I bought the New Taboo just for the free spare ball they call it, but I have used the Taboo 4 times and the Taboo spare every night on Monday for a STRIKE ball. I love this ball on the dry/wet lanes. I rev it up a lot and this ball is a beast. High game 257 so far with it. My Monday night no matter what I use it hooks I have to swing this plastic ball on fresh oil they call it but it's dry to me and love this ball on the shot. After having my 2nd knee surgery on my sliding leg I am forced to slow the ball down some now and it's hurting my style of bowling so I'm starting to use a lesser ball then needed but still putting revs on it to do what I want and this works great. So the electric taboo just sits on my floor not doing anything but collecting dust until my tournys start. Great ball and don't be fooled by someone telling you oh its a spare ball since it's plastic that's what the pro shop guys tells me and then I beat his ass with this ball and hmm yea he changed his mind at what a power bowling can do with a plastic ball that has a core in it. I feel a 300 or even a 800 coming from this ball soon. great ball.

I got this ball free when i ordered my taboo blue and silver and this ball is AWESOME!!! not only are the colors bright and cool but the ball attracts a lot of attention! the polyester coverstock and the gas mask core are a great combo for people who wanna shoot single pin spares straight at the pin and want to be able to move right on dry lanes and hook the ball a little. I had the ball drilled straight up and I couldn't be happier with a spare ball.

Although a senior bowler now, I'm still a cranker with a lot of hand. This winter, I returned to league bowl at a house that I ran away from almost 2 decades ago because of its very DRY lanes; a friend of mine talked me returning. The lanes hadn't changed. Still DRY but DRIER than I recalled. No matter what ball I used, or drill pattern, I ended up on lane 1 to bowl on lane 24--talk about a deep inside shot (just kidding).
A highly polished Storm Natural (both Pearl and Solid) had great possibilities, however, same thing--standing deep, swinging the 25 to the channel and going way Brooklyn as the night progressed. Time for the plastic house ball!!
Last week, I was visiting my pro shop, just chilling, when I mentioned the terrible shot at this particular bowling house. Of course, he kidded me and explained that I had too much hand for that house and to run away. But, since that wasn't in my plans, we kicked some ideas around.
I decided to take his advice and drill up a plastic ball--the Hammer Taboo Spare--as my primary ball using Hammer drill pattern #2(c) with the pin drilled out under the ring finger. No weight hole. Good move.
When I got to the lanes, I shot the 7 board down and in. Although it turned towards the 7 pin, I saw great possibilities. I opened up the lanes and was able to swing anything between 10 and 17. The Taboo seemed to glide through the heads, read the midlane and SCREAM to the pocket. It hit HARD. Only one 10 pin through 3 games--mostly 4 pins because it TURNED (not snapped) AGGRESSIVELY to the pocket and did not roll out.
The Taboo Spare is a great ball for DRY lanes as a strike ball. It's also a great spare ball--just don't hit it as hard. I'm thinking of trying it in MEDIUM oil patterns to test it further. If you've got a lot of hand (revs) and need a DRY lane ball, look no further--and get in all the pots!!!
