Experience the controversy for yourself with the Hammer Scandal Pearl.

Pin to PAP(5 1/8" over 1/8" up) - 5"
Dual Angle Layout - 45* x 5" x 30*
Balance Hole - n/a
Surface Preparation - Out of Box (500/1000 Abralon w/ Factory Finish Polish)

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:
The Scandal Pearl from Hammer is the second version of the Hammer Scandal. The pearl should offer a smoother look through the heads with a stronger, more angular motion off the spot downlane.

I went with a stronger pin up layout to see what this ball could do downlane. I am expecting some serious angles off the spot and a sharp motion through the pins.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:
Hammerheads be ready. The Scandal Pearl is all that you could want from a high performance pearl ball.

The Scandal Pearl offered an amazing compliment to the original Scandal with a cleaner motion through the heads, smoother transition and a crazy amount of hook downlane.

Off my hand the Scandal Pearl was as clean as any HP Pearl ball we have thrown recently. It glided down lane allowing me to move in and open up the lane. Through the mids, the Scandal Pearl transitioned very well, reading some friction but never over reacting. This allowed me to stay online setting up for a devastating motion off the break point.

Off the spot this ball was crazy. I was able to create the angles I was hoping for and the ball always came back. As it went through the pins there was Zero deflection which allowed me to really open up the right side of the lane.

All in all, another great release from Hammer and in my opinion the perfect follow-up from the Scandal and an even better league ball.

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

The Scandal was an amazing ball for me on heavy conditions. I was hoping to see more length with a stronger backend reaction.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

The Scandal Pearl is exactly what I was expecting, and that's a really good thing. More length, more energy retention means a stronger reaction on the backend. What I love about this ball is you still get some of the amazing mid-lane read that you saw from the Scandal. This really helps reduce over/under from the pearl coverstock. It also ensures proper angle into the pocket for increased carry percentage.

If you were a fan of the original Scandal, the Scandal Pearl is a must have. The ability to move inside and create a stronger angle will allow you to cover a very wide range of lane conditions. Another winner from Hammer!

Hammer Scandal Pearl drilled mine with pin down so that I could control the move in the backend. This ball is awesome has all the backend and with this drilling very easy to control the move. Great ball to open up the shot I will stat with this ball on most oil patterns.

About the Bowler

I was extremely impressed with this ball. Being entirely honest, I was hesitant after not being a huge fan of the original Scandal. I had to drill two Scandals before I found a layout that worked out with my roll.
With the pearl, I did not have that issue. The first one I received I did a pin over the ring layout hoping I would get length and a powerful punch on the back end of the lane. And that's exactly what I received.
I used this ball out of box in league last week and shot 259-289 the first two games with it.
I was 100% impressed with the way the ball got through the heads so cleanly and the angularity in the back. This pin up layout will certainly favor those who prefer to see that kind of motion in the back... so the high speed and high rev players who like to see their balls hook would be best for this layout in my opinion. Those with lower ball speed and like to play straighter should consider a pin down layout for a smoother, arc kind of shape.
I would suggest this ball for all kind of players, whether it's for a league player, a person who bowls tournaments every now and then, and even the daily tournament player. This ball is predictability with a punch!

I tried this ball at a demo a couple weeks ago and was very impressed. The original Scandal was too much for me and wouldn't have any energy left at the finish, but this ball consistently retained plenty of energy all the way through the pin deck. Now that it's released I had one drilled for me before my league tonight and I have never been more pleased with a ball purchase.

This ball has a strong midlane read for a pearl cover and an unbelievably smooth move once it hits the breakpoint. Very easy to control even as the pattern is breaking down and pin carry was excellent all night long

For a league bowler who wants something controllable with a lot of hook, I highly recommend giving this a try

Hello my name is Tony Santa staff Hammer Ebonite International, last night I had a series of 1007 (279-248-258-222) in 4 games with my new Scandal Pearl. The layout was using 45 X 51/4 X 30 out of box, excelent reaction on the lane to be a symmetrical ball. A clean ball in the mid lane with a strong reaction at the end, will not disappoint, tremendous ball.

Hey Y'all.... Stefanie Johnson here.... so I was a fan of the original Scandal, however this ball completely blows it out of the water! This has to be the most "skid flippy" ball I have throw in the Hammer line - and that's a lot coming from a down and in type of player. A great addition to your arsenal if you are looking for something that will allow you to open up your angles and go more left to right. A side note - the colors of this ball are fantastic!

I know I couldn't wait for the scandal core to have a pearl cover wrapped around it. This ball is everything and more that I have expected. So clean thru front and mid lane and a very strong hook down lane. I thought my Rebel was strong until I threw it against Scandal Pearl, it was overall stronger by 5-7 boards. This was true for pin up and pin down drillings. Check out my video at hammerbowling.com or on YouTube

Scandal Pearl
Rev
Layout: 20 x 4 1/2 x 70

The Scandal Pearl is unlike any high performance pearl I have ever thrown. I usually don't like pearl coverstocks in the high performance line because it is hard for me to get the reaction that I am looking for out them, but this ball gives me everything I wanted and more. The layout I used placed the pin below the fingers giving me more midlane control, but it definitely does not take anything away from the reaction to friction on the back end. If you want a high performance pearl that you can trust shot after shot, this is the one you need to put in your bag.

The Hammer Scandal Pearl is a 10/18/16 release, and you will not be disappointed. It is Hammer's strongest pearl bowling ball to date. It is a symmetrical core with a nice mid lane reaction, and a larger than normal angular motion down the lane. It has typical Hammer hitting power, a nice color combo, and as the successor to the original Scandal, should be a big seller.

I used a 45 x 4 x 40 layout (Pin up) on this ball. I also hit the ball lightly with a 4000 pad after drilling. This ball rolls very well. I am a big fan of the Scandal but sometimes it rolls a little early for lighter conditions. I was hoping that this ball would be cleaner through the fronts and it did just that! It also gives a very strong motion at the end of the pattern. Very impressed!!

Review:
If you're in the need for a really strong symmetric ball for medium to heavy oil (higher rev rate), this is it. The Carbon Fiber Infused Pearl cover is clean and provides more punch in the back end where the solid version lacks. This ball makes a strong move on the backend, especially when there's friction, and the carry is exceptional. However, I would not use this ball on tighter/longer patterns. That's what the solid is for. Check out the videos on the hammer website for a good comparison. This is yet another fantastic piece here.

For a symetrical pearl .. sheesh does this ball get down lane and contiune. Drilled this up under the bridge .. and wow is all I can say . This ball gives great length with great over all hook .. it's a great piece to have because it gives you the ability to play out and straighten up ur angles .. and it also gives you the ability to open up ur angles when moving in as the conditions start to dry up!

The Scandal Pearl is not your typical skid/snap pearl reactive bowling ball. The ball provides me with the type of reaction that works best for me with my slower ball speed and lower rev rate. It provides easy length through the front of the pattern with controllable reaction in the mid-lane and a really strong roll into and through the pocket. It works well on the fresh for most bowlers I have seen using it, but it really shines for me as I move deeper into the lane and fight the puddle on our typical 'house' pattern. It is a great option on 'sport' patterns with medium length and volume for me.

After having success with the Original Scandal, I had to have the Scandal Pearl. This ball was EXACTLY what I thought it would be.....clean through the fronts, but very angular on the backend. I went with pin up above the bridge layout with the cg kicked about 4t degrees (no hole). When my Scandal doesn't make the corner, that's when I grab my Scandal Pearl to open up the lane more and get the corner pin kicked out. Layout 55 x 4 5/8 x 45

The Scandal Pearl is the strongest Pearl ball that you will throw. Great length with serious backend motion. If you drill it pin up you will get the most down lane motion possible. The pin down layout will give you a stronger more controllable ball motion. The Scandal Pearl is a very popular ball for all styles of bowlers. You cant go wrong with this ball.

Can't say enough about this ball. Easily the strongest pearl I have thrown in quite a while. I went with a 50x4.5x75 on this one with a small P4 hole, which is a pin down layout, but this ball still turns the corner like many other high pin balls that I have drilled. I have tried knocking the polish off this ball, but for me, it's best left at box finish or it becomes a little too similar the original Scandal. The 1000/polish box finish makes it perfect for blending out wet/dry house conditions, having enough teeth to get through the puddle, but not jumping off the friction. Definitely a go-to ball when playing the track or a little further in. Another winner!

Went with a pin up 50 x 4 3/4 x 45 a slight tweak from my standard layout. This ball is everything its advertised. Clean through the fronts very good motion down lane but not sideways and very good through the pins. With all the balls out there right now that are good this one definitely ranks up there with the gotta have it in the bag. When my Cyborg is too strong off the spot I go to the Scandal pearl. The two ball combination really play well off of each other. The scandal pearl is not too skiddy in the fronts like some pearls and the midlane read and motion on the backend is really impressive. Easy to read the ball motion, the colors aren't crazy revving down lane and the ball is reliable. You can strike for a long time with this one once you get lined up.

This ball has a ton of versatility ,when the Scandal solid starts hooking too early the Pearl really gets through the front part of the lane and you get the same reaction down lane. This ball isn't afraid of some oil either, very predicable.

About the Bowler

This ball is simply amazing. I wasn't sure what to expect from this being a pearl with the original scandal being so heavy rolling. I put the same layout on the scandal solid and pearl. Pin below my bridge with the CG kicked just outside the center grip line. I was very impressed with how this ball got through the front part of the lane and maintained its energy to make a hard sharp turn off the spot. For myself personally it's best use is when there is medium volumes or broken down lanes. For me, it this ball tends to squirt a little in the front on heavy volumes or longer patterns. But it is an absolute great compliment to the scandal solid. Highly recommended this ball

There are a few balls i have thrown in my bowling career that have as much backend as this ball does. When i get in, and really hook a lane, this is the ball i grab. IF you have never seen a ball hook on the back because you have higher ball speed, this is the ball for you. I throw it 18mph and this ball always hooks. ALWAYS HOOKS! If you love your original scandal and wish in your heart of hearts, that you had something for when it wasnt quite enough, then your prayers have been answered. This ball is cleaner than the original scandal, meaning, it gets through the fronts easier than the original scandal does, and stores all its energy for down lane motion.
Did i mention the Hammer exclusive 3 year warranty? Because if you know any other company offering a 3 year warranty, i would love to hear which company that was. I know now that my hammer balls are always safe.
Did i mention how much this ball hooks on the backend? If you are on the market for an angular ball, look no further.

Ball out of the box was super clean through the front part of the lane. My ball speed is between 17.8 and 18.5. I put a layout I had in a Emerald Vibe that I liked but it wasn't right for this ball with the out of box surface. I hit the surface with 2000 by hand which helped the reaction out a lot.

This ball is great for house shots that have a slightly heavy volume of oil. The ball responds off the friction hard so not using the adult bumper helps you stay in play with this ball.

This ball can be valued in a tournament arsenal if drilled aggressive for higher ball speeds to be able to see the pattern

This ball is so different than your typical pearl. It is still very clean up front, but definitely has more mid-lane and overall "roll" than the average pearl. It's very controllable, yet still gives you good pop on the back. I like balls that are predictable, and balls that I can manipulate. This ball is very versatile, and is a must in my bag no matter where I go! I drilled mine pin up, above the bridge, and still rolls great...NOT skid/snappy at all for me!

Scandal Pearl with Carbon Fiber Infused Semtex Pearl cover provides good skid, mid-lane control and an unprecedented back end. Hammer's strongest pearl to date, is great for medium to heavy oil conditions. The strong symmetric Scandal core allows the bowler to get as deep on the lane as the condition calls for.

Here is my thoughts about the new Scandal Pearl by Hammer. It is one of Hammer’s newest high performance bowling balls which features the symmetrical Scandal core with a polished Semtex Pearl cover. The cover and core are manufactured with carbon fiber and come with the industry leading 3 year warranty. The color of this ball is green/smoke/gold swirl. It should be noted that recently, this ball was used by female professional bowler Liz Kuhlkin in setting the new female series record of 890.
I have a rev rate of around 400 with a PAP of 5 9/16 over and 1/8 up. I have tried the new Scandal Pearl on a variety of THS as well as USBC White pattern. I have thrown it box and with a 3000 Abralon surface. The layout I used on mine was 60 x 5 x 70 with a weight hole 4 inches over and 2 inches down from my grip center.
The original Scandal served a specific purpose in my opinion- heavy volume/longer patterns. In that environment, the original Scandal excelled to be sure. On the new Scandal Pearl, I believe that it will hit a much greater variety of conditions. It is much cleaner through the front given the pearl cover. That is not to say that the ball does not offer strong ball motion as it most certainly does. I believe that this ball is best suited for medium volume patterns and will best suited for a variety of pattern lengths except the extremes. I also believe that where the original Scandal would be best for a speed dominant player…the new Scandal Pearl will suit many different styles and rev rates. It should be noted that while this is definitely a weaker version of the original Scandal, it is not in the overall a weaker ball. With proper surface preparation, this ball could easily be one of the first options out of the bag in many different environments.
The Scandal Pearl is readily available. See your local pro shop for additional information on the new Scandal Pearl by Hammer.

I simply love my Scandal and the new Scandal Pearl is the strongest pearl ball that Hammer has ever made. With that in mind, I drilled the Pearl similar to my Scandal to compliment each other and it is exactly what I wanted. The pearlized cover is clean enough, but does not offer an over/under reaction due to the strong core of the Scandal. When moving in with my Scandal and started leaving weak 10s, the Scandal Pearl is helps get down the lane and offer more backend motion to kick out the 10. The Scandal Pearl still offers the a new technology that infuses Carbon Fiber into the coverstock to offer the most hooking potential in a pearlized coverstock for the Hammer brand on the heavier medium to heavy lane patterns. The great thing about this strong rolling piece is you can keep moving left and the ball does not stop moving toward the pocket. The Scandal Pearl is about 3-5 less than my Scandal & about 3-5 more boards than my RebeL I am really impressed with this ball motion from the Hammer brand.
I took a little shine off (light 3000 pad) my Scandal Pearl as it was a little too long for my liking! You can use this ball on the fresh House patterns for all 3 games and various medium / medium heavier lane patterns.

With the new 3 year warrantee that Hammer provides for this ball, this is the BEST bang for your buck!
I think this ball will be a must have ball for those that are looking for something offers a great motion that does not stop rolling in the backend – it really continues through the pin deck! Very versatile ball… You will be impressed!
