I have bowled for many years and when my pro-shop owner, who drills all my bowls, suggested that I buy the Dark Encounter, I said yes. Well let me tell you, this is the most aggressive bowl I have ever had. This ball would hook in a hurricane. This ball is definitely not made for the new bowler. It is made for the bowler who is not afraid to stand to the extreme left on the lanes and watch his, or her, bowl go across the lanes and break back with total disregard for how much oil is on the lane. I am sure that your pro-shop owner could drill the ball to be less aggressive, but I do not know why you would want to. I just purchased the Brunswick Meanstreak Bowling Ball as a complimentary ball for the Dark Encounter. The Meanstreak goes longer but still comes back strong. With these two balls I can take on any and all lanes conditions.
This is a great ball with tremendous hooking power. It has a nice arc reaction with decent back-end, so it is very controllable but strong. I would recommend this ball to anyone as it is one i am very happy using.
