This ball is insane talk about confidence down lane even when i miss my mark it still finishes strong and result's in a strike the challenge has a good down lane motion with a lot of movement in the back end i throw about 20mph with a lot of rotation and this ball explodes through the pins its my number one choice every week and the fact i can use it through a whole block is just one of the advantages this ball brings.

COMMENTS

The CHALLENGE is very strong throughout the entire lane and will work best on longer patterns and/or lanes where there is sufficient oil volume in the heads. The traction in oil is excellent. The ball picks up in the mid lane and makes a very strong and continuous arc to the pocket. Hitting power and carry are superior for me anywhere from 5 to 20 board with this ball. Higher rev rates will have no problems getting deeper. The CHALLENGE has been a great addition to my arsenal and gives me the reaction I look for on slicker lane conditions.

Ebonite CHALLENGE

Weight: 16 lbs
Core: AXS
Coverstock: RCS
Surface: Box (1500 Abralon)
Axis: 5 5/8” by 1” up
Ball Layout 5” pin up with a 70 degree MB
Extra Hole: 5 inches on VAL (small)
Ball Reaction
Length: Ball is very clean through the front end.
Midlane: Strong motion in the mid body of lane
Breakpoint: Strong continuous direction change

Comments:
I used this ball out of the box, which is 1500 abralon. This is the cleanest high performance ball that I have used in many years. The exciting thing about the Challenge is its response in oil. Many balls that get through the front part of the lane usually respond very strong when it reads friction (resulting in a over/under reaction). Because of its’ new core and coverstock, the Challenge clears the first 15 feet very clean and reads the mid lane with strong continuation through the pins. This combination eliminates the expected over/under and creates a ball motion that is strong but still very manageable during transitional stages of the lanes.

I used the Challenge fresh out of the box on a league pattern and threw a 26 bagger for 300/800+. I have also used the Challenge on a Viper pattern in a tournament and led from the start to finish. Both patterns were different lane surfaces (wood vs HPL), types of oil, patterns and lane machines (Kegel vs Brunswick). The results show just how versatile this ball is and can be for a variety of players, lane surfaces and patterns.

I recommend this new HP Ebonite product to any bowler who wishes to have instant success and add a piece to his/her arsenal that is the first ball out of the bag for medium to heavy oil patterns. Ebonite has hit a homerun with this combination of its’ new core technology and coverstock. This ball should CHALLENGE any competitor’s ball for Ball of the Year!

About the Bowler
Bowling Hand    Right Handed
Experience    Advanced (I have bowled in a league)
League Average    215
Sport Shot Average    193
Ball Speed    Medium
Style    Tweener
PAP    5 3/8 by 3/4 up

I drilled my Challenge with my typical sport condition
layout, which is a hybrid of a full roller label
drilling. The pin ended up 4 3/4 from my negative axis
point. I have done numerous balls like this in the past
and the layout calms down midlane oversnap on tougher and
very wet-dry conditions.

The Challenge is advertised to have a continuous roll on
the backend, this layout enhances that characteristic.
I have a Mission 250k and Innovate with this layout and
the Challenge certainly handles the oil well.

The conditions that have been bowled on are Winding Road
and Autobahn, and the Challenge was up to the task on
both patterns. My scores have been quite high over the
past several weeks and the Challenge was a part of that
increase in scores. I was a stone 9 pin away from a
second 300 game for the year, but oh well.

If you are a loyal fan of the Ebonite brand or just
looking for a new dull finished high performance ball to
try out, I certainly would recommend the Challenge.

I know that the Ebonite line has not been exactly great lately, however I hope you will trust me on the following review of our new ball " The Challenge". As a staff player I have been asking for a bowling ball to hit the spot and CONTINUE driving through the pins. In other words, a ball that will go down the lane and continue hooking once it reads the spot. The Challenge does just that on heavy to medium lane conditions. This is a motion we have lacked for some time. I am being honest here and telling you this ball is worth checking out. I hope you take "THE CHALLENGE" with our new HP Bowling Ball!!!
