Absolute Inferno Specs
Based on our Perfect Scale™ ratings, may we also suggest the following items.
Combining the red-hot performance of the original Inferno's Ultra-Low RG core with the aggressiveness of a rough-buff, pearlized Activator Plus coverstock, the Absolute Inferno sets a new standard for traction that leaves the other balls behind. For improved hook potential, a more angular breakpoint, and better mid-lane recovery and forgiveness, there's only one absolute you can count on - Absolute Inferno.
Brunswick Activator Coverstock has quickly established a reputation for excellence in ball reaction, durability and longevity of ball reaction. On the lanes, Activator Coverstock balls are clean through the heads with excellent mid-lane recovery and strong arcing back-end reactions that create powerful pin action. Owners of the original Inferno have reported that it requires less frequent resurfacing and/or rejuvenation and is more resistant to cracking than other reactive coverstock balls.
Activator Plus is a more aggressive version of the original Activator coverstock formulation that maintains the durability and longevity of ball reaction that are characteristic of the Activator coverstock family. The rough-buff, pearlized version of Activator Plus coverstock used on the Absolute Inferno creates more traction in the oil, increasing the ball's mid-lane and backend hooking action, while still being clean through the front end. When combined with the more angular breakpoint of the Activator Plus coverstock, this creates a ball with excellent mid-lane recovery and strong back-end power that is very forgiving, allowing the bowler more room for error.
Utility
-Out of the box: The Absolute Inferno is an ideal ball for medium-dry to medium-oily lane conditions.
-When shined: Using Brunswick's Factory Finish High Gloss Polish the total hooking action of the Absolute Inferno can be reduced and the arc made more skid/snap.
-When dulled: The Absolute Inferno's hooking action will increase providing a better match-up for oily lane conditions.
Reaction Setup
The Absolute Inferno can be drilled using the standard drilling techniques developed for two-piece balls, see the included drilling instructions for reaction characteristics and layout details. The Absolute Inferno is finished with a new Rough Buff compound finish. To bring you Absolute Inferno back to its original factory finish use Brunswick's new Factory Finish Rough Buff.

Dislikes: While the Brunswick Absolute Inferno is capable of handling a variety of different conditions and lines, I wish I could use it on heavier oil and carry down. Also, if the lanes are too dry this ball will jump when it finds the dry.
Setup: Pin under ring, kicked CG with extra hole to increase flare. I've been throwing the Brunswick Absolute Inferno almost since it was released and it has become a ball that I have a lot of confidence with. It is usually the first ball out of my bag and serves as my benchmark ball. It has proven to be a solid medium to medium-light oil ball. It gets down the lane well and makes a hard move to the pocket, typical of the newer additions to the Inferno line. The shot is a medium to medium-heavy house shot at about 40' clean backend and tapered dry from about 7- the gutter. I typically stand about 18 play the AI over 10 and bounce off 7. The Brunswick Absolute Inferno turns hard and runs through the rack like it isn't there. I can play straight up the 10 (oil) if I manage the ball speed. In that case, when the AI finds the dry backend I get the same hard turn toward the pocket. Second shift can be a bit of a problem if there is carry down or burnt heads and mid lanes. The AI will read too early and squirt in the backend. When I use this ball for what it excels at it is awesome and it always is about as controllable and predictable as any big "B" ball...it never gives you any surprises. Hand adjustments can be easily translated to ball reaction with the Brunswick Absolute Inferno as well.

Ever since I bought the Absolute Inferno, it has quickly become my go to ball, the one I use most often. I have only used it for about the past 4 months of league, but I can see already how great it is.
I also own the Total Inferno. The Absolute is a better ball for medium and lighter side of medium conditions than the Total. The Total needs more oil, it is for at least the heavy side of medium and up. The Total reads the dry much harder, and is real jumpy if there is not enough oil.
The Absolute was voted most versatile ball by Bowling This Month magazine, and when you roll it, it is not hard to see why. My radar was billed as a very versatile ball. But this thing has it all over Radar. I'm thinking of getting a second one to put away and hold so I have a back up.

While a little weaker than the newer balls by Brunswick like the Total Inferno, this is still a great ball for use on longer house shots or shorter sport conditions. The rough buff finish along with the Activator + coverstock (my favorite of all the Activator covers), make this a strong moving ball, but not too snappy in the backend. This is a perfect between ball for medium conditions when sanded balls are too aggressive and high glossed/shined balls are too late.
A great addition to any arsenal, and if you haven't rolled one of these in a while, grab one and check out what you are missing with this very versatile ball.
