I can write a lot of superlatives about the Columbia 300 Action Attack bowling ball. However, no ball can make a bowler better without proper mechanics and technique. So if you are looking to buy a bowling ball because your average has not change with your old ball, look at the person throwing the ball first. Enough about mechanics and technique. The Action Attack is a great ball. The one thing I like about it, is the smoothness from oil to dry. It does not overact but it hits like a Pimp that is short a couple of C notes! It can mentally scar your opponent. So buy the Action Attack, don't get Pimped!

I was losing confidence in myself on a difficult sport shot until this PIN DESTROYER was added to my bag.
Bought this ball over a year ago on the cheap, short pin (less than 1 inch), and was going to drill it up for my son. Son did not want it, locals did not want to buy it. So I decided finally got it drilled for yours truly about a month ago. Short pin layouts are limited if you want any amount of flare. Short pins are perfect for layouts where you want to get the ball rolling early and/or wanting the core remaining in a stable position. But I had this one drilled for what would hopefully give max flare, pin 1/2 inch below ring finger kicked out at about 45 deg angle, cg pointed towards the middle. Finish off with extra hole to ensure 1/2 oz top and side weight.
I am a tweener, avg 185 on hard sport shots and 210+ on easier conditions. I was having trouble with getting consistent power to the pocket with my current arsenal on a difficult sport shot on AMF synthetic lanes (highest avg for all bowlers in our house on this shot is 195). Bam, Here Comes the Action Attack. Taking a down and in from around the first arrow early in sets, I can keep up the speed with this ball, watch it grab the lane in the last 15 ft and SQUASH the pocket. Slight hand and speed adjustments allow me keep this line well into the 2nd game and beyond if I wanted. However, I found it easier to just make a big jump and open up the lane from near the 4th arrow, using the area created by all of the balls thrown so far. More hand and side rotation for a powerful and controlled hook off the same break point... USING THIS SAME BALL. Do not let this smooth cover fool you. This thing grabs the lane predictably and the smashes the pocket HARD, over and over and over and... you get the picture. Screw setting up a shot so I have easy spares on tough sport shots. STRIKES beat spares baby. And this is a strike machine. 645, 676, 680 last 3 weeks.... This is old Columbia stuff, before the buyout by BIG E. If you are a bowler, this ball will make you HAPPY.

The Columbia Action Attack bowling ball is a fairly solid ball. I purchased it before Christmas of 2006 and it has been in my bag since. On a fresh pair of oiled lanes the ball comes out hooking, but once into the second or third game the coverstock absorbs a fair amount of oil and even after wiping it with a towel I have to play much straighter. Out of the box it is fairly polished and although it's made to hook early, dulling the ball down with a scotch brite pad could help it read the lane more smooth. No doubt the ball hits like a dump truck and kicks out the corner pins like a champ, but I would only recommend it if you dulled it down a little out of the box.

I purchased the Columbia Action Attack bowling ball about 3 weeks ago. I only bowl once a week with my son and my average is 159. It took a few weeks to get to know how to throw this ball, but once you get it, it hits that pocket super hard. I have never bowled a 600 series , and today I bowled my first 700 series with a 725. This ball is insane.

i bought this ball about 6 months ago ,the back end reaction is exceptional ,i have gone from a 195 ave to a 225 ave and bowling it with ease, this ball is a must if you have problems leaving the ten pin,it has a good roll and destroys the pins ,i was not a columbia fan ,but i love this ball,is a must to have in bag, medium oil is best condition for this ball ,but it still handles the other lane conditions fine

About the Bowler
Bowling Hand    Right Handed
League Average    193
Ball Speed    Medium
Style    Stroker

I use this ball as my second ball to pick up spares. Started using the ball right out of the box. I like the way this ball hooks, so I learned to use it for spares even picking up that dreaded 10 pin. Have to adjust wrist position to get the 10, but it works 8 out of 10 times and I'm getting better :) Ball works well on medium to heavy oil lanes. Have to watch the ball speed to make it hook the way I want it, but it is a great ball. I've bowled for over 15 years for fun never played in any league untill this fall. I bought this ball to be my second ball from my Action Max and had it drilled for my first league. Have to say my average is getting better. Action Max sanded as my first and then Action Attack as my second to pick spares :) what a combiniation.

i used to throw a baby hook straight down an in an i would always leave 7's an 10's since ive purchased this ball its crazy the pin action u get if u hit ur mark everytime with the same speed its a atomatic strike but the speed is the down fall with this ball if u dont throw it right its gunna snap back so quick u wouldnt believe it. But overall this ball is great i no longer have to strain my arm trying to get a ball to hook at the end it does it by its self buy it an find out for yourself. I avg 180 and my 1st 2 games were in the high 200's 269 278 be carefull by the third game big adjustment with this ball have to throw harder.

If you want a big hook buy the Columbia 300 Action Attack bowling ball. I was hesitant when I bought it since it isn't a Hammer but I had several pros tell me that it would be perfect for the way I throw. 299-260-279 first series and I didn't change my line all night. I was able to play so far outside nobody else could follow my line without guttering, the backend on this ball is nuts. I am definitely going to be checking out more Columbia stuff this is the first ball since the messenger that I've thrown and I love it
