I am a 185 average bowler on wood lanes. I was looking for a ball to compliment my innovate so i could get a different look at the pocket. I have already shot numerous games of 230 and up after only 2 weeks of league use and open bowling. I recently went to a house with synthetic lanes and shot an amazing 279,258,257 set for a career high 794 series. i am 53 years old and this is only my 2nd season back to bowling after a 30 year layoff. keep up the good job ebonite.

Comments:
The Champion is the newest high performance ball from Ebonite. This ball reminds me of the first time I used the original ONE. It’s one of those special “WOW” balls that a bowler immediately knows it is special. My first experience was in league play. After removing it from the ball press, I shot 800 with it the first 3 games of play. It is one of the few shiny pearl balls that performs exceptionally in high oil environments. Most pearls are so clean that the mid lane never gets a chance to slow it down, which creates over/under at the back of the lane. The Champion reads the mid section of the lane and creates that strong entry angle that all bowlers are looking for.

I had an opportunity to use it in a local event. The environment was very low scoring. The pattern was very flat and the backends were tight. The Champion read the lane properly and created enough entry angle for proper ball motion for carry. It created that “look” that no one else had throughout the event.

I have bowled on Highway To Hell and one other sport pattern with the Champion and the results have been the same. This ball is extremely versatile, reads the lane much different than other competitor’s pearl balls and strikes a lot. This is a ball in my arsenal that is very difficult to put in your bag. If you are looking for that “WOW” ball, try the Champion. You will wonder what took you so long.

COMMENTS

I drilled two Champions, one with the industry standard pin over ring finger with the cg and mass bias swung out toward the vertical axis line and a balance hole below the midline. The dual angle layout was 40 x 4.5 x 40. The second Champion was drilled with the pin well right of the grip area and no balance hole this gets the ball into a quick roll but is a control layout. The dual angle is 90 x 1.75 x 40. Between the two layouts, the pin over ring finger gets down the lane and has a late breakpoint. The short pin to axis point has a larger quicker hooking path. I have played much better with the short pin to axis point layout even though I have to play a larger hook path on the lanes, the path is more predictable. The Champion revs a bit stronger for me than the Innovate, and I have found both of these balls to be very predictable and strong.

So far the only issue with the Champion is I would like to use it on very short patterns and that is not realistic.
