Threw this ball at a demo recently. Ball was drilled with pin above ring finger and kicked slightly right.
Throwing on a THS, the ball got through the heads clean - even after they had burned up a bit. The color scheme of the ball makes it very easy to read on the lanes. You could see this ball revving up in the mid-lane to make it's move in the backend - and the backend strength did not disappoint.
Comparing it to my Columbia Wicked Encounter (a similar strength hybrid, although dull not polished), it has a very similar look through the heads and mid-lane. However, I believe the Defiant Soul had a more profound move in the backend. Also, the DS could be taken deeper left and still react off the spot at the end of the pattern better than the WE.
OVERALL - if your arsenal is in need of a strong hybrid and you miss the strength of the Storm Virtual Energy, the Defiant Soul may be the closest ball I've seen that compares. It is a "must have" for your arsenal.
