MaxXX Zone, the ball to go to when you're looking for the Max.

Pin to PAP(5 1/8" over 1/8" up) - 6"
Mass Bias Position - n/a
CG Placement - center of grip
Balance Hole - none

Surface Preparation - 4000 grit Abralon on Haus machine for about 20 minutes (there is no polish on this ball)

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:
A few of the last Brunswick balls I tested tended to give me a real bad over/under ball reaction. In the past I have used traditional recommended layouts for these balls. Lately I have been doing a lot of our ball tests using this layout. It tends to help smooth out the ball motion while still allowing for plenty of hook down lane.

All we have heard about the MaxXX Zone is that it hooks. Judging by the way the cover stock looked out of the box I would have agreed without even seeing the ball go down the lane. We immediately thought it would be best to smooth out the 600 grit wet sand finish with some 4000 grit Abralon. After about 20 minutes in the Haus resurfacing machine with 4000 grit Abralon we found the ball to appear shiny as if we polished it. As I stated above there is no polish on this ball. The cover just smoothed out so much that it appears shiny. This was very common a few years ago for ball companies to use really high grit abrasives from the factory and it gave the ball a polished look with the texture of a matte or dull ball.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:
We only had time to do a little testing with this ball. We will do more in the next few days and update if need be. From what I saw right away I like the ball motion. It definitely was smooth through off my hand, I attribute this to the cover preparation. Down lane the ball made a very sharp move off the friction and hit extremely hard.

In the next few days I will test this ball more and maybe play with the cover to get it closer to box finish and see what that does.

Being a big fan of the Brunswick Smash Zone I was very excited to get my hands on this ball. Brunswick's MaxXX Zone core uses the same inner core shape as the Smash Zone. However, the weight distribution between the inner core and outer core has been adjusted to raise the overall RG. I Drilled mine 5" from my pap @ 45* without an extra hole and a finish of 4000 abralon and no polish. The first thing I noticed was how strong it picked up in the mid-lanes with out losing its back end punch. For me this ball is about 5 boards stronger than my Smash Zone. It gave me more area when the lanes were fresh, but as the lanes broke down I had chased the shot in and could still get the ball to recover and give strong continuous motion through the pin deck. The MaxXX Zone is a very strong yet versatile ball. When you need that little extra on tight lane conditions you should give strong consideration to this ball.

got this ball as a birthday gift wife let me order it but then made me wait 2 weeks to drill and use it . let me say it was worth the wait . i am a stroker and shoot on lanes with med to heavy oil, my usual shot was 3 and 1 on my older black widow but after my house changed the oil pattern it wouldn't come back till late in the second game and even then was iffy. the Maxx i am shooting pretty much the same shot and boy does it come back can't say i have had any problems when it dry's up just adjust a board or two left and put 10 in the pit i carry a 207 average and only bowl in one league sub occasionally but have shot several 260 games with this ball and feel it will be the one to get my 300 with . can't seem to get all 12 in the same game but have shot 14-16 strikes in a row several times . this ball is great and doesn't seem to get all oiled up like my old widow did. would i recommend this ball. ... well only to friends who want to step up there game and not spend all there off time with ball maintenance

This ball is good for what it is, and that is a very soft shell wrapped around a good core. As with all soft heavy hooking balls it doesn't hit real hard but hard hitting is not everything. This ball must be played straight down and in. Any left to right and it WILL NOT turn the corner. I am a high speed 220+ ave bowler who is honest about the equipment I buy. I love Brunswick and think this ball has its place in the bag. I gave this ball a 4 because it will hook in heavy oil and is consistent. What else can you really ask?

I'm a 170-175 average bowler, I bowl in two leagues (one sanctioned, one fun league) I don't practice really (too expensive). I'd have to say i'm a tweener (Not quite Cranker, not quite a stroker). My old shot was throwing straight on at the 10 board and letting it hook at the end.

I recently changed my shot now to where I stand at the 30 board and throw at the 15-20 board.

I bought this ball because I wasn't getting the results I wanted out of my equipment.

All I can say is this ball is phenomenal! My first time throwing it I threw a 620, the 2nd time I threw it, I rolled a 651!

To me, this ball is forgiving because if I throw it out to far to the right it usually bites back, sometime to hard but it my delivery not the ball. If I throw it too far to the left it usually holds and goes brooklyn.

Previously, I had bad issues with leaving splits. Not anymore! This is the best ball I have ever bought and I highly recommend it!

Finally a bowling ball for the rest of us. Ever notice how the vast majority of bowing balls are designed for the “power-player A “cranker†dude who throws the ball with 300 to 500 RPMs at 20 MPH. Ever see a ball demo video that wasn’t thrown by a cranker from the left side of the lane to the right side with a huge banana hook back to the pocket? Ever notice that most of the ball description state “increased length†so that a high rev player’s hook will not start until the backend of the lane. Well, the MaxXX Zone is for those of us who have trouble making the ball hook enough. This ball can be thrown by a low rev stroker with a down and in shot and get a good hook reaction. Right out of the box a low rev, high speed or combination of low rev and high speed player that normally has trouble getting the ball to hook will get a good reaction. The ball will start hooking early in mid-lane with it 660 girt surface and continue through the backend with great pin reaction. Power-players are the ones that would have to do surface work to reduce the hooking ability of the ball or increase length. It seems that most balls are designed to skid to the backend (while spinning like a car tire on ice) then flip direction once dry wood is reached -- all well and good for the power-players, but for the average Joe out there a ball that grips the lane early and start hooking ASAP is a thing of beauty. It is getting very hard to find a ball like this and I hope more will discover the MaxXX Zone. I have bowled over 40 games with it and yes, it does hook.

I took the surface up to 1000 with some polish. This gave me excellent length for such an aggressive ball. I threw it at 1000 dull and it was too much ball after 5 frames. I have this with a short pin with the pin below the fingers with the cg out 45 degrees. I was afraid this drilling would cause the ball to roll out. Not the case here, it had continuous motion throughout. This ball hits extremely hard, hooks extremely hard, and it just a great ball. Thank goodness, that Twisted Fury Solid just doesn't compare.

Out of the box this ball was amazing! It hits like a truck, and it is nice knowing that all I have to do is get it to the pocket. I used the ball in out-of-the-box condition for about a year, and just recently it needed some sprucing up as it lost some of its reaction. Everyone throws the ball different, but this ball carried me to a 299 game. Until then I had never had more than the front 7, and the last shot I got a board right and left a 6 pin. This ball will react just how you throw it, and I am glad I bought it.

I'm a 172 to 200 avg bowler depending on the the lanes and i have say this ball is great!! I stand about the 35 board and crank this thing out to the 11 board and let it slide out to 5 board and this ball comes back every time. my speed is about 20.8 to 22.9 mph and I've let guys that throw 11 to 15 mph throw it and every person has loved this ball. i have it drilled aggressive and to hook late. this ball works on the heaviest to medium oil depending on your throw, I've used this on every type of shot from sport to tournament to house shot and it does it all. definitely a ball to carry in the bag where ever you go!!

New to bowling, first ball. Had it drilled for fingers. Was told the ball was a heavy oil ball, but the lanes we bowl at simi dry. Since i do not have alot of rotation on the ball it is perfect for me. This ball was exactly what i wanted, destroys the pins and looks good doing it.

Actually ordered this ball last year before my PBA exp. league and Vegas Nationals. Drilled it pin down to get it rolling early and it was OK but nothing special with the OOB cover. Decided to shine it up with 1000 polish for league on our THS. WOW it made a HUGE difference. Playing outside 10 to 5 and it really turns the corner and destroys the rack. Was averaging 230 + and the ball cracked out above the finger hole. Sent it back to BB.Com and promptly recieved a new one. Thanks guys. Love this ball.

i've had this ball for about 3 months now, and can i tell you my average kept going up and up...i used to be about a 175 ave bowler on my sanctioned league, pretty heavy oil...since i got this ball my average went up to about 185 to 190. i bowl a pretty straight ball from the right and let it curve into the pocket, but with this ball i started to start mid lane and throw out to the right gutter and let it come back...it smacks the pocket pretty hard and if i dont get it out far enough it holds pretty nice to the point it hits the pocket or hits a dry spot and goes jersey.

.......i would say if you are a beginner in throwing a hook and ur equipment now isnt getting there, this ball is right for you.......

I picked this ball, because I needed something to roll on very oily old wood lanes. Simply, the ball didn't produce. Too much slide, even when thrown slower.

Gives a little more break than my Ultimate Inferno on regular lanes. Speed must be consistent to get the same breaking motion, the ball will give inconsistent results if your speed isn't constant. Still looking for a good breaking ball.

Bought this ball about a month or so ago, took it out i was stoked with the way it reacts. This is by far the best ball I have thrown great pin action. I use to throw alot of splits but not since i got this ball. The only problem i have is leaving a few ten pins not the balls fault its mine. Ever since throwing this ball my average has went up 15 pins. I highly recommend this ball it works perfect for heavy oil and also believe it or not it works really well on dryer lanes too.

maxxx zone is the perfect ball that i have ever use before. since before i had problems on leaving 10 pin, split n other common matters. Since i drilled my maxxx zone, i had no problem n i really satisfy the ball reaction, clear all the pins, bring down the 10 pin, great hook. Furthermore, it also a great ball on heavy lane. i recommend this ball to bowlers to improve their average n get high score in tournaments. great ball from brunswick.

Got this ball mid-febuary and let me tell you.. This ball is amazing as it just chews through any oil pattern out there. Another big thing is that this ball is very consistent at its breakpoint and all that jazz. I own the first fury and wasn't so impressed by the inconsistancies of the ball. However this ball has yet to let me down. I have bowled 70 or so games with it so far and still maintain an average around 195 or so. Now i just need to work with my mechanics for perfection...

I am a novice bowler. Before starting league this winter, I probably hadn't bowled more than a dozen games in my life and my average of 114 bespeaks of this. I had been using a Rawhammer Toxic with decent reaction, but nothing whatsoever could have prepared me for what the Maxxx did. The first night I used it in my league after drilling, I bowled my three highest games consecutively.. a 185, a 197, and a 209. This ball explodes when it hits the pocket, and has a nice and predictable break to it. You hit your mark on release and good things will happen. I can recommend this ball without and hesitation for beginners like me, and you will see a great improvement to your scores immediately!

I've gotten the BVP Rampage, Storm T-Road Pearl and Hammer No Mercy and NOTHING hooks like the new Brunswick Maxxx Zone. I absolutly love the way this ball rolls. I've used this ball on dry conditions and the result was extreme entry angle. I ended the game with at least 3 solid 9's, but that's not the balls fault. It reacted so well of the dry that I haven't left a 10 pin in like the last 8 games I've bowled with this ball. I bowled on heavy oil conditions and it was smooth through the fronts and finish with lots of power and backend. I HIGHLY recommend this ball to anyone and the price is UNBEATABLE. This is THE best ball I've ever throw.

OMG this ball is an awesome ball. I used to throw a toxic raw hammer that hooked when i got it but like every other ball started to get old and not hook at all really. Once i got this ball drilled it was like having a tornado hit the pins and just blasting them to smitherines. Im 14 and carry a 185 average and bowl in a youth league on saturday mornings. My high game with this ball so far since i've only bowled with it for 2 days is a 258. And im improving. But i would highly recomend this ball for anyone who is having trouble getting their bowling ball to finish through the pocket and knock all ten pins down. Well this is the ball for you if you dont want to see that 10 pin standing, and i think everybody knows what i'm talking about!

This ball hooks! If you are looking for a ball to use on long and or heavy oil look no further. Great midlane and continues very well on the back end.

The MaxXX Zone is much stronger than the fury solid.
I would recommend this ball to anyone looking for a heavy oil ball to fit into their arsenal.
