If only I could rate higher than a 5! This ball is amazing. This ball just plan hits hard. MOTIV has done a phenomenal job (as always) with this one. This has similar hook to the original Octane, one of my all time favorites, but with more control in oil and a second gear from the break point to the pins. If you have not tried Motiv you will want to start here. If you are a MOTIV enthusiast then you will want more than one of these for sure. #FREAKOUT #MOTIVatedbowlaholic

Review:
This may be the easiest review I have done. I compared the Paranoia to my Primal Rage. A lot of bowlers are familiar with my love for the Primal Rage. MOTIV has created the love-child for it. The Paranoia is clean through the front part of the lanes with a controllable, predictable, continuing motion downlane. After a couple small surface changes by hand, the motion is identical on the backend and does not sacrifice hitting power.

Likes:
Heavy roll in front part of lanes
Controlled and angular motion downlane

Dislikes:
None

Summary:
The Paranoia will turn heads easily. This is more than a home run for MOTIV, it’s a series sweep and shutout each game. Create more Paranoia by drilling more than one. This ball will not disappoint.

REACTION
The Paranoia filled a much needed gap in the current Motiv line once the original Octane was retired. This ball is best suited for medium oil. It is clean through the heads with strong down lane motion. The Paranoia responds quickly to friction without expending all of it's energy which allows it to be explosive when going through the pins.

COMPARISONS
The Paranoia, as with all equipment in the Motiv line, was designed to fit in between existing pieces. Compared to the Primal Rage, the Paranoia is about 3 boards weaker in overall hook potential. When the pattern starts to break down and my Primal Rage is burning up, I have been able to pull out my Paranoia and continue striking while retaining relatively the same shape. When the pattern starts to go away from the Paranoia, I can pull out the Octane Burn, rinse and repeat. The Paranoia isn't nearly as temperamental as the original Octane. While I loved my original Octane, I found it to be a bit too clean. The Paranoia remedies all of that by being able to blend out the pattern. I haven't noticed much over/under with the Paranoia.

SUMMARY
I decided to get two Paranoia's with my initial order. I drilled one pin down (75°x 4.5" x75°) and the other pin up(65°x 4.125" x50°). I bowl in three different houses with three very different surfaces. They consist of synthetic lanes, old beat up wood lanes, and newer well maintained wood lanes. The house shots vary in length and volume from center to center. I have been able to start with my pin down Paranoia in all three houses playing up the track area. As the pattern starts to migrate forcing me inside, going to my pin up Paranoia has kept the strikes coming. They are a nice one two punch for getting down the lane and being able to open the lane up. One thing I did notice with my pin up Paranoia was that it was a bit TOO fast with box finish. I took it down to 2000 then polished it. That small change was all I needed to get it to go through the pins the way I prefer. The Paranoia took everything that was great about the original Octane and improved on it. It's definitely worthy of sitting on medium oil angular throne on the ball chart. I see the Paranoia being around for years to come.

You know, leading up to writing this review, I’ve felt a bit on edge and nervous. It just feels like something may happen to me if I don’t present a good review… I guess you can call me a bit…. Paranoid… (Sorry I just couldn’t help myself). Enough with the chit-chat, the new piece from MOTIV will definitely cause your opponents to feel uneasy and less confident once you place this ball on the rack. The name says it all, the Paranoia. We aren’t just introduced to a new cover stock, but a whole new core to go along with it in the Oblivion core. Wrapped around the Oblivion, we find the new Agitator Pearl Reactive cover, which provides an angular ball motion that is to be expected with a pearl cover but MOTIV never settles for providing what is to be ‘expected’. The beauty of this cover stock, it has the ability to blend wet/dry lane conditions while still offering the MOTIV continuation with angle down lane. The Paranoia lends itself to be an excellent complement to many of the MOTIV pieces that may already be in your bag. Whether you are looking for more hook than you’re Venom Shock but with more down lane angle or you many need more length than that Redline without surrendering hook potential, the Paranoia can provide the answer to both situations.
What I love about the Paranoia is that down lane motion. Although it is more angular, its transition through the mid-lane is very clean. In the time I have been throwing this piece, I have rarely felt that it would not finish and finish hard when reaching the pocket unless it was an error on my part. Just yesterday evening in league, I was throwing a Revolt Vengeance the first 2 games of the set. The final frames of the 2nd game, the Vengeance was just simply starting to turn over just a bit too soon and the slightest move right (remember... Lefty here!), the ball just would not face up the way I felt comfortable to maximize my score. So the 3rd game, I switch to my Paranoia. Now, my Paranoia has the same drilling as my Vengeance with the Pin squarely below my bridge and the CG slightly kicked out to the left. I then moved everything just 1 board to the left (Feet at 19 ½ Lay down at 10 and break-point at 7). Front 10 and a ringing 7 pin later and I finish with a 289. The Paranoia was able to clear the front part of the lane with little effort and with most of its energy being retained, the ball read the friction down lane and drove them the pins like a bulldozer.

Be prepared to #FreakOut with the Motiv Paranoia. This brightly marked ball looks good on the lanes both reaction wise and color wise; it really pops on the lane. This ball combines two brand new technologies in the Agitator Pearl Reactive coverstock (finished at 5500 Grit LSP) wrapping around the Oblivion core (2.53RG, .047Diff). Built as a controllable upgrade from the original Octane, this ball fits very nicely into the Medium Oil-Angular motion chart slot. On the fresh this ball is super clean, saving its energy for a very strong, yet predictable, backend motion. I do have to be square and go up the lane with it as friction is its friend, but the read this ball gives and the continuation through the pin deck is superb on this sort of line. As the lanes burned up I am able to jump left…and left…and left with this ball showing no quite. The glide through the heads stores up enough energy for a quick transition at the breakpoint allowing the Paranoia to be used with larger angles later in the day. My second game out of the box with this ball was 290. I have also sanded this down to 2000 grit so that I could be more aggressive earlier and I have not found disappointment. This added texture allows the ball to hook a couple of feet sooner but not so much so as to burn up any breakpoint energy. I get a better midlane read without sacrificing a quicker transition or driving power. A sanded Paranoia and an out of box one can be a dangerous one-two punch in medium conditions that easily burn. Over all if you need a medium oil, quick responding ball that gives you control and power through the pins, look now further than the Paranoia!

This ball just flat out hooks on the backend. It is so clean through the front part of the lane and saves so much energy for the back. At the OOB surface, the Paranoia was too clean for me. I used a 2000 abralon pad lightly over the surface and the ball came alive. It is certainly one of my most hooking balls in my bag. This ball will be fantastic for any arsenal especially if you liked the primal rage. This ball fits perfectly between the primal rage and the octane burn.

About the Bowler

This ball is the newest introduction into the MOTIV line of bowling balls. The MOTIV Paranoia features the Agitator Pearl Reactive coverstock combined with the Oblivion core. It's very clean through the front of the lane, It reads the med lane for change of direction and makes a fierce move on the backend. Most importantly, it features the continuation that MOTIV balls are becoming known for..

It will be a great fit in your bag on medium to light oil. The Paranoia will become that ball you can count on when you need to go away from the pocket and have no fear that it will recovery giving you the angularity and continuation you need to go through the pins.

My Paranoia is laid out is pin up (above the bridge), the cg shifted right and has an extra hole in my axis. This ball has already found a place in my bag and drives through the pins with easy from an insane angle. If you are looking for a ball with crazy backend reaction, continuation and awesome hitting power. Look no further, you've found it.
