Ebonite Magic Touch Reviewed By: bowlingball.com reviews by Tony Ruocco 07/01/2009 10:42 ( stars)
Ebonite's Magic Touch is the perfect compliment to the Magic.
Pin to PAP(5 1/8" over 1/8" up) - 4 1/2" above ring finger
Mass Bias Position - 4" from PAP right of the thumb
CG Placement - just right of center
Balance Hole - none
Surface Preparation - Out of Box
What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:
I was not a huge fan of the Magic, it was one of those balls that just did not roll very good for me. This is not a bad thing just sometimes balls do not match up well for certain bowlers. All the more reason we try and give you a variety of styles on our videos. This way if you throw the ball similar to
one of us we can be your test dummy before you purchase.
Since I wanted to give the Magic Touch a fair test I used the recommended layout from Ebonite. You will see this layout on a lot of balls out there because it is pretty safe and 99% of the time we know what it will
do. It should let the ball get down the lane without too much early motion and make a fairly aggressive move on the back towards the pocket.
What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:
Alright so whatever went wrong with me on the Magic was corrected on this ball. The Magic Touch was a totally different ball for me. It rolled just as I would have expected a shiny high performance ball to roll. It scooted
through the front without really reading any friction and made a very strong move on the back. Overall this may be one of the best ball motions I have seen from Ebonite's upper performance line of balls in a while. We have not yet tested the Evolve but to this point the Magic Touch is on top for Ebonite.

I threw this bowling ball with the out of box finish.
I have not had much luck in the past with the Ebonite bowling balls, however, I did like the Magic Touch. The ball was definitely clean through the heads.
If you watch the video, you can see that I was able to stay in a little deeper than I usually do because of the strong backend motion. I was crossing the arrows around 17 with a breakpoint around 12.

This is a good ball. i use it when the lanes start to get dry. It has a good arc but the back end is lacking a little bit. it is a good ball to have though.

I love this ball! I drilled mine 4x4 and took the surface to 2000. I don't have alot of hand, and doing this gave me the pop I needed on the backend. Very clean thru the front part of the lane. I watch Couch throw his, and it is amazing! I expect Ebonite, with it's new releases, to be a permanent fixture on T.V. this year. This ball is a perfect compliment to the Magic.

Got this ball at Kegel Training Center last week. Drilled 45x6"x30; something that would go long and snap hard on long oil patterns. Despite other reviews, I have found this ball to be exactly how I ordered. Ball hooks a ton on the backend, of course I have a 500 rev rate. On a 45 ft pattern at Kegel, I had to move 7-2 inside, playing over 23 at the arrows and around 13 at the breakpoint. This is an extremely strong ball that is quite versatile; adjustments with feet and target line are needed. I would advise 2000 Abralon because the backend is a little too strong though

This is perfect for any one who is having problems in dry to medium oil, it gets down the lane and hooks flush to the pocket. It is the perfect ball to have along the magic

It is my job to be objective, that is what I am consistently told. I am an Ebonite staffer who test balls. Again and again I am told to give my feedback, once the ball is released I am highly advised review the product positively. I review on another web site but less and less people go there so I wanted to make sure this got out on the largest online site, or at least that is what I am told and what research shows.
The short of it save your money, this is recycled technology by a company that is hurting and floundering under its current leadership. The ball is nothing special and I have found it to hook less and less with each throw. My advise save your money. If you decide I have a personally axe to grid, which I assure you I do not, I would like to hear your reviews on this site if you plop down the money for this ball. The Ebonite Magic Touch will not improve your game.

I laid my ball out 4 x 4, like the rest of my bowling balls. I was very disappointed with the reaction. It was not nearly as strong as I was told it would be. The ball tended to skid a lot further than expected and did not make the turn at all. I was disappointed with the carry and would not recommend this to any bowler who is serious about their game.

It is OK but it really seems to be more of the same thing. Nothing different or innovative. I like the roll but I like the roll on most of the balls I have. If you don't have a ball then its ok. You may want to look at the Virtual Gravity or the Virtual Energy, my teammates bought these and I have thrown them, they are good.

Used it for 6 games and let one of my fellow teammates have it. I have no use for a ball that can't read the lanes consistently. I tested this against other balls, I can't say which, I am on Ebonite staff and was very disappointed with this balls ability to carry when it hit the pins. I will stick for my other stuff for now. Looks like it is going to be another year with nothing but Storm, Roto and Brunswick making the shows on the PBA.
