About the Bowler
Bowling Hand    Right Handed
Experience    Advanced (I have bowled in a league)
League Average    225
Ball Speed    Fast
Style    Cranker
I am a cranker who likes to play the deep shot to stay away from most other bowlers on league night. I carry a 225 average and I have always bowled like this.

The Lucid, with its original factory finish just seemed to fall short for my style of bowling. Our center usually has more oily conditions (pattern lengths from 41-45 feet). I throw across about 15-18 board and let the ball reach between 5-8 board at its break-point. The ball has a hard time getting through the heavy oil mid-lane and by the time it reaches its break point it comes in about 1 board to the left of the 3 pin. I went back to my Virtual Gravity (as it has no trouble getting through heavy oil) while i toyed with the Lucid to find a finish that worked.

I bought a 500, 1000, 2000 grit abralon sanding disk and tried all 3 finishes (after stepping up to the finish from 180-360 grit). None of these abralon finishes gave me enough grip to get through the mid-lane. I finally took a shot and tried sanding it with traditional 600 grit sand paper (again stepping up with traditional paper from 180-360-500). My first series I bowled with this finish was 279,245,216 for a 740 series.

I now love my Storm Lucid. It holds through the mid-lane oil and has an explosive backend reaction and the pins just disappear when it hits them.
