What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

Ask anyone who knows me and they know I'm a HUGE fan of the Swerve line. Both the Swerve and Swerve FX have both been in my bag at every bowling session since their release. There is quite a gap between the two though. The Swerve is early and the FX goes very long and is extremely angular. I was hoping for something to bridge the gap.

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

It's difficult to explain how well the Swerve GT completes the trilogy. In terms of length, the GT is in between the Swerve and FX. In terms of angularity, it's the smoothest when compared to the other two. So in a way, each of the Swerve releases take different parts of the other releases to make 3 balls that complement each other perfectly.

I would actually say that the Swerve GT is the strongest of the bunch when overall hook is concerned. When compared to my Swerve, I was 2-3 boards left with the GT. I also absolutely love the way this core carries. For me, it revs up in the perfect place and allows the ball to go through the pins at the perfect angle, depending on which ball I'm using.

I know this review is about the Swerve GT, but it's just as much about how well each ball goes together. The Swerve line is amazing and if you're going to give it a try, start with the GT. It's the perfect blend of both of the previous releases.

I have used this ball on several different oil patterns but I find it the best on medium to longer patterns. I also have noticed that lower rev players like this ball a lot! It is a cool looking ball with a continuous back end. Must have in your bag!

WOW .... did I say WOW .... drilled out for league last night. This is a wonderful ball - I now have the option to start working on sport shots (My Raw Urges were just to exact for the sport shots) and the ability late in a round to move DEEP because this ball WILL turn left. Frankly, now with my 2 Raw Urges (pin in and pin out), my new Side Swipe & the GT, I am ready and able to bowl on any condition. Columbia has done a great job.

This ball has a strong midland roll and continuation as others have said. The best part you don't have to be a high rev big hook bowler. Straight is still great ! When there is medium to heavy oil, it provides the overall hook/roll needed !

Looking for a little more pop then the Swerve? Then the Swerve GT will fit the bill. The Hybrid cover with the Hypershock technology makes this a great ball for medium to heavy oil depending on ball speed and rev's. I can use this ball on the THS if I start inside the track area. On most medium sport patterns I can start around the track area and move in from there. Longer sport patterns I have to play pretty straight down the boards. The Hybrid cover gives it a bit too much length to get away with swinging it until the heads start to go.

Overall this is a great addition to the Columbia line up. For me this is one of my most angular balls.

What can I say about this ball? It is an absolute MONSTER! I have never seen a ball that hooks quite as much as this one. It seems to hook on almost anything and I can't believe how it continues through the pins. With the ball hooking through any amount oil and still retaining enough energy to hit the pins with such force is unbelievable! I am very happy with it especially on the longer patterns that have heavier volume because it allows me to dry up the lane faster and open my angles sooner for higher scores.

This ball also contains the new hypershock technology which again increases the energy transfer to the pins and increases carry percentage! The Swerve GT is also containing the Reflex Hybrid cover which allows it to save just enough energy to go through the pins while also hooking through just about anything. The motion of the ball is a very strong arc and reads the mid lane very well

This ball is the first ball out of my bag on any shot that has a higher volume of oil and a longer distance. Being able to open up your angles faster and creating a dry spot to throw to, will allow you to score higher, faster!

Lefty here. I had Pin up above ring finger and CG slightly kicked out. I wanted a controlled backend but did not want to take away much of the hook.
This is the stronger of the Swerve line, reading earlier than the FX, but more bite than the original. I use this on heavier patterns on the fresh. This ball rolls great through the pins, and is another gear when the lanes call for it.
Because of the cover, this is the biggest ball in my bag at the moment.

The Swerve GT is by far the best ball in the Swerve line. I layed mine out 60x5x35 as I do on most of my big core balls. This bal fits right in between the other two swerves. The original Swerve was too early and quit on the back end where as the Swerve Fx never quiete picked up in the right spot due to the shiny pearl cover. The GT picks up in the right part of the lane but doesn't quit when it makes its move. I didn't have high hopes for this one but it has become a great ball for the longer and heavier oiled medium patters.

Swerve GT just sounds awesome, but it goes a lot farther than that. The Swerve GT is a hybrid with a 500-2000 abralon finish makes for a strong cover. I like this ball on the heavier oil patterns as it allows me to get straighter and not have much worry about recovery. Make sure your swerving your way into the winners circle the swerve Gt.

So if you liked the Swerve Fx, but need something a little stronger, this is a home run. With the hybrid coverstock, it will save a little more energy than the original swerve and actually give you a back end motion for a ball with this surface. Don't believe me, watch the videos or drill one your self. Hits super hard and rolls fantastic. This ball I have used on all types of pattern and is very versatile.

The original Swerve was one of the few Columbia releases I did not like. It rolled too early and wouldn't hit for me on any condition. When I got the FX, it is turned out to be one of the best balls I've ever had. This GT ranks way up there also. It gives me about five boards more overall hook and I can stay in the oil with it. For somebody without much ball speed this starts up mid lane and continues through the pins amazingly. Definitely will be in my bag for a long time.

Ball just doesn't do what it says it does. This ball barely moves for me I have to play a straight line or a throw a slight belly on it. If I try to to swing it the ball doesn't come back. My wreck-em out hooks this ball by 15 boards.
