The Motiv Tribal is my new favorite ball in my bag. It goes long and flips beautifully once it hits my breakpoint. I carries surprisingly well, too. it also recovers well if you miss your mark by a few boards, which I love. The #1 thing I look for in a ball is consistency, and this ball has it. Its a perfect medium lane ball.

About the Bowler
Bowling Hand    Right Handed
Experience    Advanced (I have bowled in a league)
League Average    215
Ball Speed    Medium
PAP    5 right 1/2 up

My Motiv Tribal: Drilled same as my Primal Rage Pin 1 inch above ring finger / CG 2 inches below ring finger
The Tribal is another great addition to follow the Primal Rage. Both the Tribal and the Primal Rage share the same cover the Fusion Pearl Reactive but in the Tribal the core is light blub core which is a first for a MOTIV ball. So you may ask what will be the difference.
The Tribal is much cleaner in the fronts than the Rage and more versatile than I was expecting, I have been able to open the lane and still get it back.
The cover is 2000 grit with Motiv Power Gel for shine. If you bowl in an older center or a center with high friction I would suggest taking the cover up to 4000 and use Power Gel to get through the mids.
Conditions I have used the Tribal on: 2013 USBC National’s, Yellow Brick Rd, Bourbon Street and various house/modified house shots.
Where it fits in my bag: It's now the second most angular ball in my bag and fits under my Primal Rage when that is hooking too much.
When I use it: Typically I start with my Primal Rage and when it is hooking too much and I need a ball that will get down lane and control the back ends I use the Tribal. That seems to be the start/middle of game 2 A THS. On a sport pattern I will take it one around game 3-4
Bowler Specifications:
Right Handed - Power Stroker
Ball Speed – 15 mph
Rev Rate 320
Positive Axis Point (PAP) 5 right ½ up

The new Motiv Tribal is quite surprising. Utilizing the proven Primal Rage (Aka. Red Ball) cover stock and new Halogen light bulb weight block this ball provides quite amazing results. It’s very angular but much longer than its predecessor. Its ability to get through the fronts and still make the strong angular move we come to know and love with the Primal Rage makes this ball a must have. It’s a ball motion that will provide great benefit both on your typical house shot as well as many of the tougher tour patterns. The Tribal’s strong back end motion and ability to get down the lane are definite plusses when adding to your current arsenal.
I recently tested (2) of this new release –one pin above the ring finger and one pin centered below both fingers. In general for me the pin down layouts seems to perform better but obviously that is always a matter of your personal style and ball roll. In this case the pin down version versus the pin up version provided me two quite different looks. The pin down as expected was much stronger early allowing the ball to read the pattern and provide a strong angular but controlled reaction. This was a great ball down progression from my Primal Rages. The pin up version on the other hand provided me with much needed added length and strong angular motion that set the two apart. The combination of these two bring me that additional added punch when my rage is too much!
This is truly a great additional to the family…Come get Motiv-ated.

The intention of the Tribal is for late blocks and short patterns, but I have found that it has even more potential. Because the ball is so clean it has allowed me to play some straighter angles on patterns that do not require me to throw left to right. So far in my efforts playing straighter it has looked great when I’m looking for something to transition a little faster downlane. Of course the majority of shots so far have been deeper on the lane and there is no doubt that is where this ball thrives. So far it has reacted very well to several patterns and it’s always a bonus when a ball is useable for more than what it is originally intended for. I can say that because I tend to play straighter when I can I like this ball so much already because it allows me to play in my comfort zone sooner, yet provides a strong motion downlane for my ball speed.

I'm a high rev 15-17 mph bowling RH. I have the TZ3 which is drilled pin up cg mid palm it goes long and straight and a nice snap left on 42' fresh backend AMF lanes. I'll stand in the left gutter throwing my TZ3 on my house shot and with the Tribal I can move in rough 6-10 boards and it works good on same shot with 2K no polish. Ive tried it with box spec not enough grab over/under 4k polished way over/under and 4K no polish slightly over/under. SO why am I comparing this ball to my TZ3 is easy I can start the night out with my TZ3 letting it flip into the pocket for 1 1/2 games change balls move right 6-10 boards as the heads dry out grab my Tribal and it's goes easier down the lane but flips harder and it's over from there just a matter of carrying the corner pins. My TZ3 is my benchmark ball for me I can put on as much revs as I need to and can take it to a stroker rev rate as well so to me the more I can swing it the better I bowl as long as the middle oil is there but once it's gone this is where the TRIBAL RULES so here's my warning and please listen as you to may be over taken by your local craker tossing the TRIBAL remember if your not tossing a TRIBAL don't cry once a TRIBAL beats you on burnt up lanes its a beast.

Wow! The folks at Motiv could easily have called this ball the "Freight Train". That's how hard it hits. I am a high average bowler with a 220+ average but by no means a power bowler. Friends who know my game were amazed at how much energy I was able to create and store with this ball and then ultimately bring to the pocket. Pins exploded off the deck like I was a twenty something cranker. In actuality, I am senior whose game is down and in or at times a "tweener".

When this ball makes its left turn, the break point is smoother (read rounder) than the Venom Toxin's hockey stick turn. But, it is every bit as continuous and brings crazy energy to the pins. Do yourself a favor, add this ball to your arsenal for medium to dry conditions ....... most house shots, really.

If you have been seeking a ball to use on a medium oil shot and want a real "long goer", you just found it. With a $130 price point, Bowling ball.com has done it again, bringing you real quality at a reasonable price. I was the first kid on my block to use this ball in our local house. Based on the number of inquiries I received about the ball, I won't be the only one much longer.

Motiv Tribal
Using the same cover from the Primal Rage the Tribal is a lot of bang for your buck. This ball is a lot cleaner through the front part of the lane and still angular on the back end. I drilled this ball very strong and it actually fits very nicely between my two primal rages. I also love hoe this ball comes off of the spot and makes the corner. This ball is very good on both house shots and also getting left when they start to open up a little. I was shocked when first throwing this ball on how it moves with having a light bulb core. This ball is becoming a benchmark ball for me and usually the first ball out of my bag on most shots. I have seen the Tribal used by both lower and higher average bowlers and it seems to be very versatile which makes it a must have in the Motiv lineup. This ball will be in my bag for a long time!!!
