What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:
Again I decided to drill this ball using one of my favorite and more common layouts for reviews. I also wanted to drill this the same as my Revolver so I could get a ball to ball comparison of the two. Obviously but the performance line this ball is in and the nature of the ball it will be weaker then the Revolver but we will see how much and where this fits in the line up.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:
WOW, one of my favorite ball motions from Brunswick. As much as people raved about the previous balls in the line (Snake balls) I never tried one. The Anaconda surpassed all my expectations and then some.

The ball was so smooth through the heads, even with this stronger layout it rolled awesome and did not jump at the first sign of friction.

As the ball got into the lane I saw a smooth motion off the breakpoint without a jumpy ball motion but it was still very strong. I still had that feeling that even though I knew the ball was not going to go left off the break point it was still going to get back from anywhere because it was so strong.

The cover allowed the ball to store up enough energy that when it got the the backends it rolled up perfectly and hit as hard as the high performance balls on the market.

I could easily see this ball being a go to ball in the second and third games during league or for those transition times in a tournament format. All in all the Anaconda is a great addition to the 2010 Brunswick line up of balls.

Based on my speed and rev rate, I expected this ball to match up well for me because of the polished coverstock. I seem to throw polished bowling balls better because that helps me get the ball further down the lane. This ball was very smooth, controllable, and the color combination worked well for my eyes to see the motion.

You can see in this video that I had a lot of area at the break point. If you watch the video, you can see me swing it out to about board 7 on one shot and tug it to only about 13 on another, and both gave me great looks into the pocket.

The Anaconda is the first ball in the Advanced Performance to use the Activator Plus cover. Activator Plus cover is more aggressive than the original Activator cover but still maintains the durability and longevity of ball reaction that is the staple of the Activator coverstock family. The pearl version of Activator Plus cover is finished with 500 siaair pad and rough-buff polish allowing the the Anaconda to create more traction in the oil, increasing the ball’s mid-lane roll and back-end hooking action, while still being cleaner through the front. The Anaconda uses an updated version of the Original Inferno core. This Ultra Low RG core revs quickly providing mid-lane traction with a strong predictable back-end.This ball matches up well to medium and medium-oily conditions for a variety of bowling styles.

I used a 45X4 3/4X70 dual angle layout so that I could create moderate length and a more controlled ball motion. I was try to compare this ball with my Wild Ride (has the same dual angles). What I saw was that the Anaconda and the Wild Ride were both very clean in the front but the Anaconda read the mid-lane stronger and had a slower response to the friction at the end of the pattern. Though the Anaconda had a smoother ball motion the continuation through the pins was very strong. The Anaconda handled the lane transitions well and I was able to stay with this ball for an entire league set with out sacrificing any carry. This is a must ball for those looking to add a strong, predictable ball motion to their arsenal.

The Brunswick Anaconda has the Activator Plus coverstock is a more aggressive version of the original Activator coverstock. That means more roll in the mid-lane with a strong move in the backend.

The Anaconda is the ball that I have been waiting for for quite sometime. The balls I have had the most success with have been the Ratter, the Inferno, and the Absolute Inferno. This Brunswick release takes some of the best aspects of all three and improves upon them. The Anaconda has length, controllability, monster strength at the breakpoint, combined with more continuation at the breakpoint. As the lane pattern breaks down, many brunswick balls in the past have begun to hook early and stop, not this ball. The Anaconda will square up and carry at the pins, but as the pattern breaks down the ball continues to gets stronger and stronger. As long as you move left it will continue to strike, no ten pins from this one. I copied the layout off of my favorite Rattler when I drilled the Anaconda looking for a slightly stronger but similar reaction and that is exactly what I saw on the lanes. This ball is 4 and 2 stronger than my Rattler, which has more surface on it, and has more continuation at the breakpoint. The further left I moved, the more the Anaconda came back and the harder the messenger came off the wall to get the 9 pin! This ball is usable for most bowlers on most lane conditions and is a must have. Stand left, throw right, and destroy the rack with the Anaconda!

Another great snake ball from Brunswick. Laid out 65X5.5X45. Very familiar look with this one, (like an Absolute). For me it is lenght wise the same as a python with more response. With a little change in release, I can play out and straight, or in and hook. It is very hard to go wrong with this ball especially in the price point that it is in.

This ball is amazing! Its an Absolute Inferno on steroids, it has a nice midlane reaction. With monsterous backends... It eats the viper alive! The best match up for the house player would be a longer medium oil pattern... Get yours and Tear em up!

Ball specs:

15lb. 3oz.
2.75 top weight
4 1/4" pin

Drilling specs: 45 X 5 X 70. This places the pin directly below my bridge approx. 1" up from grip center. X-hole on the CG 1" X 3" depth.

An updated Inferno core with Activator Plus coverstock? Oh yes! I love this ball. My most used ball the past six months has been the Python. I have found it useful on a wide variety of conditions that I encounter. I like it so much that I keep two with different layouts in my bag. Well, now comes along the newest snake line edition, the Anaconda. Wrap that more agressive coverstock around the proven Inferno core and I knew I was going to love this ball. I drilled it up same as one of my Python's with the pin in the down position.
Took this ball to PA State tournament right after drilling it up. Immediately found a good line playing down the boards between 3 and 5 (left-handed). The Anaconda revved up so nicely off the hand and the coverstock read the lanes with ease. The ball never went through the break point. Consistently read the end of the pattern and made a strong move off of it. Pin carry was excellent. The other left handers on my lane and the lanes adjacent to me were talking about how tight the lanes were and how they could not get enough traction downlane. The Anaconda was having no trouble and shot after shot made a strong move to the pocket. As the pattern broke down a bit I was able to move 2 & 1 to the right and continue with no loss of carry.
The Anaconda is a great addition to the snake line. The ball is reminiscent of the Absolute Inferno. As the Summer progresses and the Fall league season approaches I anticipate seeing many more of these during competition. This will be a benchmark ball for many different style bowlers. Get one before your opposition does!
