Ball Layout:
I went very similar to my Virtual Gravity, pin up and to the right of my ring finger. Mass Bias about two inches right of thumb.
Overall:
My Virtual Gravity is my favorite "feel" ball in my bowling bag. The Virtual Energy rivals it for the my favorite ball... period.
Ball Motion:
The amount of area I had with this bowling ball was sick. It just seemed to deliver wherever I played on the lane. The pearlized coverstock holds onto the potential energy and releases it with such force at the pins that there seems to be little chance for them to stay standing. Like Brian Halstrom said in his review, the Virtual Energy seems to defy deflection and carries extradonarily well.
What a great compliment to the Virtual Gravity.
Being a Brunswick Guy I was pleasantly surprised with Storm's Virtual Energy. Although I did not drill one for myself I have drilled a few for customers. It's extremely clean through the front and it is a great compliment to Storm's Virtual Gravity when the lanes start to break down and there is no more head oil. The amount of area my customers had with this bowling ball was incredible. It just seemed to deliver wherever they played on the lane. For my low rev customers I used layouts with pin distances between 4 to 4 ½ and higher rev players 5 to 5 ½. If you like to get the ball down the lane with a strong backend reaction, then this is your ball.

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:
What I was looking for in this layout and ball was a nice and strong backend without the over/under reaction we tend to see from strong pearlized balls. For me, this layout provides good length and a strong backend reaction.
What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:
What did I get?... I got one of the hardest hitting balls on the market!! Period! The Virtual Energy (VE) allows me to continue to play my favorite line when my Virtual Gravity (VG) is hooking too early. The VE is a great ball with serious hitting power and control. The new hybrid cover is great compliment to the Shape Lock HD core.
The VE gives me more skid through the heads and a more direct line to the breakpoint. Once my VE reads the midlane to the end of the pattern, it starts its move to the pocket. Once the VE hits the dry, it is lights out for the pocket. The VE literally sucks the pins from the deck. No sweeps, no messengers, no ringing tens. Just ten in the pit, baby! LOL!
Compared to my VG, which is drilled similar but with a slightly shorter Pin to PAP distance and balance hole, the VE gets down the lane more and is slightly more angular at the breakpoint. The VG is earlier as suspected but still angular at the breakpoint. The VE is more angular!
The VE can not handle the same amount of oil as the VG. Don't be fooled on this one. The VE does not like a heavily oiled lane. The VE will skid too far when there is too much volume up front and in the midlane. The VE also needs dry backends to be affective. However, you can play with the VE on a higher volume pattern provided that the backends are fresh. But, you better be prepared for that seriously strong backend! LOL! Once the VE hits the dry, it is ON!
As a quick, but unfair comparison, I drilled up a Brunswick Wild Thing the other day, but I have only used it once before I wrote this review. Compared to the Wild Thing (WT) the VE is stronger in the back, but the WT can handle a little more volume of oil. The WT is slightly sooner than the VE, but seems to hit just as strong. I like VE reaction a little more, but the WT is more of and arch type of reaction compared to my VE. In fact, the VE can be called the real "Wild Thang" because its reaction is harder off of the dry.
Speaking of the dry... The VE is not a dry lanes ball. It is too strong for a drier lane. If you choose to use in on the drier shots, I hope you roll the ball with lots of speed because the VE will hook at your feet as soon as it reads the dry boards.
In closing, the VE is a very angular and hard hitting ball. I personally think that it is one of the hardest hitting balls on the market today. And, to top it off, it hits just as hard as its big brother, the VG. Oh, and it smells better, too. LOL! If you like a lot of depth down the lane with a strong backend reaction, then this is your dream ball.

This ball is amazing. The Virtual Energy reacts in a way that all my other equipment doesn't. It has strong backend like a pearl but hooks like a sanded ball. This ball is great for any lane condition.

I have been a Hammer Man for over 20 years, I just started useing Strom equipment the Virtual Gravity and added 23 pins to my average over the last 8 weeks was 205 now 228. I am a cranker and I have to polish it to work in the drier bowling house but with the Virtual Energy I know that it will work for me in the dry house. Thank Strom

The only reason I am writing this review is an attempt to keep people thinking objectively when it comes to bowling equipment. I am 23, have been an athlete all my life, and bowling has filled the competitive void left after I finished playing college sports. This is only my second year bowling. My first year I only averaged 165. This year I average mid 180s in two leagues and mid 190s in another. I am really starting to improve my overall consistency, but just need time to develop my spare shooting ability.
Overall the past two years, I have purchased and sold dozens of bowling balls in an attempt to find balls that suite my extremely high power/revving style, and I can honestly say that the Storm Virtual Energy is among the worst purchases I have ever made. I am fortunate to work with a knowledgeable pro shop owner that I purchase most all of my equipment through. I present ideas, and he endorses them as if he thinks they might work for me or not.
I read the hundreds of reviews about how this ball was so amazing and how it was great for many different styles, and basically easily convinced myself that this ball would be a good choice. I conferred with my PSO and he said that he had only drilled one up so far, but the guy was extremely happy with the performance and that it would definitely be a viable option for me. This was going to be my first ever Storm ball purchase and I was excited. Sadly, I deeply regret our decision.

(Place pin just high right of ring finger and MB just right of thumb hole)
What I don't like about this ball:
I can never get this ball to react the same way twice. The OOB finish was extremely nice, because it let me play further right (10-14) that I normally have (15-21). The polish really stored up the energy and created tremendous hit in the pocket. The problem being that I saw more solid 9s and ringing 10s than I have ever seen in my life. My PSO suggestion, take it down to a 2000 abralon and let it roll earlier and heavier. This didn't work either. The ball rolled heavy, but there was a very big "in-between" in the way the ball reacted. Too far right and it would never get back, too far left and it would roll up early and go through the nose. I then decided to take it to 4000 abralon and that didn't resolve my issues either. Rolled similar to the 2000 surface, but with a tad more length.
Overall, I am very disappointed. Especially with this being my first ever Storm bowling ball. I expected so much more. I will also provide one final piece of information. I bowl in a house with older wood lanes with lots of head and middle of the lane oil. It is almost a modified house shot. Maybe the ball would roll better on less volume or synthetic surfaces. I just haven't gotten the opportunity to try that yet. If this is the best ball of the year and it is made by Storm, maybe I am just not good enough to throw Storm equipment.
I also wish more people would give objective ball reviews instead of saying every new ball made by their favorite manufacturer is the "best ball ever made." It would really be for the betterment of bowlers everywhere that rely on accurate information.

The virtual energy when I first saw it was just another resin ball but then I saw my dad throw one and just had to have it. My first impression is WOW TRUCK!!! I like to play way right (hence urrethane) This ball allowed me to play right with that power of resin so all in all AWSOME BALL BUY ONE.

I chose layout #1 for this ball, with the pin directly underneath of my ring finger. (right handed) I love this ball. The last ball I used was a Columbia 300 Ti Boss which was 12 years old when I bought the Virtual energy. With the Boss I was struggling to avg 202. With the VE my avg is 210 and climbing. I've only had the VE for a month and we are almost halfway through the season. I've put up a few games in the high 260's and would have been in the 280 range if I hadn't missed an easy spare. I have about 50 games in with my VE between practice and league. I'm able to roll on any lane condition except bone dry and can still shoot 10 pins which is nice because I hate changing balls between shots. I'll try and post a video in the near future but the 2 bowling centers in my town have issues with people filming.

I normally don't write reviews but after throwing the virtual energy for a few days, i had to. All i can say is wow! I have been using the gravity shift and for me, the energy has the same carry as the gravity shift but then snaps right into the pocket at the very end. It powers through the pins like i have never seen before. I have a slow ball speed, about 13mph, low revs and about a 165 average and first night i threw it on my league, bowled a 171, 180 and 232. This is a great ball and makes someone like me with a slow ball speed and low revs hook the ball like I never have been to before! I highly recomend it!

I LOVE IT, I LOVE IT, I LOVE IT!!!! This has got to be the most angular ball I have ever thrown! This ball reads a ton of mid-lane, and has a backend reaction that just won't quit! For those second shift leagues when carry down is significant, pull this ball out and laugh at how much carry you have while everyone else is crying about how much carry they lack. Either get this ball or get got by someone with this ball!!!!

Check it out Storm Fans! This is by far THE BEST BALL in my bag! I recieved it as a gift like 2 or 3 months after it got released. Man am I happy!!! The day after i got it drilled I used it for the first time in my junior league and shot a 712 with a 279. THe only weird thing about this ball is that it hooks more than my Virtual Gravity.. But otherwise this is a great ball to have in you bag! Great job Storm!!

For this being my first Storm ball, I made a great choice!
I went with a 4.5 x 4.5 layout with a 2" buffer and an X-hole on the PAP. I left it OOB to try on our fresh 44' house shot with pretty decent volume.
I already expected the ball to go pretty long, given the length of oil combined with the fatory polish. I expected an angular reaction due to the short buffer. However, I did not expect such an explosive turn in the back! I move my breakpoint as far right as 5 and it still recovered with great ease.
Pin action is phenomenal as well. I can play it tight, I can also swing it without any sacrifice in good carry. Seeing the Energy is mainly due to the Gravity's success I have now ordered my 2nd Storm ball(Gravity) and will have it next week.

It is the most awesome ball you can imagine!!!!! I reccomend this ball to everyone because for what it does... the Pin Action, the pin carry!! I purchased this ball from Bowlingball.com. Great purchase and excellent reviews of product. THIS BALL HOOKS!! I had it drilled similar to my Virtual Gravity (pin right of ring finger and mass bias 2 inches right of thumb). The VG was always my "go to" ball because I bowled my first 300 with it. However, this ball is really good. I gets through the heads easily, but on the backend it goes crazy. Its like it zeros in on the pocket and hits the pins like a bull in a china shop. The pins are destroyed and the stay low on the deck. Right out of the box (on lightly oiled lanes) I shot a 243. It rolled much stronger than my VG, but in a good way. It was scary how hard it hit the pins. Now remember, this ball is made for oil, so I cannot wait to play on Sunday morning when the lanes are freshly oiled.

i want this bowling ball because it looks super cool. When i get it i am going to beat everyone in my league. Nobody will stand a chance against this left handed bowler when i get my hands on this virtual energy.
Been bowling for many years and I've had this ball for almost 2 years now and I must say... This is my absolute favorite ball! Good in any oil condition as long as you know how to handle it correctly! Highly recommend this ball for anyone that is passionate about bowling.

So I picked up this Ball to use when the lanes started to dry up a little bit too much for my Nano, and let me say.....I am very very pleased with it. Out of the box I rolled a 254, 248, and a 247 for a 749 series.....not too shabby for a 180 average bowler. This Ball is very angular and hits with thunderous power.....I highly recommend it and it smells good too ;-)

I purchased this ball the first week of our bowling season and had it drilled for the most control.I like my ball to go long down the lane with a continuous backend curve and that is exactly how it works.I really struggled last yr. and my average dropped 10 pins.I used the virtual energy ball in league bowling without any previous practice and rolled a 524,which is just what I was looking for.For a young lady in her 70's I'm very confident this ball will bring me back up
to where I feel I should be.The virtual energy ball gives me a real smooth delivery and the colors look really pretty as it curves right into the pocket.Just love my new ball and would recommend it highly to anyone with any bowling style.

Shot some huge games with it. Ball hits really well. Does tend to become a 10 pin machine on heavier patterns.Very versatile ball that really helped elevate my game. My name is Rick and I live in Plymoputh Meeting Pa...I was given the Virtual Energy ball as a Christmas gift last year..first off I amjust a novice bowler and by no means a pro bowler..I was told to take the ball to a local shop to get drilled and the woman did a great job..Prior to using this ball I had never scored a 700 set but was close just 2 times in all the years of bowling..Noting that i am 63 years of age and probably have bowled at least 45 years of that on and off..Since having this ball for a year I have had numerous 700 sets the highest being a 758 just a few months ago..I have enjoyed the ball so much that i just ordered and received another Virtual Energy ball..This time being a 15 pound ball..The first ball was from bowling ball.com and now the second one as well...Their online ordering is great and the delivery time is what they say...I have just ordered a couple of other items from them within the last couple of days and will receive those items by weeks end..Saving money is the name of the game and I know i have saved enough to turn around and buy more items...It would be of great interest for anyone that likes bowling to start purchasing your items from them and save as well...
I can see my average is going to sky rocket, it seems I can not through a bad shot. I through it out and it is like a magent to the pocket.

Let me start by saying Im no pro! The virtual energy is a better ball than I am bowler but I have had some bad luck with this ball. Ive had it for alittle less than a year and have thrown sevaral games with it and its always the same out come, RINGING 10!, Or a 7/10 split:(. Maybe its because its a 15# ball instead of a 16#?) It rolls smooth off my hand and down the lane well, it just doesnt finish as strong as my other ball.When I do strike with this ball,And dont get me wrong I do get strikes with it,There just not solid strikes.Seems that the pin action Im looking for just is'nt there.Maybe its like I said befor, 15# verses 16#.I just dont see the "POCKET DESTROYING IMPACT" I see with my GT1.

VE was a step up for me from a beginner entry level ball. I did a lot of research and looked at a lot of videos. This ball seemed to fit my line and provide the power I was looking for. I would not say it did that right out of the box. It took time for me to adjust to having such a big weight block and such a powerful movement on the ball. After about 3 weeks of throwing it between league and league practice. I found my mark determined the right speed and it started to blossom. This is now my comfort ball in my arsenal. If things are not going right with other balls I pull out the VE. If things are going well and I think the VE could deliver a little more I start rolling it. It never lets me down. It has a very big strike range. On Patterns like the Shark that dont leave a lot of space for a reaction this ball responds. On shorter patterns like Cheetah I just move a couple boards to the outside and look out pocket. The only pattern that seems to give this ball troubles is the Chamelion. It just seems to prefer a singular angle. The Chamelion ask for varying angles as it breaks and down and that can take a couple of frames for you to find yourself again with the VE. It eats up house patterns. This ball comes to deliver action and power. If you can get the revs and your speed to match up this ball will bring the scores up.

This ball is a beast!! Outhooks my Mutant Cell by a longshot. I still have to get used to playing 4th and 5th arrow although. This ball goes long and snaps in very hard. I've never tripped and destroyed so many 4 pins in the same league session. 5/5 stars!!

i am a ebonite person but i have been haveing a problem get my ball to get through the front so i tried something new storm virtual energy and i only ave 2o9 the first 9 games with this ball i ave 230 and i was amazed with this ball it would get out and come back like no ball ive used by ebonite it might be time for a bowling ball change for me
Outstanding feel and response. I have looked forward to using this ball since I bought the Regin ball. The reaction near the pocket is very smooth and allows me to easily addjust for oil conditions.

I love this bowling ball. It comes back from anywhere and everywhere. It has fluent motion throughout the pins and clears the head with ease.
I have rolled on synthetic lanes with it and the grab is intense. I have also rolled on heavy oil wood lanes and it moves almost as much as synthetic.
If you want a ball that moves in a flood, Virtual Energy is the ball for you.
I've had the Virtual Energy for about a month now and I love it. I've been averaging around 218 on a THS. When I first starting using teh virtual energy it seemed to go longer than what I wanted in the ball. My first series was only a 578. After a few games, it seemed to get a stronger backend reaction. In the following weeks I proceeded to bowl a 717, 683, and 695.
Sorry but this ball doesn't work for me. House pattern and it slides halfway down the lane on fresh oil. I might as well be throwing a plastic ball. This ball only seems to react when the lanes are somewhat dry.
I got this ball to complement my Virtual Gravity. When the lanes start to break down on the VG or if they are not quite as heavy then the Virtual Enerty is the perfect ball to turn to. It gives you more length through the heads but still gives you a strong and consistent move to the pocket.

I love the Virtual Energy. I bought the Virtual Gravity about 2 years ago and now after several 300 games and countless 700 series and more then 325 games on the ball it's still an awesome ball. I just bought the Energy and it looks like it's going to be like it's big brother. I ordered it with some special requests plus 3 pin and 2 oz top weight and Bowlingball.com filled my order to perfection. I am a 52 year old man with an avg. over 200 and have been bowling for over 30 years. I personally love Storm and Hammer products. You can't go wrong with either one of these balls they both preform very well and they are durable.

this is a fantastic ball i have like 13 boards area on the shark with this bowling ball. everyone should have it. i have it layed out 8x1 this ball skids with roll in the mids with tremendous backend.

this ball is a nice ball it is same as virtual gravity with about 8% less traction...this is still a hook ball though and will drive to brooklynn side on dry lanes forcing me to switch to my storm rapid fire...

right from the pro shop to league bowling with in 5 minutes of drilling my ball i roll a 650 with a open frame in the 10 frame of the first game and the also open the last frame of the third game(oops) The drilling pattern is the same one as they suggested in the layouts (pin below ring finger)and it makes it roll early whith lots of controlable back end i have the 930 and the 920 track and they are monsters when they hit but i must say nothing like THIS ONE this a great ball for anyone who wants to bowl strikes after strikes with more power then ever.
I just recently bought this ball for my college tourneys on sport shot. I absolutly love this ball it gets twice as many revs more than any other ball i throw (i have a lot of balls) and this ball seems to recover so much. I can throw this ball within 2 boards and it seems that everytime it recovers it hits just as hard. It like throwing a stick of dinomite at the pins!
Right handed Tweener with higher speed and revs - 15# ball- 215 average
I threw my first four games on a puddled lane to results of 149,187,248,224. Next game in practice, 253, then league with 234,203,212 on a fried out lane. This ball flat out hooks and sends pins everywhere on impact. It is a different action than my Virtual Gravity with a bit more turn off the dry, but still can be counted on to hook every time. Another great Storm product!
Has great impact in the pocket. Still learning to throw it, but am impressed with potential after first night throwing it. Looking forward to seeing how it performs at nationals. I have always thrown Hammer products, and am excited about the initial change.
you want to stand on 35 and hook the ball in, virtual energy can do it. On the same pattern, you want to stand on 20 and throw it inside out, the virtual energy can do it. This ball an literally do anything you want it to do. This is the best ball that i have in my arsenal. I recommend this ball for anyone!

I am impressed with this product's ability to forgive.
I must admit that I viewed several videos and read oodles of reveiws before I decided on this Storm..most reveiws posted are by those manufacturer's reps so most were favorably reviewed towards those products, of course.
I am a 2-days-a-week league bowler with the occassional local, state and national tournaments if they are within easy travel distance. I carry a 170+ average and have been looking for something to improve my game upon. I am in LOVE with this VE. I went up to 14 from a 13.3 pounder and moved the fill point dot just above and to the right of my ring finger...not too aggressive but enough to elicite a power punch on the end. Our house lanes have wisely went to a heavier, more enduring lane dressing so that products like this performance VE can do their thing. When I mean forgiving, I elude to the fact that I can miss my mark by as much as 3 boards and it will still find its way to the pocket, either a little high or little low if not spot on, and will provide a wonderful amount of pin action that makes up for the errant target. My first series, out of the box, was 659 (180-214-265)...bowling is fun again. I highly recommend the Storm VE for the league bowler willing to up their game...the only issue I have with the product is the aroma...I did not realize that the ball would be scented Pear Berry. Worth the investment!
All I can say is this ball hits like a ton of bricks! I have been hooked on Storm products since my Paradigm and since then have enjoyed the Gravity Shift, Virtual Gravity, and a Big Hit for when they are completely burned up. The Virtual Energy reads the lane beautifully and turns the corner with amazing power. Since receiving this ball two weeks ago I've shot nothing but 700's including my personal best 792(Damn 10 Pin cost me my 800). The first day out of the box I shot a 723 without practicing a frame. I'm hooked on Storm products and cannot wait for the INVASION!!!!

I have had my VE for about 2 months now. All I can say is WOW! This ball is much stronger than I thought it would be. I can play from just about anywhere on the lane, and I can use the ball for most of the night. Can't wait for the Invasion to get here! Storm has really got a good thing going right now.

I bought this ball to replace my Storm Paradigm that has lost its hook. The Storm Virtual Energy hooks a lot more than I thought it would. I play a pretty straight game, throwing the ball around the 10 board (straight) and have it hook on the backend. with this ball I found that I have to move left quite a few boards and play my same mark to keep if from going thru the head pin. Ball is a great weapon in my bag, but it hooks more than expected.

I cannot say enough about this ball! I threw it in a matchmaker and had to have it after rolling it once. I ended up putting a 5x3 layout on this awesome looking Virtual Energy. This puts the pin above and inbetween my middle and ring with the CG kicked way out with a small balance hole just above my PAP on VAL. This layout gives me good length with a strong continuous arc on the backed even with very little axis rotation. This is not a heavy oil or dry ball. Too little oil and it will hook at the feet. Too much and it won't finish or hook. I would definitely say this is a medium to medium high oil ball.
After having the ball less than a week with an OOB finish and rolling it on a fairly fresh house shot I rolled a 254/702 which is my second highest series ever.
After everything I have rolled in the past the VE with the layout I chose seems to give me the best combination of skid, roll, and hook that I've ever gotten out of a ball. The ball also seems to be able to hold the line better than most on left misses and still get great recovery on right misses better than some of my other gear. Whether the ball gets a chance to completely finish or not, it hits hard with great carry. Lots of low flying messengers with this ball.
This ball compliments my 5x4 Mutant Cell great also. When the Mutant begins to dry a line and hook too early in the track and wants to start going brooklyn, I can grab my VE and I'm right back in the hole.
The Pear Berry smells awesome too. I almost wish I could eat this ball. I'm also very tempted to buy another one to experiment with a diferent layout and surface.

This Ball rolls like a tank...plain and simple it rolls out real nice and smooth and then comes straight back in...i have changed my shot a little though not to much about five boards right with my feet (board 25) and throw right over the center arrow (board 20) and this ball does its job...this ball is well worth the money it is a vedry good investment
This is a great ball. I had it drilled fairly aggressively. 26 board to 12 board is my shot. It will carry to the pins every time. Sometimes even Brooklyn. Its the best ball I've ever had. Its a little too shiny out of the box for me but I throw a little Powerhouse Clean 'n Dull on it and The VE works just right for me.
Out of the box I did great with it. I shot a couple 700 series but then I couldn't hit the pocket when I did I left the 10 pin. It seemed to strong, then I relaxed my release a little had a few lucky shots and ended up with a 781 series. It remains unpredictable. It seems it is either hot or cold with no middle ground. If there is ony a little oil I leave it in the locker...
Great Ball. This has given me much more hook on the ball. Great for heavy oil. Rolled my first 600 series with this ball, 217, 208, and 205. I would recommend this ball to anyone seeking big hook and good on heavy oil. Oh yeah, it smells good too.

With the polish on it, this ball had severe over/under issues. I had the polish taken off of it and went with a 2000 grit and got a much better look at the pocket. More importantly, I got a consistent look at the pocket.
The Virtual Energy is awesome, out of the box 1st week I shot 749 247-277-225, 2nd week 793 279-237-277 (my personal best). I averaged 220 last year, after 7 week this year it had dropped 20 pins, I was just not getting the ball reaction I wanted. The Virtual Energy has incredible back-end that explodes the pins. I am a right handed bowler and do not use a mark on the lanes, I stand left of center and throw it to the right (a simple game), somewhere right of the 10 board usually works for me and every time this ball finds the pocket.
I would recommend this ball to anyone.
I tried one of these during a Storm matchmaker, drilled very conservative, basically 12 o'clock, sloppy fit. First shot I took with it was just a sloppy chuck down my usual line (standing 25 and down 12) just to see what it was gonna do. The lanes were semi fresh with a good amount of carrydown. Enough that my Cell Pearl wasn't biting as hard as I like. What I saw was a ball that gives me an agressive turn towards the pins I haven't seen in a long time off of my hand. It was really reminiscent of the old Red 3D Hammer I used to have with a much better midlane and alot more consistent and predictable. My first shot was a flush pocket hit with a considerably harder hit than anything I have ever seen. It hits like the ball weighs 30 lbs., or you're throwing it 30 mph.
One shot with this ball and I was sold, I'm just trying to decide how to drill it.

the virtual energy is a great ball. i got it a couple of weeks ago and it worked really well for my on med conditions lanes. when the lanes were flooded with oil i couldn't really get a solid shot, but once they broke down the ball was perfect so i would say get the bowl for med lanes and I'm sure your score will be good.

Check it out Storm Fans! This is by far THE BEST BALL in my bag! I recieved it as a gift like 2 or 3 months after it got released. Man am I happy!!! The day after i got it drilled I used it for the first time in my junior league and shot a 712 with a 279. THe only weird thing about this ball is that it hooks more than my Virtual Gravity.. I liked my first VE so much (60* 4.5" 25*) that I got a second one. This one is drilled 50* 4.5 65* and adjusted the surface to 2000 abralon. This one clears the heads easily like my first one, but has an extremely agressive and continuous backend.
Started out with back to back 245's. When I had to move to the 35 board the 3rd game, I had trouble kicking out the 10. Moved 8 boards right and used my weaker VE and kicked out the 10s again. Again, great pedecessor to the Virtual Gravity.

The Virtual Energy was my first new ball purchase since re-entering bowling a year ago. I have purchased a couple of used Storms (Gravity Shift Pro Pin CG and T Road Pearl) and have liked the action it gets on different styles of lanes. Let me tell you that the VE did not disappoint. I had it drilled the day of one league night that I have a 173 average in. First game was 211. Second game missed a few shots to finish with 199. Third game lost it at the beginning and threw a few splits, but recovered enough to finish with a 176 for a 586 series (192 average).
Monday's league I hold a 161 average and rolled up with a 529 series. Not great, but an improvement over what I have been dealing with in this league.
Second week for Wednesday league and found the ball's groove. Starting average this week was 177 after 4 pin raise first night bowling with it. Started the night with a 232 game with 8 out of 12 possible strikes. Two of the others were ringing tens after solid hits to the pocket. Second game was rolling strong until ringing ten in the ninth and missed the pickup. Opened the 10th as well to finish with 203. Third game back to normal with single pin spares and mostly strikes. Needed to strike first ball in tenth to try to win and missed mark. Picked up spare and finshed with a 228 for a 663 series, a high for me. After that night, raised my average up to 183. A ten pin increase in just 2 weeks. All bowling with the VE is during league as I haven't had time to practice with it. This is truly an amazing ball that carries well, and even when it misses and hits Brooklyn, seems to shatter the pins.
This is definately another winner from Storm. Keep them coming!

I have had this ball for about 4 months now and i love it. this is a very good ball for heavy oil, i bought this ball for just that reason. i can now keep the same movements and arm swing and postion as i do on lite or medium oil without changing what works for me. with the backend motion and how hard this ball hits you either leave a split, or you destroy the pocket. it will take about 2 to 3 weeks to get used to.
This ball is SICK.
Let me first say that the first pocket strike I got with this ball was deafening.
It has ridiculous backend for the amount of carry you get. It takes a little while to actually get used to how much this thing can break. I usually release over the 25 board and my breakpoint is around the 5 or 7 board. This ball will play this line perfect, but what astounds me is how far left I can move and how far right this thing will actually rebound and hit HARD. If you give it enough revs, you could be swinging about 30 boards with authority. Its stupid! Last time out (today) 193, 232, 223. I’m still getting use to it too. This ball opens another dimension, a completely new level of power and versatility never seen before.

Had one drilled with a pin up layout for length. This ball got great length with a strong explosive backend. THS fresh oil and shot 299 first game with it and finished with a 768 series.
By far this ball is stronger than my hyroad, alot smoother on the backend than my virtual gravity and got better length than my second dimension. reacts similar to my power agent but with a stronger backend. Also the pear berry scent smells amazing. Definitly a great addition to your bag and a good 1-2 punch with the virtual gravity.

By far my favorite ball so far. on normal house shots it recovers from most of my mistakes and i got to bowl on the viper pattern with it. as long as you know where to throw and hit your mark on the sport shots it wont dissapoint. Storm is the only balls in buying rom now on.
I am a low rev medium speed stroker with a 201 average. I typically bowl on THS that tends towards medium to light oil volume. I bowl on both synthetic and wood lanes. My Hammer No Mercy Beat'n was just to much ball for the conditions I bowl on. It has an aggressive cover with and aggressive drill and this would result in it burning up prior to hitting the pins and thus having no energy when hitting the pins (this is not so in heavy oil however). I have tended towards using my Hammer Black Widow Pearl due to the medium to light oil lanes. I had it drilled with a weak drill (drilled for length with a fairly sharp break point). The coverstock was in out of box finish and when coupled with the weak drilling, the ball had plenty of energy when it hit the pins. Reading the lane to early with the BWP was not an issue; however, the rather sharp break point made things rather tricky at times. As a result, I decided to try out these hybrid coverstocks that storm and rotogrip came out with. As one can see, the solid was too aggressive and thus ran out of energy for my style bowling and bowling environment. Furthermore, the pearl had great length but had a break point that was hard to control and predict. I decided to go with Storm's Virtual Energy as a solution to my problems. I had the VE drilled for length, like the BWP, but I hoped that the hybrid coverstock would help smooth out the break point and make it more readable without sacrificing kind of entry angles I get from my pearl.
So far I have not been disappointed with the VE. I was extremely surprised with the length I get out of this ball. I was really worried that such a strong ball was going be to much and read to early. This was not the case however. This ball was everything I like about my pearl (retaining energy for explosive backends) but without the negative of having unpredictability out of my break point. I really think storm is onto something with this. With the success I am having from the VE, I am really interested in picking up a Hy-Road for a different look with changing lane conditions. I will post more about the VE after I get more games on it. I am going to take a closer look at the VE's ability to perform after contacting the pins (continuation).
I hope this review help anyone on the fence about the VE from Storm.
The ball came in last week and took it up to the Lane's pro shop to have it drilled up. I am only an average (174 bowler and bowled almost 600 out of the box.
I do not have a lot of hook but this ball had some great back-end help for my shot. New grips stuck on a couple of shots but threw more strikes than I had really expected.
Won 3 x brackets first week out and have now paid for half the ball. Will work on the other half this week.

I have my VIRTUAL ENERGY drilled stacked leverage with weight hole on the val.This is the first storm ball that i have ever used and probably wont be the last.This ball rolls extremly well for me. It hits hard and really mix's the pins up even when i dont throw it great.Its been a really consistant ball for me and i know exactly what to expect when im throwing it.Its very strong for being mostly a pearlized coverstock.

It's just like the Gravity, but with more control and seems to hit a bit harder. I used it as a demo to see which ball I should get. The Gravity I've also tried kind of gave me troubles. A little too aggressive for an average high school bowler. However, this was more controllable and I could get way more lucky breaks with the Energy.

I'm a review reader type of guy. I pay a lot of attention to Brian Halstrom and crew, watch the videos etc... The Virtual Energy was described as a ball that goes long, smooth through the heads, stores energy and releases through the pins. That was the ball I needed to for my game. I am also an Ebonite fan, have the original The One and the NVD. I luv them both. My third ball is / was a Brunswick Smokin' Inferno. The Inferno goes longer, than the other two, but is inconsistent, leaves lots of 10 pins. I needed the Virtual Energy to fill that niche and drive through the pocket.
Out of the box with box finish, I rolled, 224, 243 and 212 for an easy 679. The 243 was due to a pocket 7-10 split on a shot I pulled into the oil. The 224 was due to needing two shots to get lined up (3-6-10s). I am a stroker / tweener, and used a down and in shot (feet at 12, ball up 10) as well as a more agressive shot (feet at 18, ball out to 7 or 8) with the same results, all ten in the pit. I'll run this through a few more paces in practice before I pull her out in league play...but then again we shall see.
My league average is 196 and our house shot recently, probably due to the heat of summer in the south, has been light oil from 3rd arrow to 3rd arrow, and bone dry outside of 10 on the right side. Thus the need for the length.

I just got the ball Tuesday.....Fresh lanes.... right out of the box drilled layout one....first six balls I threw were all strikes just killed the pins I was also moving all over the place trying different playing fields and worked great every time I threw it
When i first threw this ball right after i got it drilled i was hesitant. I drilled it with the pin above the ring finger and i throw the ball roughly 20mph the ball wanted to go just a little too long for me. So i took it home and hit it with a dose of powerhouse sandblaster and tonight threw it league. The reaction was amazing it still reacted the same but it started to hook about 1 foot and a half earlier it was perfect and it crushes the pins they fly everywhere so i am glad i stuck with it my first three league games were 268, 230, 248 for a 741 definitely a worth while ball especially if your ball speed is less than 20 mph you won't have to touch the ball is awesome.

Overview
I resisted getting a Virtual Gravity as my Dimension works just fine as my heavy oil ball, but I have drilled dozens of them and couldn't wait for a pearl (or hybrid) version. I'm looking to replace a Gravity Shift that is real smooth with a pin down layout.
Hook
This ball covers a lot of boards. It's extremely clean through the front and to my eyes produces a smoother roll on the back than the Virtual Gravity. It's the same strong revving core shape but smoother as a result of the hybrid cover. It's not a old-school Storm hockey stick flip on the backend, leave that for the Rapid Fire Pearl or T-Road Pearl. Take the VG add 2 feet of length in the middle of the lane with a more continuous motion through the pins and you've got the Energy.
Length
Better length than my Dimension at 1000, Second Dimension polished, and my 1000 HyRoad. The VE also produces a different shape of hook than anything else I've got with a pronounced mid-lane roll before the backend arc.
Control/Readabillity
This is where the Virtual Energy will shine. Because of the solid part in the hybrid this ball will rarely, if ever, overreact on the backend. It will produce a crisp change of direction but not over hook (barring any brain farts of course.) Playing straighter the VE didn't hook early nor did it cycle out and hit flat, a testament to the strengths of the HD Shape Lock core.
Lane Conditions
THS 38'-42'
A coast to coast type of ball with enough friction. I can use this out of the gate at my home house where normally I have to use 2000 grit or rougher on most balls (Dimension, HyRoads, T-Road Pearl) to get them to read correctly off the end of the pattern. Shiney pearls usually jump too much or not enough promoting 10's and 7's. The VE reacts in the midlane as if it has some slight surface on it even though it's shiney producing the best roll for the house.
With higher friction houses the ball comes to life with lots of recovery to the right. Shorter house shots might not like misses in as the cover and core is too strong to hold pocket on big misses left.
Viper -
Viper is my favorite PBA pattern as my speed and revs actually are an advantage. I start going up 6-7 out to 4-5 and try to get the ball to be as smooth as possible of the end of the pattern. Normally i'll use pin down equipment with surface 1000-2000 grit, but the VE allowed me to move a few boards left and still get the same smooth midlane i'm looking for. I was covering too many boards to be really effective but this is the reaction you need later in the blocks on Viper.
Scorpion -
I normally have a tough time on Scorpion as I get too much midlane with less reaction on back. The Virtual Energy gave me what I've never had, my typical midlane move while still providing a strong backend. If I throw a strong backend reacting ball I get too much push, and then when I sand that ball down I lose too much on the back. The VE blended everything out and still gave me a lot of hit.
2009 Nationals pattern -
I drilled the VE specifically for Nationals this year. It was intended to fill the space under my 2000 grit Second Dimension and above the T-Road Pearl. It fits perfectly. There wasn't much friction at the house I bowling at so the Second Dimension was the better look, but after the midlane opened up the VE went to town. When the dull stuff (Dimension, 2nd Dimension, HyRoad) started hooking early the VE pushed through and gave me that premium coverstock reaction and hit. If there is more friction like I'm predicting in Vegas I will probably be able to use the VE for most of the 9 games.
Compared to Other Equipment
2nd Dimension - Similar amount of boards covered but the VE delivers more on the backend.
HyRoad - Similar shapes at the breakpoint as a result of the hybrid covers but the VE with a stronger base coverstock and Assymetrical core can cover a higher volume of oil.
Overall Impressions and Final Thoughts
I was really excited about the VE and it didn't dissapoint. It's the first ball out of the bag and is a piece I can stay with longer throughout league and tournaments. The transitions are much more predictable with the amount of midlane the core produces and you still retain energy to come off the pattern with authority.

I put a dual angle layout of 45 x 5 x 35 on my Virtual Energy. I wanted to lay my first one out almost identical to my Virtual Gravity. The results were amazing! I got the extra length and stronger backend angle that I was expecting in comparison. The VE is amazingly clean up front and has a smooth reaction in the back and through the pin deck.
I kept the ball at it's original box finish (1500 grit polished). I went through a couple of layouts with the Virtual Gravity trying to find the reaction that I liked. I don't foresee having to do that with this ball.
I originally threw the VE on a 37 foot house pattern and loved the reaction so I was interested to throw it on PBA Shark. What surprised me was not having to amp up my rev rate to get the ball to turn the corner. All I had to do was make a slight change in my ball speed and it was golden. Have an tournament coming up next week that I am excited to throw the VE on. With my Virtual Gravity, Gravity Shift, and Virtual Energy, I have a great high end 1-2-3 punch. I have mines drilled pin under my ring finger with the cg kicked out a little and the mass bias a little to the left of the thumb hole. It is a great compliment to the Virtual Gravity when the lanes start to break down and there is no more head oil or when the backend is flying. It goes through the heads just as clean and has the same backend motion as the Virtual Gravity. I call the Virtual Energy a hyroad on steroids because they both have a hybrid coverstock but the Virtual Energy is a lot stronger overall.
I have used it so far on a house shot that I can hardly use on it because it is really strong in the backend that I like but just not for the house shots I bowl on. I bowl in a sport league where we have the kegel shots and it works great on the one I bowled on so far, which is what I drilled it for. I bowled on the beaten path pattern and its really clean and strong in the backend but a little too strong. I had to put it away because I was leaving a lot of 7 pins, which meant it had a lot of angle and power.

The Storm Virtual Energy smells great and hits like a Hammer on steroids, by far the best ball on the market. By the way, if I sound biased I am not, I love Hammer product from the 80's and was on board when the brand was revived in the new millinemum using the Internet. But this ball has everyone except Roto beat. Get it you will see the results you are looking for.
I got to watch a guy on Storm Staff throw this ball is was amazing the reaction that he got with it. The Virtual Gravity and Virtual Energy are a great 1 2 punch when the virtual gravity starts to read the midlane to early switch to the virtual energy which will give you a little length in the mid lane and create more angle on the back end.

Drilled the Virtual Energy with the pin 3 7/8" from my axis, place the cg and an additional flare hole the same distances from my axis.
The ball picks up the revs about the midlane and really rips through the pin deck like a chainsaw. This ball carries better than anything else in my bag. It is my go to ball for now and I don't see any changes coming until Storm or Roto comes out with something new.
While I was waiting to get my ball drilled I was thumbing through a catalog. I had no idea that ebonite had gotten so desperate. The advert for their hammer line took a poke at Storm by saying something like, " you want a ball that smells good or strikes"? Well, my answer to this desperation move to sell balls that don't roll as well as Storms is this, "how about throwing a ball the throws more strikes than a hammer AND smells good".
Bowlers get this ball and you will be very pleased, I bet your pro shop is willing to guarantee it. You should own this ball.

WOW, how good is this ball? I love my Virtual Gravity, and now the love has also traveled to her sister. The virtual energy is as clean as the virtual gravity but is much more angular down lane. When your VG starts to pick up to early, you wont have that problem with VE. I layed mine out with a 4 3/4 X 4 with a 55 degree mass. The pin is below my bridge with a low hole. This ball reads the mid lane just as well as the VG but gives me that extra bit of push down lane and more angle through the pins. This is a must have for all!!! Bowl Up A Storm

Drilled 6'pin to axis, 5'mb to axis...pin well above fingers....needed something strong but very clean down the lane and got just that. Rolled extremely well on our med house pattern with great hitting power, tried to throw on shark and just wasnt enough friction(especially with this layout). Overall an awesome ball, reads the mids like you would expect, with more than enough backend. This ball is gonna be great for when the virtual is too strong...also i was a big fan of the original gravity and this ball read the oil much better, only had it for a week or so but so far im very impressed!

Good ball not great, it is more of the same with a bit more distance. It is the Virtual Gravity with some polish nothing more. I am ashamed that this ball is not all it is promised to be, good ball just more of the same, it goes a little longer but doesn't do anything much more. Save your money and polish your Virtual Gravity or get the Brunswick Siege, that ball is by far a more aggressive and different look ball, I love my Siege. I love Storm and remain a loyal Storm fan, this is just not what I think they are capable of. Save your money and buy the Siege, wait for something new from Storm.
I know you here the same for just about every ball out there ,but this ball is amazing. I normally bowl hammer and I had to give storm a try ,so I bought this bad boy. Great back-end, powerful through the pocket, consistent roll, just phenomenal. Hits like a truck. I'm in my third week with this ball and I just bowled my first league 300 and a series of 289, 300, 223 for 812 (first 800 also) Just excellent. Storm makes the best bowling balls, period.

Hi, First off I have to say its not more of the same. I have the Virtual Gravity as well. And the gravity has more of a shaper back end. The Energy gives you more of a smoother entry into the pocket. Also I am sorry for talking about the guy who gave this 3 stars. But I disagree with everything he said. But different styles and drillings may be the reason for that. I also have the Siege which is a great ball if your looking for length but my Track Rising SE out hooks that ball. The Energy hands down is the best ball I have thrown. Energy gives you length and stores enough energy to hit the pocket like a ton of bricks. The Energy also gives a lot of room for mistakes. I didn't think I would love anything more than the Virtual Gravity. But the Virtual Energy took the No. 1 spot. A must have for your arsenal.

Short and easy review. DAMN this ball rolls great. If you are only going to buy one ball this season this ball is the one. It rolls clean and hooks well through the pins without stopping. I love it I am sure you will too. By the way, my ball speed is 14 mph and it still works great on every condition I have used it on. I am 72 and still average 191. Love the Storm Virtual Energy.
I like to play more of a down and in shot, revving the ball between the first and second arrows and letting it snap on the back end to the pocket. Medium speed and medium revs. I found that I have better consistency playing this shot than coming cross lane and I really like the angle at which the ball hits the pocket.
I bought this ball for it's versatility and it has a place in my bag for when the lanes start breaking down a little. The pearlized cover stock helps get the ball down the lane better and it shoots right into the pocket on the back end. The only thing that I don't like about this ball is that it's a little touchy and I really have to pay attention to the speed at which I throw it but once I get that consistency down, it's a monster of a ball.
Bowlingball.com provided excellent customer service, fast shipping and easy purchasing. I bought this ball un-drilled and had a local pro-shop guy drill it for me, so I'm not sure on how well bowlingball.com provides drilling. I'm kind of unsatisfied with how the pro-shop guy pitched my thumb and I'm probably going to take it back and get it plugged and re-drilled.
I'm going to look a little deeper into drilling services provided here on my next purchase just to see how they do over the internet. And I will be making another purchase. This is absolutely the best bowling website on the net and if you're an online shopper, you've come to the right place.

I've had this ball for one month and so far I love this ball. Excellent length, strong in oil, great power/carry...will probably be my favorite ball I've owned over the past 10 years. Shot 300 with it in league yesterday. I have primarily thrown Ebonite and am pleased that I gave Storm a chance.
This ball is awesome. I have only had it a few weeks and can notice a big difference. I have use it twice in league play and it hasn’t disappointed me. Takes a little practice to get use to. The best thing I notice is that you can make a small mistake and it covers well. I have gotten more than 40 pins over and once 80 pins over. This will defiantly be my number one ball for now!

I love this ball! It does pretty much whatever I want it to do. All I have to do is concentrate and put it where I'm supposed to. My average has come up 21 pins and I'm still getting better every week.
I drilled this ball with the pin straight up and really like how it allows me to still play the straighter line that I prefer. I am a tweener that throws about 17mph and the house shots that I play are very dry to the outside (outside of 5). Even with this ball drilled with the pin up it still will overreact alot if the lanes are dry. Don't recommend this ball at all if you are playing drier lanes on a consistent basis. All in all this ball reads the lane very well and has probably the best reaction of any ball I have thrown.

My Virtual Energy cuts through oil like butter. I have always struggled on heavy oil. This is going back to the days of urethane. Even with newer balls I could not carry, I could get the ball to the pocket but could not carry. This ball rips the racks at a high percentage. I carry shots that I would not have carried years ago. I love it. My average jumped from 189 to 201. More strikes and less 10 pins to miss.
I am a left handed 210 house shot bowler. I would call myself a high ball speed tweener. But I have had such a hard time with this ball. Inconsistent is the only thing I can call it. I really have to slow down my ball speed to under 16 just to get this thing to hook most of the time. And even with that it does not get the reaction it should. I have a hammer toxic that out hooks this ball by at least 5-10 boards. That is not what I expected from a high end ball from storm. I am going to try taking off the factory polish and try again, but until then I will stick with my toxic.

I have been bowling since the middle 1970's and have seen the game evolve. I have bowled the entire time without missing a single season and can proudly say that I have averaged over 200 since 1975, even though now I can average over 220 easily. Either way the Virtual Energy is without a doubt the finest ball I have used. For carry, roll, longevity and appearance. I am extremely happy and am sure you will be too.
I have it drilled simply over the label with the pin 4 inches from my axis point and kept the cover out of the box. I do clean it every three games.
This is without a doubt the most impressive ball I have ever thrown. It hits hard and carrys well. On any lane condition this thing is an animal. It revs up and hook hard. I only carried a 179 average and am now averaging 191 since getting this ball. I had used a Track ball before this.

I have been bowling for 15 years on leagues and I can say that this ball has a high flare potential and works in a medium to light oil pattern also. I am a full roller and got my layout by placing the pin below my thumb and it releases nicely on the edges of the lanes in heavy oil. I have received comments on the fregerance of the ball and say that it is Storms signature. I have a Brunswick Attack Zone MR ball, which I have used for 10 years, which is now my spare ball and I can say that for me, the Storm has a better track and reaction on the back end of the lane. It is a ball that I have to get use to since I just drilled it fingertip. I have a low rev rate and it amazing to watch it hook down the lane.
Well, Im 16 avg 210-215 have had the energy for almost 2 weeeks and this ball is insane it has the most consistant roll i've ever had the pleasure of using. I shot a 290 today in my travel league....then 4 hrs later shot a 754 in my adult/junior league...233-242-279 this ball is great i recomend this to any1 who is a serious bowler

This ball is so fucking the bomb,nothing else compares. This ball rocks. I have raised mu average over 23 pins since I started using this ball.

This possibly was one of the most anticipated balls of all time due to the great success of its sibling the Virtual Gravity. I'm a Storm guy and have been since I started bowling about 15 years ago, but I wasn't sure if they could match the unbelievable reaction of the VG. Well, as always, Storm came through with another winner! Not only did they match the reaction, hit, carry, consistency and quality of the VG, but it is also the PERFECT compliment! The Energy gets through the heads a little easier than the VG while still giving you the midlane read the VG was famous for and then making an unbelievably strong reaction on the backend. None of this would've been possible without the R2X Hybrid coverstock. The solid part allows the midlane read and predictable backend reaction and the pearl part gets the ball through the heads. The Virtual Energy is amazing because while it hooks VERY hard on the backend, you'll never wonder if it's going to be too jumpy or squirt past the breakpoint. In my opinion this ball is equal in quality to the Virtual Gravity and could possibly be even better! You have 2 choices: Get a Virtual Energy and be a step ahead of the competition, or don't get one and watch all of your opponents throw it against you and wish you had one! As always... I got my Virtual Energy last week and immediately went out and shot 699, followed that up with a 704 and then a 733. May not sound like a lot but I am a 187 average bowler and those were my first 3 700's. I am very pleased. I highly recommend. I am just a little better than the average guy, but I am working hard.
This is the most impressive ball I have ever used. It makes everything else look like it is old fashion stuff. The Virtual Energy really rips the racks. I have tried this on a house shot and every pba shots and haven't found a condition that this doesn't work well on. I will be getting another one drilled with a weaker layout and have it polish for drier heads. Great job Storm.

I really love my Virtual Energy. I have thrown Ebonite for years but after the Deal which was a hugh waste of money and nobody would refund my money even though the ball was obviously defective. The last blow was the latest Columbia ball don't remember the name threw 12 games with it and gave it away. I decided to try what was looking popular online even though my shop stocked most anything but Storm or Brunswick. I went online and got my Virtual Energy and haven't been this happy with a ball since my AMF Angle in the 1980's or seen such a change in my ball reaction. My reaction is so much better now.
This ball was the exact reaction that I have been looking for. It goes longer than my Venom but is much more aggressive. Odd thing is that on a heavier oil shot it rolled much better in the mind lane. The ball hits harder than any other ball I've owned. I like it and would give it six stars if available.

This ball from Storm has a lot of back end and preforms well with medium to heavy oil. Clean back ends always help. The ball rolled well and came back with a vengence and hit like a truck. I like the ball much more than my Shift. My Shift is now number two and my Storm Energy went to number one.

On this lane condition if i got it in it hooked hard on the backend. I had to play up the 4 board and ride the oil all the way down until it hit the stripped backends. The ball is phenomenal. It hits like a truck. The only weakness of this ball with this laid out would be heavy fronts or any type carry down.
The Storm Virtual Energy rolls early but does not roll out. It gets through the heads easily and has a nice arc on the back. I am very impress with this ball. It reacts exactly like how i wanted to. Perfect for medium to dry lanes. It still pushes well down the lane with this particular layout. The ball is versatile and can be tweaked and laid out for any specific condition.

As you might expect, early rolling layout, early rolling cover will make for an early rolling ball every time. Maintained predictability, but very very much an arc to the pocket. Fairly versatile but personally left quite a few ten pins with this cover. Just couldn't seem generate enough entry angle to kick it out.

600 grit wetsand + Brunswick high gloss polish:
Great rolling ball. Not as skid-snappy as you'd expect from a reactive pearl like this, but I think the drilling has a lot to do with that. Overall I'd say it's about average as far as overall hook goes, and very versatile. I can play hard and straight up ten if I want to, or I can move left and slow down and swing it out. Most impressive part is the carry. Seems to carry as long as I hit the pocket. I'll definitely be leaving the polish on this one. Great medium ball.

This is by far the best ball that I have used in years. Not much of a reviews I'm sorry, I don't ever post anything about anything. But this ball is going to change bowling. I love it.
I sponsor a team at our local bowling center and every year I buy them new shirts, bowling balls and bags. They all wanted to wait until the new Storm or Brunswick balls came out. Got mine as soon as I could. I had decided early on after researching but my shop was a little slow in getting it. I got it punched yesterday so I could use it in league last night and practice today. I shot 734 out of the box with the factory finish. I highly recommend but dont really need to, alot of people were watching me throw it last night and the shop will sell quite a few if they open this weekend.
I am a ball junky but that stopped about a year or two ago mostly because I usually got Columbia or Ebonite. They went south and I stopped buying bowling balls. The Storm Virtual Energy bowling ball is really cool. It hooks alot, i couldnt believe how much it hooked, i threw twice as many strikes a usual and didnt leave any of those ten pins. i could not be happier, i highly recommend the ball to anyone looking for more hook with a bowling ball.
I got my ball the day after the ball was released by ordering via the internet. My pro shop said he would order it and would have it in 4-6 days. I love the ball it rolls great and I am excited because I can see my average going up already. I average about 190 depends on where I bowl, I don't bowl in the league. I have tested and drilled hundreds of balls in my life. The Virtual Energy may be one of the best balls that I have ever had the privalege of using. Clean through the heads with a good mid lane read. Recovery on the back end is consistent and potent. My carry definitely went up with this ball in my hand. I highly and proudly recommend this ball.

I bowl in two leagues which use medium to heavy oil patterns. The ball frequently comes back from shots literally dripping with oil. This towel is the best I have found to easily remove the excess oil from the ball. The towel was given to me with the purchase of a Storm Invasion ball by Bowlingball.com
This microfiber towel is exactly what it is supposed to be, a great in between frame cleaning towel, which soaks up the lane oil exceptionally well. It is a good sized towel, and a great value for the money.

Got these towels free with the purchase if a bowling ball. I thought they would be small but I was surprised to find they are normal sized at 16 in. square. They are lint free and work well on taking oil off my bowling ball.

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:
This is the identical layout I used on one of my favorite Storm balls ever, The Gravity Shift. Since the Virtual series kind of came from the Shift series I thought it was an appropriate layout to use on this awesome looking pearlized Virtual Energy.
The layout normally allows me to play a variety of shots from up the boards to as deep as I want to get on a typical house shot. As you will see from our ball reaction video this ball allows me to cover as many boards as I want and still gets through the pins as good as any other Storm ball.
What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:
Just like in anything else there are hot streaks, right now Storm is on the hottest ball streak i think I have ever seen. I do not care what ball shape, what performance level, what color the ball is, if it has a lightning bolt on it - IT ROLLS GREAT!!
Storm has not missed a release in quite some time and the Virtual Energy is no exception. I have seen some of the best ball motions ever after watching my Virtual Gravity and Virtual Energy go down the lane. The Energy allows me to get a little more skid through the front part of the lane, compared to my Gravity with just as much if not a little more recovery on the back. Really, I could not miss far enough right to make this ball not get back to the pocket.
My Virtual Gravity was drilled differently but it still recovered well. The Virtual Energy just offered me a different look which may hold up longer on a typical house shot. All that says to me is that I get to play anywhere I want for a longer period of time.
Whether you have a Virtual Gravity or not you will be impressed with every single part of what the Virtual Energy offers.

What I was looking for in this layout: Coming off the success of the Virtual Gravity, I decided to drill this one to give me a cleaner look through the fronts with even more reaction on the backend. With the pearlized coverstock, I knew this ball and layout would compliment my Virtual Gravity well.
What I ended up with in this ball layout: Without a doubt, this ball lives up to the hype and is an amazing piece. I tested the Virtual Energy on a freshly oiled house pattern that had a few more units of oil on the outside than normal. To see what it could do, I stood on the 30th board to start and played around the 20th board at the arrows. I was able to get the ball out to as far as the 7th board at the breakpoint and get it to come back strong. Once again like my Virtual Gravity, this ball seems to defy deflection and carries extraordinarily well.

Ball Layout:
I went very similar to my Virtual Gravity, pin up and to the right of my ring finger. Mass Bias about two inches right of thumb.
Overall:
My Virtual Gravity is my favorite "feel" ball in my bowling bag. The Virtual Energy rivals it for the my favorite ball... period.
Ball Motion:
The amount of area I had with this bowling ball was sick. It just seemed to deliver wherever I played on the lane. The pearlized coverstock holds onto the potential energy and releases it with such force at the pins that there seems to be little chance for them to stay standing. Like Brian Halstrom said in his review, the Virtual Energy seems to defy deflection and carries extradonarily well.
What a great compliment to the Virtual Gravity.

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:
What I was looking for in this layout and ball was a nice and strong backend without the over/under reaction we tend to see from strong pearlized balls. For me, this layout provides good length and a strong backend reaction.
What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:
What did I get?... I got one of the hardest hitting balls on the market!! Period! The Virtual Energy (VE) allows me to continue to play my favorite line when my Virtual Gravity (VG) is hooking too early. The VE is a great ball with serious hitting power and control. The new hybrid cover is great compliment to the Shape Lock HD core.
The VE gives me more skid through the heads and a more direct line to the breakpoint. Once my VE reads the midlane to the end of the pattern, it starts its move to the pocket. Once the VE hits the dry, it is lights out for the pocket. The VE literally sucks the pins from the deck. No sweeps, no messengers, no ringing tens. Just ten in the pit, baby! LOL!
Compared to my VG, which is drilled similar but with a slightly shorter Pin to PAP distance and balance hole, the VE gets down the lane more and is slightly more angular at the breakpoint. The VG is earlier as suspected but still angular at the breakpoint. The VE is more angular!
The VE can not handle the same amount of oil as the VG. Don't be fooled on this one. The VE does not like a heavily oiled lane. The VE will skid too far when there is too much volume up front and in the midlane. The VE also needs dry backends to be affective. However, you can play with the VE on a higher volume pattern provided that the backends are fresh. But, you better be prepared for that seriously strong backend! LOL! Once the VE hits the dry, it is ON!
As a quick, but unfair comparison, I drilled up a Brunswick Wild Thing the other day, but I have only used it once before I wrote this review. Compared to the Wild Thing (WT) the VE is stronger in the back, but the WT can handle a little more volume of oil. The WT is slightly sooner than the VE, but seems to hit just as strong. I like VE reaction a little more, but the WT is more of and arch type of reaction compared to my VE. In fact, the VE can be called the real "Wild Thang" because its reaction is harder off of the dry.
Speaking of the dry... The VE is not a dry lanes ball. It is too strong for a drier lane. If you choose to use in on the drier shots, I hope you roll the ball with lots of speed because the VE will hook at your feet as soon as it reads the dry boards.
In closing, the VE is a very angular and hard hitting ball. I personally think that it is one of the hardest hitting balls on the market today. And, to top it off, it hits just as hard as its big brother, the VG. Oh, and it smells better, too. LOL! If you like a lot of depth down the lane with a strong backend reaction, then this is your dream ball.

Overall the past two years, I have purchased and sold dozens of bowling balls in an attempt to find balls that suite my extremely high power/revving style, and I can honestly say that the Storm Virtual Energy is among the worst purchases I have ever made. I am fortunate to work with a knowledgeable pro shop owner that I purchase most all of my equipment through. I present ideas, and he endorses them as if he thinks they might work for me or not.
I read the hundreds of reviews about how this ball was so amazing and how it was great for many different styles, and basically easily convinced myself that this ball would be a good choice. I conferred with my PSO and he said that he had only drilled one up so far, but the guy was extremely happy with the performance and that it would definitely be a viable option for me. This was going to be my first ever Storm ball purchase and I was excited. Sadly, I deeply regret our decision.
Layout: Dual Angle system 60 x 3 3/8 x 45
(Place pin just high right of ring finger and MB just right of thumb hole)
What I don't like about this ball:
I can never get this ball to react the same way twice. The OOB finish was extremely nice, because it let me play further right (10-14) that I normally have (15-21). The polish really stored up the energy and created tremendous hit in the pocket. The problem being that I saw more solid 9s and ringing 10s than I have ever seen in my life. My PSO suggestion, take it down to a 2000 abralon and let it roll earlier and heavier. This didn't work either. The ball rolled heavy, but there was a very big "in-between" in the way the ball reacted. Too far right and it would never get back, too far left and it would roll up early and go through the nose. I then decided to take it to 4000 abralon and that didn't resolve my issues either. Rolled similar to the 2000 surface, but with a tad more length.
Overall, I am very disappointed. Especially with this being my first ever Storm bowling ball. I expected so much more. I will also provide one final piece of information. I bowl in a house with older wood lanes with lots of head and middle of the lane oil. It is almost a modified house shot. Maybe the ball would roll better on less volume or synthetic surfaces. I just haven't gotten the opportunity to try that yet. If this is the best ball of the year and it is made by Storm, maybe I am just not good enough to throw Storm equipment.
I also wish more people would give objective ball reviews instead of saying every new ball made by their favorite manufacturer is the "best ball ever made." It would really be for the betterment of bowlers everywhere that rely on accurate information.

SPEED HIGH
AVERAGE 201 with urethane(black turbo with tonopolish)
The virtual energy when I first saw it was just another resin ball but then I saw my dad throw one and just had to have it. My first impression is WOW TRUCK!!! I like to play way right (hence urrethane) This ball allowed me to play right with that power of resin so all in all AWSOME BALL BUY ONE.

I went with a 4.5 x 4.5 layout with a 2" buffer and an X-hole on the PAP. I left it OOB to try on our fresh 44' house shot with pretty decent volume.
I already expected the ball to go pretty long, given the length of oil combined with the fatory polish. I expected an angular reaction due to the short buffer. However, I did not expect such an explosive turn in the back! I move my breakpoint as far right as 5 and it still recovered with great ease.
Pin action is phenomenal as well. I can play it tight, I can also swing it without any sacrifice in good carry. Seeing the Energy is mainly due to the Gravity's success I have now ordered my 2nd Storm ball(Gravity) and will have it next week.

I have rolled on synthetic lanes with it and the grab is intense. I have also rolled on heavy oil wood lanes and it moves almost as much as synthetic.
If you want a ball that moves in a flood, Virtual Energy is the ball for you.

I threw my first four games on a puddled lane to results of 149,187,248,224. Next game in practice, 253, then league with 234,203,212 on a fried out lane. This ball flat out hooks and sends pins everywhere on impact. It is a different action than my Virtual Gravity with a bit more turn off the dry, but still can be counted on to hook every time. Another great Storm product!

I must admit that I viewed several videos and read oodles of reveiws before I decided on this Storm..most reveiws posted are by those manufacturer's reps so most were favorably reviewed towards those products, of course.
I am a 2-days-a-week league bowler with the occassional local, state and national tournaments if they are within easy travel distance. I carry a 170+ average and have been looking for something to improve my game upon. I am in LOVE with this VE. I went up to 14 from a 13.3 pounder and moved the fill point dot just above and to the right of my ring finger...not too aggressive but enough to elicite a power punch on the end. Our house lanes have wisely went to a heavier, more enduring lane dressing so that products like this performance VE can do their thing. When I mean forgiving, I elude to the fact that I can miss my mark by as much as 3 boards and it will still find its way to the pocket, either a little high or little low if not spot on, and will provide a wonderful amount of pin action that makes up for the errant target. My first series, out of the box, was 659 (180-214-265)...bowling is fun again. I highly recommend the Storm VE for the league bowler willing to up their game...the only issue I have with the product is the aroma...I did not realize that the ball would be scented Pear Berry. Worth the investment!

After having the ball less than a week with an OOB finish and rolling it on a fairly fresh house shot I rolled a 254/702 which is my second highest series ever.
After everything I have rolled in the past the VE with the layout I chose seems to give me the best combination of skid, roll, and hook that I've ever gotten out of a ball. The ball also seems to be able to hold the line better than most on left misses and still get great recovery on right misses better than some of my other gear. Whether the ball gets a chance to completely finish or not, it hits hard with great carry. Lots of low flying messengers with this ball.
This ball compliments my 5x4 Mutant Cell great also. When the Mutant begins to dry a line and hook too early in the track and wants to start going brooklyn, I can grab my VE and I'm right back in the hole.
The Pear Berry smells awesome too. I almost wish I could eat this ball. I'm also very tempted to buy another one to experiment with a diferent layout and surface.

Started out with back to back 245's. When I had to move to the 35 board the 3rd game, I had trouble kicking out the 10. Moved 8 boards right and used my weaker VE and kicked out the 10s again. Again, great pedecessor to the Virtual Gravity.

Monday's league I hold a 161 average and rolled up with a 529 series. Not great, but an improvement over what I have been dealing with in this league.
Second week for Wednesday league and found the ball's groove. Starting average this week was 177 after 4 pin raise first night bowling with it. Started the night with a 232 game with 8 out of 12 possible strikes. Two of the others were ringing tens after solid hits to the pocket. Second game was rolling strong until ringing ten in the ninth and missed the pickup. Opened the 10th as well to finish with 203. Third game back to normal with single pin spares and mostly strikes. Needed to strike first ball in tenth to try to win and missed mark. Picked up spare and finshed with a 228 for a 663 series, a high for me. After that night, raised my average up to 183. A ten pin increase in just 2 weeks. All bowling with the VE is during league as I haven't had time to practice with it. This is truly an amazing ball that carries well, and even when it misses and hits Brooklyn, seems to shatter the pins.
This is definately another winner from Storm. Keep them coming!

Let me first say that the first pocket strike I got with this ball was deafening.
It has ridiculous backend for the amount of carry you get. It takes a little while to actually get used to how much this thing can break. I usually release over the 25 board and my breakpoint is around the 5 or 7 board. This ball will play this line perfect, but what astounds me is how far left I can move and how far right this thing will actually rebound and hit HARD. If you give it enough revs, you could be swinging about 30 boards with authority. Its stupid! Last time out (today) 193, 232, 223. I’m still getting use to it too. This ball opens another dimension, a completely new level of power and versatility never seen before.

Had one drilled with a pin up layout for length. This ball got great length with a strong explosive backend. THS fresh oil and shot 299 first game with it and finished with a 768 series.
By far this ball is stronger than my hyroad, alot smoother on the backend than my virtual gravity and got better length than my second dimension. reacts similar to my power agent but with a stronger backend. Also the pear berry scent smells amazing. Definitly a great addition to your bag and a good 1-2 punch with the virtual gravity.

So far I have not been disappointed with the VE. I was extremely surprised with the length I get out of this ball. I was really worried that such a strong ball was going be to much and read to early. This was not the case however. This ball was everything I like about my pearl (retaining energy for explosive backends) but without the negative of having unpredictability out of my break point. I really think storm is onto something with this. With the success I am having from the VE, I am really interested in picking up a Hy-Road for a different look with changing lane conditions. I will post more about the VE after I get more games on it. I am going to take a closer look at the VE's ability to perform after contacting the pins (continuation).
I hope this review help anyone on the fence about the VE from Storm.

I do not have a lot of hook but this ball had some great back-end help for my shot. New grips stuck on a couple of shots but threw more strikes than I had really expected.
Won 3 x brackets first week out and have now paid for half the ball. Will work on the other half this week.

to choose...i can't. I have been using the Energy out the gates and moving to the Rogue late second game and finishing with it.
Gonna try a reversal tonight in league.
My first Storm product and am VERY VERY satisfied with my decision to go with it.

Out of the box with box finish, I rolled, 224, 243 and 212 for an easy 679. The 243 was due to a pocket 7-10 split on a shot I pulled into the oil. The 224 was due to needing two shots to get lined up (3-6-10s). I am a stroker / tweener, and used a down and in shot (feet at 12, ball up 10) as well as a more agressive shot (feet at 18, ball out to 7 or 8) with the same results, all ten in the pit. I'll run this through a few more paces in practice before I pull her out in league play...but then again we shall see.
My league average is 196 and our house shot recently, probably due to the heat of summer in the south, has been light oil from 3rd arrow to 3rd arrow, and bone dry outside of 10 on the right side. Thus the need for the length.

Overview
I resisted getting a Virtual Gravity as my Dimension works just fine as my heavy oil ball, but I have drilled dozens of them and couldn't wait for a pearl (or hybrid) version. I'm looking to replace a Gravity Shift that is real smooth with a pin down layout.
Hook
This ball covers a lot of boards. It's extremely clean through the front and to my eyes produces a smoother roll on the back than the Virtual Gravity. It's the same strong revving core shape but smoother as a result of the hybrid cover. It's not a old-school Storm hockey stick flip on the backend, leave that for the Rapid Fire Pearl or T-Road Pearl. Take the VG add 2 feet of length in the middle of the lane with a more continuous motion through the pins and you've got the Energy.
Length
Better length than my Dimension at 1000, Second Dimension polished, and my 1000 HyRoad. The VE also produces a different shape of hook than anything else I've got with a pronounced mid-lane roll before the backend arc.
Control/Readabillity
This is where the Virtual Energy will shine. Because of the solid part in the hybrid this ball will rarely, if ever, overreact on the backend. It will produce a crisp change of direction but not over hook (barring any brain farts of course.) Playing straighter the VE didn't hook early nor did it cycle out and hit flat, a testament to the strengths of the HD Shape Lock core.
Lane Conditions
THS 38'-42'
A coast to coast type of ball with enough friction. I can use this out of the gate at my home house where normally I have to use 2000 grit or rougher on most balls (Dimension, HyRoads, T-Road Pearl) to get them to read correctly off the end of the pattern. Shiney pearls usually jump too much or not enough promoting 10's and 7's. The VE reacts in the midlane as if it has some slight surface on it even though it's shiney producing the best roll for the house.
With higher friction houses the ball comes to life with lots of recovery to the right. Shorter house shots might not like misses in as the cover and core is too strong to hold pocket on big misses left.
Viper -
Viper is my favorite PBA pattern as my speed and revs actually are an advantage. I start going up 6-7 out to 4-5 and try to get the ball to be as smooth as possible of the end of the pattern. Normally i'll use pin down equipment with surface 1000-2000 grit, but the VE allowed me to move a few boards left and still get the same smooth midlane i'm looking for. I was covering too many boards to be really effective but this is the reaction you need later in the blocks on Viper.
Scorpion -
I normally have a tough time on Scorpion as I get too much midlane with less reaction on back. The Virtual Energy gave me what I've never had, my typical midlane move while still providing a strong backend. If I throw a strong backend reacting ball I get too much push, and then when I sand that ball down I lose too much on the back. The VE blended everything out and still gave me a lot of hit.
2009 Nationals pattern -
I drilled the VE specifically for Nationals this year. It was intended to fill the space under my 2000 grit Second Dimension and above the T-Road Pearl. It fits perfectly. There wasn't much friction at the house I bowling at so the Second Dimension was the better look, but after the midlane opened up the VE went to town. When the dull stuff (Dimension, 2nd Dimension, HyRoad) started hooking early the VE pushed through and gave me that premium coverstock reaction and hit. If there is more friction like I'm predicting in Vegas I will probably be able to use the VE for most of the 9 games.
Compared to Other Equipment
2nd Dimension - Similar amount of boards covered but the VE delivers more on the backend.
HyRoad - Similar shapes at the breakpoint as a result of the hybrid covers but the VE with a stronger base coverstock and Assymetrical core can cover a higher volume of oil.
Overall Impressions and Final Thoughts
I was really excited about the VE and it didn't dissapoint. It's the first ball out of the bag and is a piece I can stay with longer throughout league and tournaments. The transitions are much more predictable with the amount of midlane the core produces and you still retain energy to come off the pattern with authority.

I kept the ball at it's original box finish (1500 grit polished). I went through a couple of layouts with the Virtual Gravity trying to find the reaction that I liked. I don't foresee having to do that with this ball.
I originally threw the VE on a 37 foot house pattern and loved the reaction so I was interested to throw it on PBA Shark. What surprised me was not having to amp up my rev rate to get the ball to turn the corner. All I had to do was make a slight change in my ball speed and it was golden. Have an tournament coming up next week that I am excited to throw the VE on. With my Virtual Gravity, Gravity Shift, and Virtual Energy, I have a great high end 1-2-3 punch. I have mines drilled pin under my ring finger with the cg kicked out a little and the mass bias a little to the left of the thumb hole. It is a great compliment to the Virtual Gravity when the lanes start to break down and there is no more head oil or when the backend is flying. It goes through the heads just as clean and has the same backend motion as the Virtual Gravity. I call the Virtual Energy a hyroad on steroids because they both have a hybrid coverstock but the Virtual Energy is a lot stronger overall.
I have used it so far on a house shot that I can hardly use on it because it is really strong in the backend that I like but just not for the house shots I bowl on. I bowl in a sport league where we have the kegel shots and it works great on the one I bowled on so far, which is what I drilled it for. I bowled on the beaten path pattern and its really clean and strong in the backend but a little too strong. I had to put it away because I was leaving a lot of 7 pins, which meant it had a lot of angle and power.

AND THIS IS TO HAMMER, I LIKE THE SMELL, AND SINCE I RUN A PRO SHOP, I WILL NOT BE CARRYING ANYMORE HAMMER PRODUCTS IN STOCK. Only thing worst than a liar is a lying loser. Cheap shot in the Hammer catalog.
The Storm Virtual Energy smells great and hits like a Hammer on steroids, by far the best ball on the market. By the way, if I sound biased I am not, I love Hammer product from the 80's and was on board when the brand was revived in the new millinemum using the Internet. But this ball has everyone except Roto beat. Get it you will see the results you are looking for.

The ball picks up the revs about the midlane and really rips through the pin deck like a chainsaw. This ball carries better than anything else in my bag. It is my go to ball for now and I don't see any changes coming until Storm or Roto comes out with something new.
While I was waiting to get my ball drilled I was thumbing through a catalog. I had no idea that ebonite had gotten so desperate. The advert for their hammer line took a poke at Storm by saying something like, " you want a ball that smells good or strikes"? Well, my answer to this desperation move to sell balls that don't roll as well as Storms is this, "how about throwing a ball the throws more strikes than a hammer AND smells good".
Bowlers get this ball and you will be very pleased, I bet your pro shop is willing to guarantee it. You should own this ball.

I bought this ball for it's versatility and it has a place in my bag for when the lanes start breaking down a little. The pearlized cover stock helps get the ball down the lane better and it shoots right into the pocket on the back end. The only thing that I don't like about this ball is that it's a little touchy and I really have to pay attention to the speed at which I throw it but once I get that consistency down, it's a monster of a ball.
Bowlingball.com provided excellent customer service, fast shipping and easy purchasing. I bought this ball un-drilled and had a local pro-shop guy drill it for me, so I'm not sure on how well bowlingball.com provides drilling. I'm kind of unsatisfied with how the pro-shop guy pitched my thumb and I'm probably going to take it back and get it plugged and re-drilled.
I'm going to look a little deeper into drilling services provided here on my next purchase just to see how they do over the internet. And I will be making another purchase. This is absolutely the best bowling website on the net and if you're an online shopper, you've come to the right place.

I have it drilled simply over the label with the pin 4 inches from my axis point and kept the cover out of the box. I do clean it every three games.

This possibly was one of the most anticipated balls of all time due to the great success of its sibling the Virtual Gravity. I'm a Storm guy and have been since I started bowling about 15 years ago, but I wasn't sure if they could match the unbelievable reaction of the VG. Well, as always, Storm came through with another winner! Not only did they match the reaction, hit, carry, consistency and quality of the VG, but it is also the PERFECT compliment! The Energy gets through the heads a little easier than the VG while still giving you the midlane read the VG was famous for and then making an unbelievably strong reaction on the backend. None of this would've been possible without the R2X Hybrid coverstock. The solid part allows the midlane read and predictable backend reaction and the pearl part gets the ball through the heads. The Virtual Energy is amazing because while it hooks VERY hard on the backend, you'll never wonder if it's going to be too jumpy or squirt past the breakpoint. In my opinion this ball is equal in quality to the Virtual Gravity and could possibly be even better! You have 2 choices: Get a Virtual Energy and be a step ahead of the competition, or don't get one and watch all of your opponents throw it against you and wish you had one! As always... Review:
Lane Surface: Brunswick synthetic
Condition: 33ft fresh oil house shot
On this lane condition if i got it in it hooked hard on the backend. I had to play up the 4 board and ride the oil all the way down until it hit the stripped backends. The ball is phenomenal. It hits like a truck. The only weakness of this ball with this laid out would be heavy fronts or any type carry down.
The Storm Virtual Energy rolls early but does not roll out. It gets through the heads easily and has a nice arc on the back. I am very impress with this ball. It reacts exactly like how i wanted to. Perfect for medium to dry lanes. It still pushes well down the lane with this particular layout. The ball is versatile and can be tweaked and laid out for any specific condition.

Finish #1:
1000 grit abralon
As you might expect, early rolling layout, early rolling cover will make for an early rolling ball every time. Maintained predictability, but very very much an arc to the pocket. Fairly versatile but personally left quite a few ten pins with this cover. Just couldn't seem generate enough entry angle to kick it out.
Finish #2:
600 grit wetsand + Brunswick high gloss polish:
Great rolling ball. Not as skid-snappy as you'd expect from a reactive pearl like this, but I think the drilling has a lot to do with that. Overall I'd say it's about average as far as overall hook goes, and very versatile. I can play hard and straight up ten if I want to, or I can move left and slow down and swing it out. Most impressive part is the carry. Seems to carry as long as I hit the pocket. I'll definitely be leaving the polish on this one. Great medium ball.
The Storm Virtual Energy is definitely a ball to have in your bag.

The ball was more than expected it hit so hard and read the lanes so well. I saw additional carry on my first few shots. I would highly recommend this ball to anybody looking to increase their average, like anyone isn't,lol. Great website with great customer service. And Storm is the ball to own right now, that is, until the new Roto comes out, then you have to own both of them..:)
