Went with this ball after finding myself coming up consistently short with my Ebonite Evolve. The Evolve was much too aggressive for my slow throw speed and high rev style, and I needed something that would carry longer. This was especially evident on dryer lane conditions.
After bowling three practice games with the Tropical Storm, I was very happy with my choice. I found that this ball had the distance I was looking for. I was able to consistently hit the pocket using several different lines with good continuation after the break point. However, it should be noted that my old Evolve did have stronger back end continuation due to its more aggressive core.
The scent on my particular Tropical Storm (yellow/purple) was pina colada and is quite pleasing. The fragrance was more potent that I had imagined, and can be faintly detected when just walking in proximity of the ball. Presumably, the scent will gradually diminish over time like new car smell.
Other balls I was considering included the Storm Tropical Heat, Brunswick SlingShot, Brunswick Power Groove, and Ebonite Hard Ball.
