About the Bowler
Bowling Hand    Right Handed
Experience    Advanced (I have bowled in a league)
League Average    225
Ball Speed    Medium
Style    Cranker
PAP    5 1/8" over 1/8" up

The Radical Reax Version 2 adds more hook with more length and a stronger backend reaction then the original Reax.

Pin to PAP(5 1/8" over 1/8" up) - 5"
Dual Angle Layout - 55* x 5" x 35*
Balance Hole - n/a

Surface Preparation - Out of Box (500 grit Siaair/Royal Compound)

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:
I did not have much to go on except that I knew Radical was building off of the Reax and giving a stronger look with more length. I went with another pretty simple layout that works well for me on the fresh. The pin is up above my fingers with a strong drilling angle to help get the motion I want downlane.

Expecting to see good clearance in the heads with a pretty strong motion off the break point.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:
My first comment after throwing this ball is "Radical is not afraid of hook!" This ball is silly.

From the first shot I threw warning up to the last ball I threw I was thoroughly impressed with this ball front to back. Off my hand the ball was super clean, which only looked better with the super smooth color combination they went with.

The motion in the heads and middle was clean and then this thing just exploded on the back. This is the type of ball I love having in my hands because I feel like I can get inside of everyone else and just open the lane up without sacrificing any hit at all.

As the shots went on I was able to make pretty good moves left with each shot and I was able to do whatever I wanted with this ball. Radical is going through a change in their line-up and in my opinion they are doing a lot of things right. Everyone loves hook and the Reax Version 2 does just that, it flat out hooks.

If you have never thrown a Radical this is a great place to start. If you have then you know they have really good ball motions and you will fall in love with this ball.

I purchased this piece and my Reax Pearl at the same time, figuring they would offer a potent 1-2 punch. My guess was correct. This is by far the strongest ball I've ever owned, not to mention the first time I've ever used asymmetric pieces before. Now I see why they're used. I had my Reax Version 2 solid drilled pin up and I was not disappointed in the ball motion that I anticipated.

This ball is a monumental upgrade from the previous Reax balls. The only thing comparable about the Reax 2 to the two original Reax balls is the core. This ball is considerably cleaner than both of the Reax balls and so good around the back. It is a solid so it is a smoother shape but probably the most angular solid on the market. The cover is so clean and so strong downlane. It is a truly unique ball.

My layout is 65 x 5.5 x 55 with a p2.

After attending the Brunswick Seminar in November that Mo Pinel was introducing the Version 2 at, one of my friends and a former teammate was bowling, testing out the equipment. Mo recommended the "Double Thumb" drilling for him and it was Nuts! I tried the same drilling and wonder if this is truly legal???

I've bought many balls in the last 10 years, and nothing since the Marvel Pearl has impressed me like this ball. It is SO CLEAN through the heads, and then when it gets to the break point - JIMMY CRACK CORN and I don't care!!! As another friend and teammate noted, it's like it does absolutely nothing for 40 feet and then the core just stands up and says "WE'RE GOING LEFT!" The carry is fantastic with flush, light and heavy hits!

In a 6 Lane House that doesn't give up good scores, I've had 668 and 703 the last 2 weeks. As a reference, that was only the second 700 this year in all leagues.

The real beauty of this ball is that it can be drilled for any type of player. Check out the layouts provided.

COMMENTS
Drilled mine with suggested layout D (max flare) just to see how much we could get this ball going. On the fresh (41' THS on Pro Anvilane) it was impressive how the ball cornered right at the end of the pattern and just how strong but continuous the ball motion was. It was exactly as advertised...a stronger version of both of the earlier Reax balls, but definitely cleaner thru the fronts than the original, and not as angular as the pearl. I said it gave me the predictable shape of a Reax just with more overall hook. All in all, very pleased.
Probably threw 15 shots with it at league last night between practice, a few frames of game 1, and then on the left lane only in game 3 (to get me through the soup that developed on that lane), and it took to lane shine pretty quickly. But it was great when that left lane got tighter down lane and I could still just open up my angles, let it fly, and see it drive through the pins.
If you need a ball that covers a ton of boards but isn't dead sideways in the back end, pick up one of these at the end of October!

I have been able to throw my REAX Version 2 on a variety of conditions.

My rev rate and ball speed are pretty aligned at about 375/17mph.

I chose the double thumb drilling with the balance hole being a pitched 3/4 diameter.

Needless to say, the ball is pretty impressive out of the box. I found on the 43' sport pattern (after the first game) I was able to throw this ball with confidence as the lane started to break down, I was able to move in and send it a little and it was still able to read the pattern and no over react.

I would say this ball is about 3/2 stronger than my Solid REAX. With most of the motion coming on the backend.

Best regards,
Rory H

My Reax version 2 has a dual angle layout 90x2x50.
This layout works very well on a short pattern.
On the house shot that is 41 feet. I had to put a 2000 finish on it.
so it would pick up and go into a roll.
this is one great ball.
