Make the smart choice... go with the Storm IQ Tour bowling ball if you want tame the lane!

Pin to PAP(5 1/8" over 1/8" up) - 5 1/8"
PSA Layout - 5 1/8" x 6" x 2 3/4"
Balance Hole - n/a

Surface Preparation - Out of Box (4000 grit Abralon)

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:
With Storm's release of the IQ and IQ Tour at the same time we wanted to see the actual difference in the ball motions without the layout being a factor.

I kept the layout very simple placing the pin 5 1/8" from my PAP just above my ring finger and using a smoother placement for the cg keeping the ball from over reacting and really letting me see the way the ball rolls.

With the smoother finish and differences in core/cover we expected to see a noticeable difference in the ball motion from the IQ.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:
Awesome, awesome, awesome. The IQ Tour was perfect, it showed me plenty of difference in motion from the IQ and I loved the movement this ball made and the look it gave me.

In the video the ball motion differences look very subtle, but do not be fooled by this two ball line up as you will see plenty of differences in the look you will have from ball to ball. The IQ Tour offered a smoother motion off my hand allowing me to open up the lane for a strong backend move off the break point.

This overall motion suited my eye more then the IQ normally would but on a fresher pattern I can see where I would need the IQ and then transition into the Tour as the night progressed. The IQ Tour saved up more energy for a sharper motion down lane but still offered plenty of roll and read throughout the lane from the heads to \the pins.

I think the two ball punch of the IQ and IQ Tour will offer a great variety to play multiple conditions and I promise you will see a lot of this ball from Storm staffers this season.

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

After looking at the core numbers and the fact that it's called the "Tour", I was expecting something predictable, smooth and versatile. I also was expecting a ball that wouldn't be overly aggressive.

On tough conditions you want a ball that is easy to read and something with a controllable reaction. I was expecting exactly that from the IQ Tour.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

I got half of what I expected from the IQ Tour: predictable, smooth and versatile. What I wasn't expecting was for this ball to hook the way it did! The Tour was more aggressive than it's IQ brother with very good length for a matte finished, solid coverstock. The IQ Tour has an easy-to-read but strong backend reaction.

This ball reminds me of one of the Top 3 favorite balls of all-time, the Storm T-Road Solid, Ball of the Year for 2007. Not only is the color almost the same, but the reaction is almost dead on! If you ever threw the TRS, you know how amazing it was. To be able to have that reaction in my bag again makes me very excited!

This ball is a guaranteed winner. It isn't the most exciting looking ball, but the scores you put up will be. Get one in your hands!

Storm IQ Tour Edition

PAP : 4 ½ & ½ up
Rev Rate: 400-425 rpm
Ball Weight: 15lbs
Right Handed

The Storm IQ Tour Edition is another great addition to the Master Line. If you are looking for a benchmark ball to see how the lanes are playing, this is the ball for that. I like this ball so much, I’ve drilled three of them. I’ve drilled one strong, weak, and in-between. All three are going to be going with me to the World Series in Vegas.

I am very confident this ball serves its purpose on all types of conditions. It takes surface well and when it shines up, definitely has a quicker response time because of the .029 differential. Side by side with the IQ, the Tour Edition is cleaner through the front part of the lane with a quicker response time down-lane.

I would recommend this ball on medium/heavy volume patterns, especially when you need a ball to make the corner without using a pearl ball. The strongest one I drilled (3.5 x 3 with a hole on my axis) is definitely early and uses a lot of energy in the front part of the lane. The benchmark drilling is 4.5 x 4 and is a great ball for league or to blend out the end of a pattern. The weaker one I drilled (5.5 x 5, no hole) is very good when I have to get inside of 20 and create a larger shape down lane.

Go drill one, you won’t be disappointed!

Ball drilled pin up, slightly right of ring finger (RH). This ball rolls brilliantly! Used it on a short pattern (35') and was shocked how well it got through the heads and waited to the end of the pattern to make a move - and boy did it move! It reads the full lane about as well as any ball I have ever thrown. Whether I kept my hand behind the ball or gave it some side rotation...the IQ Tour stayed on target and took care of business once it reached the pins.

This ball will see A LOT of action on THS and shorter patterns. I don't know how well it handles longer/higher volume, but I look forward to finding out!!!

Out of the box this thing was a monster, very strong and controllable. ten games later, this thing became the most inconsistent ball known to man. This ball is so over-under it's not even funny. no forgiveness. If my ball speed is just a little bit fast. this thing will slide way past the pocket. if I am too slow, the opposite happens. It jumps so hard and overreacts. I threw some polish on it to see if it would help. It is a little more consistent but still really over-under... I wish you could return bowling balls.

Hello All and thanks for reading.
Storm you have certainly outdone yourself. Sometimes less is more so the saying goes. We are all familiar with this shape core from the other IQ and Marvel series but changing the densities has made a winner. This ball is the new industry benchmark. I have thrown this ball (layout 65 x 4 3/4 x 65) on every house shot on every lane surface on every animal pattern and had much success. Surface changes are easy and very effective but mine stays box surface with maybe a slight glaze. With a core that helps the ball hold energy downlane and into the pins this ball is easy to score with. Smooth through the front, midlane transition is predictable and continuation is the best in the biz right now. Enjoy this one guys, it may be around for a long time....at least I hope so.

The Storm IQ Tour Edition is the C³™ Centripetal Control Core, with the R2S solid coverstock. This ball gives an unparelled smooth reaction, with the hitting power of most Premier Line balls.
I drilled the IQ Tour with a 4 3/4" pin, 5 1/2" MB, and a 4 1/4" pin buffer. This is a lower flaring, smoother layout for me. The orginal coverstock comes at a 4000 grit finish. I used the ball for around ten games with this finish. I found that the ball read the lane really early, but didn't overreact. It resembled the reaction of strong urethane balls of the 80s, but still has power through the pins that the current Storm bowling balls are known for. This ball will be perfect for medium to heavy oil conditions. Due to it's very early read, and extended continuation throughout the whole lane, it should make adjustments really easy to make. I was able to see what part of the lane was drying out, and adjust accordingly much easier than with other bowling balls.
Because my house shot is light oil, I polished the coverstock with a heavy coat of Storm Step 3 polish. This stopped all of the early read on the lane, and allowed the ball to clear the heads, and only have a light mid-lane read. By not using any of it's energy early on the lane, it multiplied the downlane power. I was able to move 10 boards to the right, and play almost straight up the boards. The ball still made a smooth reaction, albeit much later on the lane, and drives through the pin deck harder than any ball I have thrown to date. Amazing that a solid coverstock could be shined up, and still work as well as sanded. I flat out love this ball!

It won't be long before you are unable to find your Tour IQ on the ball return among all of the other Tour IQ's.

I needed a ball that had a little extra movement in the back end of the lane. Not that I couldn't get my existing equipment to do the job I just needed a ball that could do it on its own. I had Tish Johnson drill this one up and WOW does it ever turn up. Once the Tour IQ makes the turn it does not stop, nor does it run it out of energy at the pocket. On a 41' sport condition the field couldn't touch the head pin from outside the 10 board. With Tour IQ I was bringing it back from 5 all day long effortlessly!

I have the ball drilled 1" Pin Down in between the fingers, Mass Bias 2 1/2" away from the thumb at the 2 o'clock position with a weight hole 4" away from thumb at the 4 o'clock position.

This is a MUST have ball.

The IQ Tour is an amazing ball for all types of bowlers because of it's versitility. This ball is smooth, controlling, reads the lanes well and allows you to controls the back end. I would recommend this ball for medium to heavy conditions. It clears the front part of the lane and still responds, comparable to a pearl ball. Mine is drilled pin up and I have adjusted the surface to 1000 abralon using a surface factory machine for slicker conditions.

I bought this ball hoping id get a nice controlled reaction, as the lanes I bowl on are way strong at the break point. The first night I bowled with it I couldn't get a consistent reaction from shot to shot, I still averaged about 205 but it wasn't what I was looking for. I took it home and polished it to approximately 1000 grit. I threw the ball and struck, and continued to strike the next 11 shots for a perfect game. Finished the night with a 757 series and have averaged 235 for the last 4 weeks, so dont be afraid to change the cover stock. This is a great ball once you figure out how to use it. I believe storm has another winner here. Thanks Jim Simonson

Love it! This ball is a great addition to my lineup. It gives me the punch I need as a tweener to cut through the oil and get to the pocket on the early part of the nioght. I would anticipate that it will also work on those tournament lanes..

Storm IQ Tour Ball Review
by Storm Staffer Casey Murphy

Right Handed
Rev Rate: 375-400 Rpm
Ball Speed: 16 mph
PAP: 4 5/8 straight across

Location: Sunshine Lanes
Lane Pattern: Typical House Shot
Layout: 35, 5 3/4, 40 with a p1 hole

Go buy this ball. If you throw Storm equipment the IQ Tour is a MUST HAVE. The low RG and low diff core, combined with the proven R2S Solid Reactive cover creates a special combination. The midlane motion and controlled backend of the IQ Tour allow it to be used on both house patterns and tougher sport patterns. After drilling the IQ Tour, I won the next 3 tournaments I bowled, which were on high, medium and low scoring paces respectively. The IQ Tour created a special reaction on all that the rest of the bowlers in the field couldnt match.

Predictable/consistent roll in the midlane + strong fast reving controlled backend = dominant reaction. Like the Virtual Gravity, HyRoad, and Frantic, the IQ Tour is the new essential ball for Storm Nation.

IQ Tour 60 x 4 x 75 Pin Down
Let me first by saying “WOW” about throwing the IQ Tour.
The IQ Tour uses the fast-revving symmetrical C3-Centripetal Control Core with a low differential of .029 in 15 pounders. The Tour uses the R2S solid coverstock (4,000 Abralon box finish). The IQ Tour should be nickname “midlane”. The Tour is a ball that is hard to throw through the breakpoint. This is a ball that just reads the lane the correct way.
Leaving the ball at box finish, I bowled on the Kegel Turnpike pattern and had great control of the pocket. This pattern doesn’t have a lot hold and swing, so it was hard pattern to consistently hit the pocket. But with the IQ Tour strong midlane I was able to create a little miss room and score very well on this pattern.
For league I applied Storm Step 2 Compound as our local houses are on the dry side.
This gave me some added length but still gave me great control of the breakpoint. I could play up the lane or I could circle the lane with the IQ Tour. If you remember the Special Agent, the IQ Tour is very close. Even with the low differential I was amazed with the good hitting power and carry that it delivered. This is a ball that every tournament bowler should have in his or her arsenal. Great product from Storm!

My layout: 65 x 4 1/4" x 35
My PAP: 4 3/4" over 1 5/8 up

The IQ Tour is an incredible bowling ball. I have used this ball on a variety of conditions, low scoring as well as high scoring. The IQ Tour gets through the front with ease, then reads the mid lane, and then continues through the back in a motion that is very smooth and predictable, yet very powerful. This is a combination that really fits my bowling style well.

I feel it is very important for any serious bowler to have a ball in their ball with a very predictable motion like the IQ Tour. It is a lot easier to read lane conditions as well as the transition when you ball isn’t doing tricks as it goes down the lane. I think bowlers tend to make more quality shots when they are lined up. The IQ Tour adds up to more consistency and higher scores.

In closing I had a lot of tournament success with the IQ Tour on a variety of different shots. The ball reacted great in tournaments on a house pattern, modified house pattern, Dick Webber, as well as Stockholm. The angle I played was out as far as 2-3 and as deep as 17. The ball performed equally great on all these conditions at a variety of angles. The IQ Tour is the first ball out of my bag in every tournament!

The IQ Tour is the best bowling ball I have ever owned. I used it for the first time in league play the other day and rolled 195, 255 and 279. The first game was either a strike or a ten pin and once I altered my hand position I began striking on both lanes. The IQ Tour hooks earlier than I expected and I had to alter the cover with polish to get it down the lane a little further. It is a very strong ball with a smooth hooking reaction. I have been so happy with it that I ordered another one!

The IQ Tour edition combines the C3-Centripetal Control Core with the R2S cover finished with 4000 abralon.

I have used this ball primarily on a 40\' heavy oil house shot so far, aside from a couple of games this past weekend when I needed something to step down from the IQ to in order to clear the front of the lane a little better but still handle the volume of oil in the midlane. This ball handled both just fine.

What I saw this ball do on the house shot prior to shooting a demo video was insane. The ball literally struck from everywhere on the lane. One shot that I completely threw out the window recovered and struck. This ball will without a doubt help most bowlers open up the pocket.

Storm says \"Since we built the IQ Tour Edition to be the foundation of your arsenal, you can be confident in the fact that this ball will be consistent across a variety of lane conditions.\" I see no evidence to contradict this statement.

I see the IQ and IQ Tour being a great 1-2 combination in anyone\'s bag. The IQ Tour when a sharper reaction is needed off the spot and the IQ when you need an earlier read and smoother backend reaction.

Storm Bowling Products enjoyed much success on the PBA tour this past season and that doesn\'t seem to be changing with Rhino Page winning in the South Region on June 17th with the IQ Tour Edition.
