The Full Swing - The latest and greatest from Columbia 300.

Pin to PAP(5 1/8" over 1/8" up) - 5 1/4" above ring finger
Mass Bias Position - 4" from PAP right of thumb
CG Placement - just right of center
Balance Hole - none

Surface Preparation - Out of Box (4000 Grit Abralon)

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:
I was looking for a strong reaction with a decent amount of skid out of this stronger ball. This layout as you may have seen on other test balls gives me a good amount of push with plenty of reaction to recover on the back.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:
I ended up with a really good ball motion. The Full Swing allowed me to get in pretty deep as well as play in the track area with a little higher ball speed. I did find some issue with the ball wanting to push a little more then I wanted in the heavier volumes. Unlike some of the other balls tested this one was a little more sensitive to ball speeds.

Overall a good piece of equipment from Columbia.

Wanted to chime in here, I have had this ball for a month now and it is my new favorite! Definately still has that Columbia300 mid-lane combined with continuous strong angular reaction on the backend. Just love the way you can read a lane with this ball. It is one of this first balls out of my bag. It is stronger than the Power Swing earlier on the lane, but still has that backend reaction you need to strike! Check this ball out guys/gals!!!

If I could give this ball a 10 rating, I would...this ball is amazing.

I loved the Power Swing, so I was excited to drill this black beauty up. My first one is drilled 70 x 5 1/2" x 70. This is the ball I used when the scoring pace is high. With this layout, I get a clean read through the front part of the lane, a strong roll in the midlane, and an aggressive, ANGULAR move on the backend. For the first time in a long time, you can actually see the ball going through the different stages of a ball's roll, from skid to hook to roll (my thumb slug locks up on the side of the ball when it gets ready to make that sharp turn!). For me, this ball was about 6-8 boards stronger than a Power Swing. It started to read the lane about 5-10 feet earlier, and had a stronger move down the lane.

For those consumers looking to replace their favorite black ball with red letters, get a Full Swing. It is awesome. This ball will fit any bowler's style, and will be able to be used on a wide array of different patterns.

So the release date for this ball is July 9 and a couple of you have already thrown it enough to make an informed opinion. That means you are either Columbia staffers or the distributor in your area said screw the release date and has already sold them to your pro shop. No matter how you got them you're entitled to your opinion but I beg to differ.

As a regional staffer I have had the ball for about a month and can honestly say it's the best new ball from Columbia in quite some time and it most definitely does not react like the other balls in the Swing line or any Columbia ball for that matter. The asymmetrical core will give you the backend reaction that the previous balls don't have. I just bowled Nationals and shot over 2000 using the ball all 9 games. I have no doubt I would not have scored nearly as well without it.

I wonder how this other guy who posted a review had it before me who is on staff and most other staff guys in the country, he said he had it almost a month before the release so I wonder about the credibility of his review but I could not disagree more with what he had said!!

All I can say is WOW, This is hands down the best high performance balls I have ever owned, and I have had a few and some i realllllly liked. The carry this ball provides is stunning and the move off the break point is sick, and what amazes me is how consistant it is, even though it moves a lot of the spot its so controllable. Complimented with the Bedlam thats cleaner and even more angular, the whole line is amazing this year. I drilled my Full Swings one with a 30x30 with a 3 inch pin and a double thumb hole and the other 45x45 with a 4 inch pin no hole and went and threw it on the THS that had a ton of carrydown from the weekend, the ball made it look like a fresh house shot with its backend, then on league night shot 760 after i won a sweeper on Sunday on the highway to hell pattern with the same ball, on it i had incredible backend and since it was readable and consistant it was unfair to the rest of the field, ball has already started putting money in the bank. If you only buy one hp ball this year I am telling you this has to be it!!!! This ball has got alot of GOOD reviews on other well known web sites so i am not sure what they are talking about on here but this has to be one of the front runners for ball of the year this year!!

I have had my Full Swing for about a month now. I have used it on a variety of patterns and am very excited about this ball and where the brand is going. I\'ve been on staff about about six months. I was satisfied with the equipment and bowled really well, but was just missing a few reactions. When I talked to anyone within the company I always said that I missed the strong asymmetrical reaction the most. Not anymore. The only ball I can compare this shape to is the original black widow, only about five boards stronger. The overall ball reaction is a very strong hard arc. Its got predictable along with pop at the pocket. The Full Swing will usually be the first ball out of my bag and I can keep it in my hands much longer than a Resurgence. As I move in with the Full Swing I just get more and more around it and it and it keeps coming. I look forward to doing some more layouts and will report back with the results.

Layout: Pin 5 inches from axis below fingers (on centerline). MB @ 45 Degrees

Overall: Strong, continuous, versatile. If you throw Columbia your going to enjoy this one, If you don\'t pay attention to the guys that do you\'ll soon want one.

I am new to the Columbia staff. I have used this ball for about a month. My axis is 5 1/4 3/8 up. Bowl RH. My ball speed is between 15.5-16.5 t I consider myself a tweener. I put the pin above the ring finger. 4 3/4 from axis. MB is 2 1/4 from my thumb with a 1" hole on my axis. I left it out of box surface. This is one of the best balls I ever had in my bag! It comes back from everywhere and keeps coming. The day after I drilled it, I bowled in a tourn. and bowl a 300 game 761 series. On a THS I bowled my best 4 game set. 279, 268, 289, 268. 1104. Then the following week I bowled a 794. I know we bowl on some soft conditions, but this ball can strike. This is a must ball for every bag! I will be bowling 6 reg. in the next 7 weeks and I will fill you in with more info.

Revrate 325 - 360
speed 15 - 17 mph
axis 4 3/4 x 1/2 up
Ball drilled 4 1/2 by 3 1/2 small hole mb at 50 degrees

First off let me say that I was skeptical about Columbia's new promises of having a ball that is long and strong but gives alot of overall hook. BUT they nailed it in this ball. It is 4 - 6 more boards stronger then my Rogue and much cleaner and stronger on the back. The numbers are similar between the two balls and I knew the cover would be the determining factor and it is. This new cover columbia has is amazing, even though it is clean it still picks up the midlane strong so the ball is not to squirty and not to early, its just right. The new weight block really stores the energy well and also releases it at the perfect time. This ball is very versatile and extremely strong.

ON A TYPICAL HOUSE SHOT
I could play straighter or get in and hook it due to the cover allowing the ball to get down the lane. If you take a little hand out of it you can really manipulate your reaction through the fronts and down lane. This ball is great on the house shot, i threw 7 games with it today on a fresh pattern and just keep moving in and following the breakdown and it was great for 6 games, then i moved back right and took hand out of it and threw it harder and it still got down the lane and popped!!

ON CHAMELEON

I threw it yesterday when i had it drilled on chameleon and it was the same story. I could use this ball and just chased it in and then move back right and firm up on the speed and still make it work.

ON SHARK

This is where this ball really performed well. I could stand 20 or so to start and keep it inbetween 15 and 11 at the arrows and it was perfect, I could vary my speed a mile to a mile and a half and still it would make it back. When the carrydown started to transition and i could move in it had amazing power with the carrydown and actually i feel the ball excelled here because it created alot of tug and miss right.

All in all if i could sum this ball up in two words it would be STRONG and VERSATILE, two things everyone needs. This ball would be awesome in just about anyones hands due to the versatility and core/cover combo might be the best I have ever had.

Thanks for reading my e-view

Finally from Columbia a ball that explodes on the back end. As a staffer I have been begging for a ball that reacts like this. I finally feel like I have the edge, and I am looking forward to this tournament season with an anticipation I have not had in awhile! I will soon post specs and drilling info for comparison. Boys, things might be alittle different this year after this ball hits the shelf? Wow! For all whom remember the old Columbia hit an miss balls, open your eyes to this one. This ball has much more of a stronger motion than any other swing, its shell has some versatility and is dressed to kill, black trimmed in red. Hmmm similiar to another ball i once thru? An if i remember right even that ball sold one or two...great job Columbia welcome to the Assymetrical world. Also ck out its little brother "bedlam"

This ball gave me the roll and feel that I needed after being away from bowling for over twenty years. The feel and roll was exactly what I need to feel good about my game. My first game with it was a 224 and I was only averaging in the 140s with other balls that I bought, this ball is great, just let the driller know what you want it to do.

I really like this bowling ball. It actually really surprised me. Not only does it break really nicely and it is very smooth but it also hits like a truck. It pile drives the pins and if it hits the pocket, the pins don't usually stand a chance. I also was having the most luck i could imagine carrying ten pins. I never left one throughout 2 games. I would definitely give this ball a ten if there was an option

Well i got this ball to switch to when my siege couldnt get past the front or started over reacting. well it does its job perfectly. when my siege doesnt carry the corners cuz of too much angle or its picking up too early, i just switch to this and it picks up right where the siege left off. this ball is clean throught the front, revs up early and holds all the way to the pocket. and not only does it roll early but it flares late, it makes a great and defined move on the backend to the pocket. and best of all when this hits it takes the corners out due to the increased angle. this is my favorite ball as of yet, and ive gotten the siege and jigsaw along with this, and i like the full swing the best. i highly recommend this ball for medium conditions, transition conditions, or carry down conditions.

In response to a few of the negative reviews, I want to re-iterate the characteristics of the Full Swing. Despite it's relatively high differential (.056), it has a higher RG (2.51) than most of the comparisons being made to heavy oil balls on the market. Combined with the new Full Tilt 5.0 coverstock, this allows the Full Swing to "lope" thru the front part of the lane whereas some of your other heavy hookers will rev immediately off your hand. Depending on the lane condition, this means the Full Swing won't hook like the big boys.

But remember, a high performance price point doesn't just have to mean premium hook. If the Full Swing is a notch below others in total hook, it makes up for it in versatility and coverstock performance. I've been using my original Full Swing for easily 150 games now and have tweaked the surface at least five different times...still no loss of hitting power or performance. In the high performance line, this ball is by far the most versatile ball I've used. For example, I bowl Friday nights on a medium THS condition...I've taken a pin-up 5x4 drilling, sanded the cover to 4000 abralon, and then polished it with Powerhouse Delayed Reaction. The result is a ball that is super clean thru the fronts, strong enough to control the mids, and hook/sets in the pocket. I'm able to start in the same area as most others in the league and chase the pattern in with them...but I don't have to switch to weaker/low performance equipment. After three weeks (9 games) of league, I'm averaging over 240.

If you are looking for the highest hooking ball on the market, the Full Swing may not be for you. But if you are looking for versatility, predictable ball motion, and long-lasting performance, I highly recommend it.

THANKS!

This is my go to ball for all long patterns (sport shots) and for rather wet house conditions!

I absolutely love this ball! It is great for oily conditions and can create a hole in the lane (for sport patterns) to create a bounce or hook area!

I have had some great times so far with this ball and I am extremely proud and happy to own one!

As a Columbia 300 staff member in the Midwest, I've had the chance to fully test the Full Swing on a variety of conditions. For starters, the reaction and roll characteristics of this ball (as well the rest of the new lineup) are unlike anything I've seen from Columbia in the last three years. The new arsenal for 2009 is fantastic and I would recommend all the new releases to anyone.

I drilled my Full Swing with a 5x4 layout, placing the pin above the ring finger and the mass bias about 1" to the right of the thumb. The surface was left OOB, which is 4000 abralon.

The Full Swing shares the same "family" name as the Mo Swing and Power Swing, but the new cover and asymmetric core really set it apart. The Full Swing is stronger than both its predecessors with boards more overall hook. Where it is dynamcially different is on the back part of the lane. On higher volume tournament conditions, I'm actually able to give the pocket away with confidence that the ball will not skid past the break. On THS conditions, this ball has excelled for me as the pattern breaks down and I begin to see carrydown (backend reaction is almost too much on the fresh!). The Full Swing allows me to move inside of the transition and give it away...energy retention and hitting power is fantastic.

Thanks to Columbia for another great high performance release!

Hey Everyone. I am a 3 yr Columbia300 staff member and have been in the Pro Shop business for 15 yrs. I have a high rev rate and my PAP is 4 3/8 right X 3/8 up. with a TC(track circumference) of 11.5. I drilled my FULL SWING 5.5 in from pap which places the pin over my middle finger with the MB kick about 1 in right of thumb.

THIS IS IT! The ball all you Columbia300 fans have been waiting for. Columbia has arrived for the 09/10 season in FULL SWING. We have been using what we call Brand Signatures here at Ebonite International the last couple years in an attempt to maintain separation from our brother and sister brands. I am happy to say with the new balls we have completed strayed from that strategy. We’ve made some great balls the last couple years including the Resurgence, Momentum and Momentum Swing. This year we are adding some serious angularity to the line starting with the release of the FULL SWING. This the ball that has been missing in our line up that every one was asking for. Columbia300's first of its kind Mass Bias core. You wanted flip, you got it.

Very clean through the heads thanks to the 4000 finish and when it gets down the lane, LOOK OUT. flip flip and more flip. When you're looking for more flip on heavier oil condition this is the ball for you. My usual league shot is a 47 ft pattern where my RESURGENCE was my A ball but i had to slow down dramatically to the movement i was looking for, but with the full swing i can keep my speed up and worry if i'm gonna miss right. i brought it down to 2000 due to the heavy heavy oil conditions in the house where my shop is. but on the regular shorter house shout 43 ft lol 4000 was perfect. It holds the tug and comes back from anywhere (even the 1 splinter)with continuous back end and very strong through the pin deck.
THE FLARE IS RIDICULOUS ON THIS BALL. HI REV RATE PLAYERS BE AWARE OF BALANCE HOLES IN BIG HOOKING DRILL PATTERNS.
My second was a 4 x 4 drill with a 4in right hole and it flared all the way around to the other side past the weight hole .

Don't blink cause you'll miss the messengers.

A strokers dream ball

Have fun hooking and remember

Drilled my Full Swing (dual-angle) 40/40/4 1/2 Pin-to-PAP which is nearly the same layout I have on one of my Power Swings.
As much as I loved the Power Swing as I ended up drilling 4 of them, I have replaced a few of them with the release of the Full Swing. The difference between the symetrical and mass bias asymetrical is stunning. The Full Swing goes longer than my Power Swing and is much more angular as a result, but still gets back to the same spot. My test results on house as well as Shark pattern were impressive, even when I altered the surface and took my Full Swing down to 1000 dull. This is a great ball to start an arsenal with as your go-to ball out of the bag with the hook you need on fresh and carry-down patterns. What I was most satisfied with was the ability of the Full Swing to maintain a consistent breakpoint once the patterns started to dry up. The Power Swing at times has the tendency to want to jump at the first signs of friction where the Full Swing maintains its length and continuation from all angles. Try it and you won't be disappointed

The new Columbia 300 Full Swing is an amazing product! This ball gives you something that hasn't been seen until now in the Columbia line. The Full Swing creates a strong backend reaction thanks to the new Asymmetric core (and new Full Tilt 5.0 coverstock) that will help you increase your striking percentage! For as strong as the ball is, it still retains energy through the lane and saves that energy for where you needed it most...going through the pins! I have a hard time getting this ball out of my hand, I shot 834 in tournament play the first weekend I had it. I feel Columbia 300 has done a great job with the Full Swing, and I think you'll like it too!

Columbia's new piece of equipment, the Full Swing, has that magical combination of easy length through the fronts, a smooth transition, and good movement on the back. The ability to create a ball that has all three qualities is a rarity and has happened only a few times in the bowling world. This is that ball and I would highly recommend getting a hold of one of these. You'll miss out if you don't!

The Full Swing is a great compliment to the Power Swing. I drilled one with a 4 3/4 pin under the ring and the cg is on the horizontal grip line. This layout gives a dramatic breakpoint with moderate length. This drill squares up in the pocket well. Hook is not a problem with the Full Swing.

This will be one of Columbia's signature balls. I have two and drilled one with pin over middle finger and cg,mass bias kicked out in line (right handed). Tried this layout for the first time and glad I did. This ball's backend reminds me of the Resurgence. Because of the weaker layout I still get the smooth arc on the ball but was very surprised at the backend I got with it and it is just the out of the box finish. I haven't even started to play witht the surface on it. It worked well on the Kegel Route 66 pattern and I have only had one regional (Viper) that I have tried it on. It was also good early on there but because of lane surface became to aggresive by mid-set. This ball is highly recommended to anyone looking for something for heavy to medium oil.

This ball is going to be a special one. The movement down the lane is something that columbia hasn't had in years. My first one is drill 60x40x4 inch pin which lets it get though the front clean but reads the mids well and still has alot of pop in the back of the lane. This layout for me eats ups the house shot and am looking forward to using it in the fall tournament schdule. You can't go wrong with this one......

I drilled my ball up several days ago and was throwing it shortly thereafter. This ball is AMAZING!! I can cover boards with this ball without it being jumpy. It is smooth with a continuous motion and keeps enough energy to allow for great pin action!!

I recommend this ball!

Being a regional staffer for a few years now i am very excited about the new releases. The Full Swings' motion is something that i have not seen in a long time. I have always loved Columbia and this line should bring them back to the front of the pack. Compared to the Resurgence it definitely has more backend. This is not a skid/flip ball but it has a more continuous backend motion, as the Resurgence is more rolley. It is easily readable down the lane and hits like a ton of bricks. This ball will fit into any type of bowler's bag. Whether you are a high rev player, straighter or a tweener. I recently used this ball on the mens US OPEN condition in a sweeper and had the front 10. I finished 2nd in the sweeper being the only woman to make matchplay. This ball made the tough condition seem easier. The field even included two pba exempt pros. Do your game a favor and buy one!!

I don't know what a couple of these posters are talking about. If they don't like this ball, they need to find a new pro-shop.This ball outhooks my Power Swing by 6 or 7 boards and it is all in the backend. I first threw it on a THS. At 4000 abralon and lightly polished it was a little over/under.I took it to 2000 and polished it and couldn't believe the reaction. Miss left in the flood, still rolled up and hit.Missed right and it was still clean down the lane and roared back and hits fantastic. I then took it back to 4000 polished on a flatter condition. I still had 3 boards area at the arrows and couldn't leave anything but an occasional 9-pin.If you want to see what this ball can do for players without a lot of hand, watch the Linda Barnes video at Columbia. The only problem for Columbia with this ball is that it will be tough to improve on it!!!

Being a Columbia Regional Staff member for the last couple years, I was very excited to get a High Performance Assymetric ball.

My Full Swing is laid out 40x4"x45. 7/8" x-hole 2 1/4" below axis on VAL. For as strong a ball as the Full Swing is, it does not waste energy through the front of the lane. This ball really revs up hard in the middle and backend of the lane for a solid cover ball. This is the most angle I have ever been able to create down lane with a High Performance Solid. Defintely going to be seeing a lot of playtime in the bag this year, the Full Swing gets through the front of the lane great without sacrifing a strong midlane roll.

Another disappointing ball from Columbia. Don't get me wrong because of the 2 but it is not just that good a ball when compared with the other balls on the market that sell for the same or a little more. The Siege and the Virtual Energy are better balls by far. The can be found for less online, but at the same time some shops are asking for less because Columbia is having issues getting product to market. Since Ebonite bought the company I was hoping for something new, it is as if they have the same people doing the same thing, nothing.

This ball went way too long and just didn't carry well when compared to just about any other ball in my bag, past and present. Save your money.

The roll on this ball is average and nothing suprising or new. The ball rolls very much like the other balls in the swing line. I could not think of any reason why a person would purchase this ball if you already have one of the newer balls in the past year, nothing new here.

I got the Full Swing and the Virtual punched up on the same day. I always have my pro shop drill my balls at the same time, they seem to do a better job. Had them both laid out of the same. 4 X 4. The Full Swing reacted well but stacking it up against the Virtual Energy, sorry guys not a chance. The Full Swing is a good ball but the Virtual is a great ball. The Swing reacted pretty much like my last swing and I was disappointed with my carry.

I am a left handed bowler on Columbia’s staff and I must say the Full Swing is the hardest hitting, most controllable ball ever released by Columbia. I recently bowled in a PBA regional on Shark using the Full Swing and was able to play deep inside fourth and fifth arrow comfortably because the ball rolls so smooth through heads and reads the mid lane like it has GPS to the pocket, and saves the best for last the hitting power WOW!! This ball will create a lot of area for you on the longer patterns, and is versatile enough to be thrown on a house shot, if you polish it. This ball is a winner and will prove it this year. So go out and get a Full Swing with the confidence you will strike a lot!!

Well I was not sure which ball to buy and the guy in the pro shop only sings one song, "yea, it goes pretty long and hits hard". So after doing research, not even attention paid on my part. I got the Columbia Full Swing.

Getting the ball from bowlingball.com could not have been easier and the guy in the shop only orders once a week and I had missed that by a day so it was going to be at least 10 days. I had the ball from bowlingball.com in two days. Got exactly and I mean exactly what specs I requested, hand written note and everything, very pleased - up to this point.

I then go in the shop to get the ball drilled. You would think that at a "pro shop" that is IBPSIA certified, what ever that means, that they would not miss the specs I gave him. He was a hair short on the middle finger and a hair long on the ring, well that translates into a crappy job. He plugged, yes I did say plugged, the fingers and fixed it - after TWO more attempts.

I got out on the lane and the ball barely flips on our backends. It carries very poorly and I feel duped. When I went back to write a review I noticed that most of the glaring reviews were by Columbia staffers, which is ok, but I'm not sure they got the facts across like they should have. I will not buy another Columbia ball unless three good friends are throwing the ball and I can see them and I doubt that is going to happen.

I would recommend a Storm ball, I dumped the Full Swing. Went online bought another ball, the Virtual Energy, they drilled the ball with my specs, flawlessly, I love it. I will review the VE after I have a few more games. Right now I am pleased.

From what I have seen this ball looks very promising. It rolls stronger than anything they have had in awhile. I may give it a shot. I hope I can hold off. My finger is on the trigger for a new ball and the Virtual is out an ready. I will probably wait from what I have seen online. I would have liked to seen the ball roll before buying, any opinions anyone.

First ball out of the bag. Here is why. Its a very smooth and hard arcing ball for me. It reads the midlane very well and hits very hard on the back end. 4.5 X 5 layout with pin above the ring finger. when the ball starts to burn up in the front i simply switch to the Pure Swing!

I purchased this ball for my father as a Christmas present. He was struggling with the ball he had and kept saying "it was time for a new one!". The first night he used it, he shot a 530 series.

I have given the Full Swing what I give every ball before I move on, A CHANCE on a wide variety of conditions and many tweaks to the cover stock.

On long oil: This isn't the ball that you need, not enough.

House Shot: Holds its own but not in the top three of balls out right now.

PBA Experience: Too touchy and jumpy depending on what I am trying to do with the ball, very little forgiveness.

Dry Lanes: Put it away.

Tougher flat shots: I needed something that had a stronger yet more consistent roll.

Overall, I really stretched it not giving this ball a 2.

For me there won't be a next time. You try it and let me know.

Columbia has definitely found something with the new Full Tilt 5.0 coverstock in combination with the Asymetric core in The Full swing… This ball never stops! I used it at the USBC Nationals and this ball was getting back everywhere and it hits like a tank. This ball is definitely the ball if you are looking for that midlane roll with a left turn on the backend. Great job Columbia! Keep them coming.

WOW!!! I am a loyal Columbia 300 player and have every ball in any of the current lines and i have to say that this one just really stands out it is in a league of it's own interms of length overall reaction and carry,i drilled this ball to be clean through the fronts and to have a strong continuous but predictable ball motion and boy did it ever! This ball is just what Columbia needed and i would have to say that this ball is a front runner for ball of the year, trully impressed by this ball and hopes to see them fly out of all the proshop doors!
