Brunswick Fanatic BTU is the new urethane for that tough pattern. Love the look you get with the BTU very easy to control for that burn. You will get the roll you want on that dry pattern with drive through the pins. Also great ball for slow ball speeds and for spares.

About the Bowler

-Bowler Stats
- Name: Joshua Lapham
- PAP: 4 11/16 x ½ up
- Rev Rate: 350+
- Ball Speed 15-16 mph

This ball is the best Symetrical ball I have thrown to date. It was drilled pin above bridge and cg in Palm. This ball allows me to play straight up five board when heads are toast and never burn up early or lose drive through the pins. I was able to move left and ball still recovers very nice and predictable. Ball was consistent exiting the pattern, and drives through the pins no matter where I played on the lanes. If you don't have one of these in your bag you are probably getting beat by some one that does.
BTU Ives up to its name and the hype that is for sure.

When searching for a new ball, Lane Side Reviews on YouTube is my go to video source for the best information.

With that said, the Fanatic BTU has been on my radar since Bowl Expo 2016 here in Vegas, and finally got it Aug 25th.

I am low speed & low rev, so I had this drilled pin up over the ring finger at 65X4.5X35, and the primary purpose for this ball is for when the lanes get burned up and my Ultimate Nirvana is too strong. When I tried it, I purposely went on the burn to see what this can do in person, and it DID NOT disappoint!

Traditional urethane starts making its move around 25ft, which is generally too soon for most conditions. When you add in the fact that urethane pushes the oil down the lanes with it, it can make the back ends very unpredictable for everybody.

But the BTU's coverstock was made to absorb oil for a much cleaner and smoother transition with very slow response that makes it very predictable off the spot.

It also retains much more energy than traditional urethane. Where urethane can leave you with 7's, 10's and even 5-7's, the BTU makes the pins fly around and gets rid of those single pins and splits!

And for those of you who have 2 handed bowlers in your leagues that create that "Belmo Effect", this will counteract this and there's a good chance the 2 handers are going to have to make many more adjustments than you will!

When the lanes are burned and you need to change balls, the BTU is the way to go, and if you don't have this ball in your bag you are truly missing out!

The BTU is to me, the most interesting ball on the market and in my bag to start the season. After two years of research, test, development behind that ball, Brunswick has come with a ball Better Than Urethane for dryer lanes or short patterns. That ball feature the Dual Flip I-block core that was in the C(system) Versa Max wraped with a brand new low friction response coverstock. I was very curious about the ball. I have an old black Phantom and Brunswick did a comparison video with both so. I drilled the BTU to bowl on short sports patterns. I heard that ball was stronger than advertise so I drilled it 85x4.5x65. At first, I really appreciate the predictability of the reaction and the continuation through the pins that we rarely see in weaker/urethane ball. On second week night, we bowl on the 2016 WTBA 37’ Melbourne, it’s the longer of the short pattern. I put the surface at 1000 with Siaair pads and what happens was just magic! I never had that kind of reaction on a short pattern. The BTU rolls hard and shreds the rack. It gives you that little pop in the backend that classic Urethane ball doesn’t give you. Plus you don’t have to swipe it really hard after every single shot. Seriously, anyone need a BTU in their arsenal and yes it’s Better Than Urethane.

Brunswick Fanatic BTU – Drilled 35 x 3.5 x 35 – Weight Hole in P3
When I first heard of the BTU, I was skeptical that Brunswick was able to make a low load reactive ball that emulated urethane. Not only did Brunswick accomplish this, they have really set the bar with the BTU. This ball is the ultimate get out of jail free card for me. Whether it is shot patterns or just something flat out ugly, the BTU does not over read the front part of the lane and delivers a little “kick” on the back that is indicative of reactive. The name Better Than Urethane was because it carries a traditional urethane initial reaction but hits and drives through the pocket. Usually when I throw urethane, the ball hits flat going into the pocket. The BTU has energy left in the tank and thus why it is called the BTU.

About the Bowler

The Brunswick Fanatic BTU is for you, me and everybody. This is the perfect ball for your wet dry house pattern! It will blend the pattern perfectly giving you the exact reaction your looking for resulting in high scores. Great for all rev rates and ball speeds! Looking for a ball on a short sport pattern this is it! Put down the urethane and go with a ball that gives you a similar roll to urethane with the hitting power of modern technology. My personal BTU has a 85x4x40 layout on it which gives me plenty of length and a smooth controllable back end reaction for all angles.

COMMENTS

Better Than Urethane! I drilled this ball strong looking for length knowing that normal urethane ball read the midlane and then die on the back end. I was beyond surprised when I threw this ball. It got threw the heads and did not read the midlane but I could play the exact same line as my old urethane but with a much better angle and much more hitting power. I am able to move with the shot and still get recovery when I need it This ball is a must have!

About the Bowler

Ball Specs: 3 inch pin, 2.0 oz top. Bowler Specs: Lefty Two-Hander, Speed- 17mph, Rev Rate- 500. Layout: Full Roller length and backend. Pattern: High Volume House, Low Volume House, 39 Ft Sport Pattern. Review: Wow, when this ball was released, I knew it would be special for me being a high rev and medium speed bowler, but I never imagined it would be this good. The BTU is so smooth through the fronts and so subtle but so continuous at box finish. I had no problem lining up on all three patterns fairly direct, on the low volume house playing 12-8, on the high volume house up 8 and on the sport pattern playing 12-8 also. I found the BTU to be about 3-2 left of my Rhino and about a foot sooner at the breakpoint with an overall 3-4 less boards of recovery. This ball will be great for bowlers looking to square up and keep their target in front of them, and also when breakdown is encountered and you don't need anything extreme off the breakpoint. The cover was very receptive to changes and polish and don't be surprised to see 6+ inches of flare with some layouts! #TeamBrunswick! -Justin Knowles, Brunswick Regional Staffer

The Fanatic BTU is a great ball on the BURN, when the lanes begin to dry out on shorter low volume house shots and for those later squads during tournament. One of the best low differential Symmetric cores i've seen on the lanes. Drilled a 15 pounder with specs of 50x5x50 and can play straight up the boards with a great flip on the backend destroying the pins. You need to get your hand into this drilling a bit, I feel, because if I miss it at the bottom, I usually leave that weak 10. I like to ball down to this on league night as it compensates the Blue Fanatic very well. If your looking for a Urethane for your bag....this ball would be your best choice.

I am a high speed/high rev rate bowler (18mph at pins, 450+ revs). This ball has been a godsend for me this season. My primary league changed the oil pattern from a heavy 43 foot house shot to a 43 foot light oil skinny house shot (oiled out to 14 board instead of the 10 board). The amount of dry on the outside has made throwing reactive near impossible, but this ball remains extremely controllable even when sliding on the 35 board. The ball checks up and hits the pins with a lot of energy left over.

In my other leagues with normal house shots this ball lets me play up the track easily without having to move more than 4-5 boards on average each night.

It is not difficult to kill the hook on the ball to use it as a spare ball either, making it very easy to find a spot in anyone's bag. After owning over 17 bowling balls and seeing many hook similarly I can definitely say this ball is not like anything else I have ever seen. Coolest ball I've seen in a decade.

Dual Angle Layout: 45 x 4" x 65 with a P3 hole and box surface of 500, 1500 siaair. The Fanatic BTU has a lower differential I-Block core with a Urethane coverstock that actually absorbs a little oil and has a urethane like smooth reaction. The Fanatic BTU will not create the traditional carry down effect of most urethane coverstock bowling balls making you move right after every shot. This ball allows me to play straighter angles and farther right even with my higher rev rate. As I keep moving left on the lane, it doesn't lose reaction downlane and will keep driving through the pocket. It is great for shorter oil patterns or on a house shot to stay right of everyone and not create the carry down at the breakpoint. I really like how it doesn't read the lane early even with a first angle of 45 degrees. Also, it is great to go to when a reactive resin ball is hooking early. This ball was named correctly as BTU because it is Better Than Urethane!

I bowled from 2003-2010 in several leagues, with an average peaking at 196. I had an average in the mid 180's during the summer, 2016 after getting back into bowling.

I bought the BTU as it was supposed to be something similar to the ball I was familiar with (The Brunswick Smokin Inferno).

I've had it for two weeks so far and I've never had anything like it - and that's a good thing. I shot 664 two weeks ago, and last night, I had my third 700 series, which included a 279. The ball seems to hit hard, even if you don't hit your spot perfectly.

In a rather funny note, I also bought the regular Fanatic ball because more people recommended that one than the BTU, however my research pointed toward the BTU more. I am still testing out the regular Fanatic, but this one is amazing thus far.

I throw about 13 MPH or so on average. Down and in. I aim for the second arrow on the right.

When I drilled the Fanatic BTU I know it would get me well right of where I ususally lineup.
Wel it did get me more right than I thought I would be. I was 12 boards right from my original starting point. Moving that far right I didn't know what to expect of the reaction. I was surprised when I first threw it with how much more it responds than a normal Urethane ball.
It has a more even motion down lane that any other ball I have. In terms of comparison to how many boards of movement it has , I would have to compare it to my Diva XOXO and my Freakshow but with less movement. I expected more washouts with the BTU but I found after moving that far right than normal I did not experience washouts. This ball will have a spot for me for short patterns for sure and when the backends were stripped the night before .
I highly recommend the BTU for anyone who like me struggles with short patterns. This ball is definately BETTER THAN URETHANE !

The Fanatic BTU truly is unique in the bowling world today. There is NO other ball out there that will do what this does. On short oil or a burnt pattern, you can stay right, and the ball will clear the heads. It gets enough down lane to save energy and provide carry that is as good as a resin ball. I've got mine drilled (3.5 in. pin) pin straight over the bridge with CG stacked directly below right under the bridge. The pin carry will blow any urethane out of the water. The light strikes created by most resin balls are still in play with the BTU. I would recommend this ball to anybody who is struggling on short oil or a bad transition. Again, there is NOTHING out there like it.

I purchased the Brunswick Fanatic BTU to combat the over/under typical of most house shots. All I can say is WOW! This ball far exceeded my expectations. The BTU brings the positive attributes of a Urethane ball without the negatives. The first time out, I shot 753 and only moved 2 boards total for the night. The BTU gives me a very consistent reaction and doesn't overreact in the dry. This ball is a must have for higher rev players. #BetterThanUrethane

I drilled mine 75 x 4 1/4 x 70 keeping the pin below the fingers to align with the smooth reacting ball motion. Make no mistake about this ball it matches up on light oil, dry lanes, and wet dry conditions like no other ball. This ball took quite some time to develop, and it was awesome smooth ball motion, this ball will give you the versatility possible to handle when lanes transition or become dry. With this ball you will see a urethane type ball motion, but only stronger. Found this ball matches up on house patterns fairly easily and allows me to keep the line to the pocket. Very impressive ball that gives me great predictability off of the friction part of the lane.

Very smooth rolling, had to change the surface from OOB to 4000 for me as I needed this on shorter sport patterns 35-37ft. Ball rolls really smooth, bowled with 3 guys using pitch blacks and was able to play the same part of the lane, but when they would miss a little it was weak 10 for them and my BTU would keep on driving, the hit and carry on this ball was fantastic. Lots of light mixers that never carry with traditional urethane. Also had a buddy of mine throw it on a house shot once they got beat up the third game, extremely predictable motion on dry and carry was through the roof. EXCELLENT BALL

The Fanatic BTU is the ball I have been waiting for. The drier part of the lane continues to hook more on house shots and the lane patterns continue to break down faster. I have wound up having to hook the ball too much and cover too many boards. This is the ball to remedy those situations. It allows me to play right in the track area on our house shot where I can have extra miss room left an right. In comparison to urethane, the ball has much better pin carry and does not ever load up with oil. It does not back down over time. The BTU is extremely consistent and will allow you to open the lane some as the pattern breaks down. I can also stay in the same spot with it for a much longer amount of time than I can with my other reactive balls. If your looking for a milder reacting ball with a urethane like reaction shape on today's condition, this is it!
