momentum.

With the current state of the economy, and the season just around the corner, I predict the new Freeze will be a popular ball. Anytime you can get this kind of performance with that small of a price tag, you can't go wrong.

I got my first 300 games with this ball using a 14 lbs. ball on the third game of Gobs and Gals league in Cal Bowl, Carson, California last Friday March 5, 2010. Thank you Columbia 300.

I was impressed with how this ball react's to drying alleys. It has a nice move @ breakpoint and keeps on turning. I throw around 5th board [rightside] it rolls very well, then the turn. It is a great ball for the price. If the alleys are drying out, go to this ball. I used the #1 drill pattern with a slight tweek on the thumb hole. My ball speed is between 15-16 mph. I hope this review helps. May all your single pins trip.

So far this ball seems to be very good. I drilled it with a stacked pin with the pin being above my ring finger and the cg in my palm. The ball moves very clean through the front and midlane, and has good movement on the backend. I have only bowled 3 games with the ball so far and shot 739 out of the box. I will test it further this week and see how it holds up on other conditions, and get back with you next week.

This ball was the first ball i ever bought. It worked well for a while but as my speed went up it started to not work as well. I use it now on dry lane conditions and on some sport shots.

While recently contemplating a new ball I was focusing on the high-end products (Siege, V-Gravity, etc.) when I had an epiphany: try a lower tier ball and make it work for me. Enter the Freeze. I went into the pro shop looking at the Jazz and the Scout-R. Well, the flip block Scout-R was no more and I found out from the manufacturer the Jazz was discontinued...but replaced by the Freeze. I admit I had not done a lot of research on this ball but if it was the Jazz replacement I should be happy. So, purchased it, had it drilled up (Pin over, 5.5 from PAP, 3/8oz side, and 1/2oz finger weight...long and strong) and was ready to try out my "lower tier" ball. HOLY CRAP, was I in for a surprise!!! I usually stand at about the 7 board left and throw at the 7/8 board right @ 14mph for my pocket shot. Expecting less from the Freeze, I moved to 3 left of center and threw at the 6 board. The ball slid beautifully through the heads (fresh house shot)...just like I had envisioned...and then got to the dry...and I think I actually heard it make a sound when it turned toward the lane to my left (head pin..."fahgeddaboutit"). I could immediately see that this was not the "entry level" ball I had expected. So, instead of getting upset, I got creative. Using the same foot position and the 5 board I simply took all of the "finger" out of the shot and what I got was a very sharp yet controlled turn into the pocket that sounded and reacted like a cannon shot! This thing obliterated the pin deck and stayed that way FOR ALL THREE GAMES. I moved my feet one board left for the third game and that was it. I ended up with a 721 set...173 pins over my dismal 548 of the previous week. All this for $109.00 out the door! Am I surprised...yes. Am I happy with the result...you betcha'! Get this ball in your rotation and you won't be disappointed.

I drilled this ball up recently and was throwing it tonight at league...

It is a second shift league, I shot 193-212-278. Made the ball change to the freeze the last game! Great ball for late in the day or dry oil conditions...
ps. went front 8! :)

My recommendation is GET ONE!

Drilled mine with the pin in the middle finger and CG inline with my ring finger around the center line. this ball is about 6-8 boards less than my momentum. Really clean in the front and jumps off the break point. This ball for me will be in my rotation for sure. The price point just adds to this great ball.

Hey Everyone. Back again and I'm a 3 yr Columbia300 staff member and have been in the Pro Shop business for 15 yrs. I have a high rev rate and my PAP(posative axis point) is 4 3/8 right X 3/8 up. with a TC(track circumference) of 11.5. I have two or the red/blue pearl FREEZE's.

I drill the first one with my favorite layout. pin 5in from PAP. CG center lined. the ball great when you need to play a little straighter or when the lanes breakdown. A perfect ball to switch to when your hi performance equipment is to aggressive. Very clean through the heads with a nice flip on backend but not to much. Def stronger than than other balls in its price range.
