900 Global The Eagle Reviewed By: bowlingball.com reviews by Tony Ruocco 03/07/2011 12:02 ( stars)
Your best bet in Reno is the Eagle from 900 Global.
Pin to PAP(5 1/8" over 1/8" up) - 5 1/2"
Mass Bias Position - 4 1/2"
Pin Buffer - 4 1/2"

Surface Preparation - Out of Box (4000 Grit Abralon)
What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:
We decided that since 900 Global specifically released this ball for the USBC Open Championship that
we would test it on that very pattern.
While selecting a layout for this ball we decided to keep it fairly simple. This layout usually allows me to play a variety of angles and parts of the lane with some minor tweaks. When bowling on the Open pattern it is important to keep the ball in play and try and find a comfortable place to get the ball to the pocket with some carry.
Since the Break Out had such huge success last year 900 Global decided to release it again with a fitting name for the tournament.
What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:
I wish I was bowling Nationals this year. I had a phenomenal look with the Eagle on this pattern.
At the start of the night when they were fresh the Eagle handled the condition perfectly. I had just the right amount of down lane movement to allow me to play the proper angle for pin carry. Due to the volume and length of oil I did not have a ton of options on where to play the pattern but once I got lined up it was a matter of repeating the shots.
As the night went on the oil started to carry down like you normally see at Nationals and with some slight adjustments right I was back in the part of the lane needed to strike.
900 Global's statement about the Eagle being "Your Best Bet in Reno" seems right on the money to me. If I was going to Reno this year I can guarantee there would be at least one Eagle in my bag.

Lane Condition - 2011 Nationals (Open Championship) Tournament
900 Global made this bowling ball with the intention of doing a big promotion surrounding the 2011 USBC Nationals Tournament. For that reason, we decided to use the Nationals Lane Pattern for this review.
If you are looking to score well and possibly make some extra money in Reno this year, definitely check out this bowling ball. The 900 Global The Eagle was fantastic on this pattern. It used the heavier volume of oil to clear the heads with ease, got to the break point and transitioned flawlessly towards the pocket.
The lane condition plays tougher than your Typical House Shot. With a longer oil pattern, you need something that reacts strong on the backend. This bowling ball does just that, reacts and strikes with force. The continuation through the pin deck is unreal.

The Eagle is the newest ball from 900 Global. This ball uses the same dynamic core from the Break Out and their ever popular S70 cover. This ball will provide length and down lane recovery. The Eagle will be able to handle the tough conditions like at this year's USBC Championship in Reno.

With this customer I was looking for a ball motion that would help him get started better out of the gate. He has always struggled on the fresh, especially at the USBC Open due to the amount of axis rotation he has.
Luckily we were able to test this ball on the 2011 Nationals pattern. Right at the start you could tell how much smoother this ball was off the end of the pattern. He was able to play right in the track with everyone else and actually had a little miss room either way. As the pattern started to break down he made simple 2 and 1 moves to keep his break point the same.
This is a great ball motion for team event in Nationals as well as other flatter oil patterns. With this ball having it's own prize fund at the USBC Open Championships, how could you not get one for yourself.

DRILLED BALL WITH PIN ABOVE AND BETWEEN FINGERS WITH MASS BIAS KICKED RIGHT OF THUMB 2"-- RIGHT HANDED-- WE RUN A MEDIUM OIL PATTERN WITH A "CHRISTMAS TREE" TYPE SHAPE HEAVY MIDDLE, FEATHERED TO LIGHT OUTSIDE-- NOT A BIG CRANKER, TWEENER I GUESS-- OUT OF THE BOX AFTER A COUPLE OF WARM UPS, I THREW 13 OUT OF 18 STRIKES WITH NO SPLITS-- VERY GOOD LENGTH WITH A SMOOTH BUT STRONG REACTION TO POCKET-- ALL STRIKES WERE CLASSIC 10 IN THE PIT TYPE CARRY -- PINS STAYED LOW-- NOT BAD FOR A 175 AVERAGE BOWLER-- LOOK FORWARD TO OUR STATE TOURNAMENT COMING UP TO REALLY GIVE THIS BALL A WORKOUT!!!

I bought the Eagle because I wanted a ball for the nationals in Reno this year. However, I had to try it out before my May 15th date there. On this ball I went down in weight froom 15 to 14 pounds hoping that this would allow me to get a bit more turn on the ball and possibly less 10 pin leaves. I used it this past week end at the Georgia State tournament with decent results - shot 696 in doubles with only one or two ten pin leaves. I also tried the ball in my leagues on the house pattern. The results there were not so good. For me, this ball is too agressive on the house pattern, even in the first game. All in all, the ball seems to be what I was looking for - a ball for the heavier oil with lots of drive on the back end.

First of all I would like to thank the guys at 900 Global for sending me this ball. If you are looking for a ball for usbc's, look no further. If you liked the Break Out, you will like this ball also. Pretty much an identical ball. What makes this ball unique is it's cover to core combination. It is the type of ball that on the more difficult patterns, usbc, masters, blue pattern, matches up really well on. If you get it in a little bit, the ball will stand up and still catch high pocket. If you miss a little right, it still has enough to get back and catch the pocket. Bottom line=This is a ball that will allow you to throw more balls in the pocket on these more difficult patterns. Thus giving you the opportunity to strike more. I have bowled the usbc tournament now for twenty three years, I have a lifetime 205 average in the tournament. And quite honestly I am very hard pressed to find a better ball that actually allows me to bowl on this pattern. I am currently bowling on usbc pattern in our sport league and I only missed pocket five times that night. I have layed this one out with my pin above ring, my cg in middle of grip and mass bias about an inch to the left of my thumb. This layout tightens up my flare even more. I am right handed and a tweener. My pap is 5 15/16 x 5/16 up. If you are thinking about one ball for USBC. This is it!

Starting Top Weight:3
Pin below fingers 1/8 inch up from center of grip mass bias stacked straight down
PAP/Track:3 7/8 over and 1 up
Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc): most it is a very manipulative layout
Likes:I set my ball up to be smooth and early to compliment my raw profit which is does phenomenally. I have the original breakout which is still in my arsenal and is pin up and is very angular so if your looking for an angualar ball the eagle will do that to. I love my eagle, I can currently use it on almost anything im on.
