Following in the footsteps of such great balls as the Hy-Road, T-Road Solid, Fired Up, Black Thunder and Fire Storm, the Fire Road is sure to scorch the competition!

Pin to PAP(5 1/8" over 1/8" up) - 5 1/4"
PSA Layout - 5 1/4" x 4 1/2" x 2 1/2"
Balance Hole - n/a

Surface Preparation - Out of Box (1500 grit Polished)

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:
I was personally very excited about throwing this ball. The series this ball falls in for Storm is by far my all time favorite ball motions. We are talking about Hy-Road, Fired Up, T Road, this ball had a lot to live up to and I felt it would.

Right out of the box it looks great and I kept the layout pretty straight forward on it. Pin over my ring finger and cg just kicked off my grip. I was expecting to see skid - left hand turn. Based the previous few releases to this ball, example Crossroad, it seemed appropriate for Storm to raise the bar again and make a ball that read the pattern a little stronger and flipped harder.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:
Watch the video and you will see that I love this ball. I had the entire lane with the Fire Road. I felt like I had all of the best balls that I ever threw
from this performance series wrapped up in one ball. This was one of those balls that I felt like I could not miss with and I did not care how far left I moved.

It got down the lane and seemed to recover from any angle I threw at it. Never once did I see the ball read to friction early or stand up. I was literally trying to throw this ball too far right with too much angle by the end of the night and I could not stop it from recovering.

This performance level of ball matches up so well I could see where this could be the hit that Storm has been looking for since the Hy-Road introduction. If you have loved these balls like I have then you have to get your hands on a Fire Road.

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

The Thunder line is my favorite line in all of bowling and has been for many years. All reincarnations of the Fe core have been great matches for my game. The releases in this line are as good as anything in bowling, in my opinion. With the Fire Road I was expecting to see a reaction similar to the Fired Up which was one of my favorite balls ever. The stronger R2X coverstock was sure to add hook potential to the formula. Needless to say, I was excited!

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

With my expectations being through the roof, I wasn't expecting to be blown away because I was pretty sure what I would see. Boy was I wrong. The combo of the Inverted Fe3 core with the R2X pearl coverstock is a match made in heaven! This ball read our testing condition perfectly. I couldn't throw the ball too far out for this thing to come back from. The carry was amazing like every ball in this line and it looks great going down the lane.

Sometimes with a pearl coverstock you have the tendency for it to squirt or skid past the breakpoint. Well let me tell you, I never saw the slightest hint of this ball ever having that problem. It great length but you could see it preparing to make the move in the midlane as the core took hold. Like a prize fighter winding up to land a knockout punch you could see the ball ready to explode. That's exactly what it did. This ball has the potential to be one of my favorites ever and I promise you will see lots of this ball in the hands of Belmo, PDW and Norm on TV next year!

The new release from Storm is the Fire Road. We have tested the new Fire Road on most house and some sport patterns. Fire Road has all the roll you will need it will be easy to control with all the backend you will need. The Thunder Line from Storm has another winner and a new Ball for the new bowling season.

Owned a Marvel Pearl for about 2 years and used it non stop 12-15 games per week, it started to lose it's umph so went to Apex Pro Shop here in Gainesville FL, and got one of these bad boys drilled, and let me tell ya, I missed warm ups in league and shot a 683 anyways. Ball felt natural, went long, and makes a nice move to the pocket, never got to flippy and mid lane read was also superb! I rate an A+ to Storm as well as Chad from Apex Pro Shop!

Thanks for reading.
Storm Fire Road is a fantastic piece if you are looking for a long skid ball with strong angular backend. Drilled mine with my favorite layout 65 x 4 3/4 x 65 and it is exactly what I was looking for. This ball pushes down the lane with ease holding on to energy as long as possible before making a strong angular yet continuous move toward the pocket. I am comparing it to a Victory Road Solid to give a bit more comparison than normal. The Fire Road allow me to play further right with my feet or a tighter closer line to the pocket while still providing an angular enough backend to kick out the corner pins. I have used this ball on longer patterns adding a little bit of surface to make it more controllable on the back part of the lane but that does not take away how easy it is to get down the lane. Use your favorite layout and prepare for an extreme backend reaction.

All of the reviews of this ball are from crankers or tweeners, so I thought I'd write one from the perspective of a mere mortal. I'm a relative beginner, having bowled for about 4 years, currently averaging about 195 house, 180 sport. My ball speed is moderate, about 16 MPH, and I have what I would consider low to moderate revs.

I bowl on old wood lanes which transition quickly. I bought the Fire Road to use as my second ball, after my Virtual Energy starts to get jumpy, to be followed up by my Tropical Heat Pearl or my Natural for the last game when the lanes are fried. As soon as I threw the Fire Road, however, that plan went out the window.

The Fire Road is simply amazing; WAY stronger than I had anticipated. Even on a fresh shot, it out-hooks my Virtual Energy. On most nights I can start out with the Fire Road and stay with it for 2 1/2 or sometimes all three games, simply moving left and swinging it as the lanes dry out.

I have always been envious of the relatively huge target those with a lot of hand enjoy, and always felt that as a stroker I had to thread the needle on every shot. While I still don't have as much room as the big boys to miss to the right, with the Fire Road I do actually have some room for the first time. Even with my moderate revs, the ball will recover from a modest miss to the right, and it's hold on a pulled shot is equally amazing.

I used my Fire Road for the first five games of a six game tournament on synthetic lanes last week (USBC blue pattern, I think), and the look as well as the hook were about the same as on wood, still with decent recovery and good hold. I can't say enough good things about this ball!

Storm FireRoad Ball Review
by Storm Staffer Casey Murphy

Right Handed
Rev Rate: 375-400 Rpm
Ball Speed: 16 mph
PAP: 4 5/8 straight across

Location: Sunshine Lanes
Lane Pattern: Typical House Shot
Layout: 40, 5 ¼, 60 with a p1 hole

The FireRoad is the perfect bridge between the extremely successful Storm Master Line and the Storm Thunder Line. The FireRoad features the high RG, high diff cores from the Thunder Line and the strong R2X cover. The combination is an arching motion that continues like few balls on the market. Few symmetrical balls will be able to match the FireRoad for strength and versatility. The FireRoad can be used on conditions of all scoring paces as either a benchmark ball or a go to ball to smooth out the transition.

Fire Road 55 x 4 x 75
The FIRE ROAD uses a modified version of the symmetrical Inverted Fe3 weight block first used in the VICTORY ROAD, with the modification upping the differential about 15 percent.
The FIRE ROAD uses a pearl R2X coverstock.
I drilled it with a 4 inch pin as I wanted to have some flare to help smooth out the overall reaction. The Fire Road is clean through the fronts with good midlane roll with a strong move
Off of the spot. Not a skid/flip reaction that you would see with the Victory Road Pearl.
This reaction creates great carry, as the ball has more of a rolling motion into the pins vs a skid/flip entry angle.
This ball is great on your typical house shot as it kinda of blends out the early wet/dry condition.
On sport and PBA conditions the Fire Road does need a little friction up front to keep from going a little too long. But on the shorter patterns it works very well, good control as which you need on those lane patterns.
The Fire Road is a ball that is stronger overall than the Victory Road Pearl but weaker than Marvel Pearl.

PAP 4 up 1 1/4
