With this review we did something a little different. We had a pin up layout OOB and a pin down layout that we dulled down to give you a good look at the ball with different surfaces and layouts.

The Chosen One offers Pyramids first Hybrid coverstock in their Pro Performance category. The all new XF Gravitational Hybrid covers is wrapped around the proven SG 19.5 Astmmetric core from the Chosen series. This combination will give you a strong yet controllable ball motion on a wide variety of patterns.

The Chosen One should fit right in between Pyramid's matte finish Pro Performance balls like the Divergent Path and Chosen Path and the pearl version of these balls like the Divergent Path Pearl and Chosen Path Pearl.

Ball #1:

The Chosen One OOB was amazing. Right from the get go the ball motion was perfect. It was plenty strong but it gave me a different look at the pocket.
With the hybrid cover the Chosen One read the pattern earlier then the pearls but not quite as early as the solids we have seen before.

Dont mistake this ball for a weaker version by any means, the Chosen One brings plenty of hook to the lane with the super aggressive SG 19.5 Asymmetric core. This ball read the heads pretty clean, still giving me really strong roll but not over reacting too early. In the mids this ball went to work. The Chosen One read the pattern great and still had plenty of energy for the backends.

I am surprised at some of the angles I was able to create with this ball. Typically a hybrid doesnt change direction too much down lane but the Chosen One still allowed me to open up the pattern and get some serious motion off the spot down lane.

Ball #2:

I am not a big "dull" surface guy so i thought this part of the test would be challenging for me.

I will say I was very surprised at how well the Chosen One reacted to the surface change. It didnt hook early and roll out. It amplified the ball motion overall. I saw similar motions just a bit earlier and with a little less down lane. I would say for bowlers who don't get a lot on the ball or higher ball speeds the Chosen One with a little surface is a really good option.

My biggest observation of both Ball #1 and #2 is how well these balls went through the pins. I know we say it with most of our Pyramid reviews but
these balls keep the pins so low it almost seems like I'm cheating. When you can get a ball to clear the pin deck with no deflection and the pins are flying all over you have a huge advantage.

Give the Pyramid line-up a try this season.

Got a lot more reaction that I was expecting. The ball carries very well through the back of the lanes.

Biggest difference that I noticed is my carry. Don't know what is different about Pyramid but for me and the 5 other guys in my league that has purchased Pyramid stuff, it carries really well and doesn't die.

First off, sorry to be that guy that doesn't give out may 5's - for anything.

I would give this a 4.7, which for me is pretty good.

The Chosen One rolls smooth, hits like a ton of bricks, has created so much room on the lane for me (yeah I know the conditions are easy) but my average has gone up 11 pins and this ball is different, at least for me.

I am most impressed that this ball has kept it reacting power by only keeping it clean. I do clean all of my bowling balls every three games. However, this ball has kept the reaction from the original the best by far.

I do recommend this to my friends.

I'm' writing this review from work, so I'll be short.

Shot my high game and high series last night. Very happy with ball and people around me are very impressed with the amount of mistake room this ball has created for me. So much so, that my hubby ordered one and then his teammate after he saw my husband bowl with it.

Save money, be smart and still get top quality equipment with paying the man in between.

Figured I would get a new ball awhile back but wanted to save money. was hopin that all other brands cost so much more just because they have all the middle people to pay and all that marketing.

I WAS RIGHT.

Ball is awesome had it for 3 months now it just doesnt stop. still hooks like the day i had it drilled. rolls better than anything else in my bag. my storm ball was close but it has died already and the chosen one keeps on truckin.

high series ever with this ball 799, damn 8 pin on my fill ball, oh well.

love it

Just to give a bit of feed back on Pyramid, I'm finding now quite a few enquiries.
I personally find the chosen one, one of the best balls I have ever had on my hand but the antidote is another ball I use and that ball is just brilliant. because of these two balls my average has gone up 12.

I purchased a Pyramid Chosen One ball last year, just now had it drilled. 4th nite out bowled my second 300 game of my life. I am 67 yrs old and I really like this ball. Thanks to you I could afford to try a different ball. If I ever need another ball and I say another cause I am old I will purchase one from you.

What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:

The Chosen One uses the core from two of the best all-around balls I've ever thrown, the Chosen Path and Dark Path. They've wrapped it with a brand new hybrid coverstock which I was excited to see paired with one of my favorite cores. Excited is an understatement!

What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:

Ball 1: Simply one of the best first impressions I've ever gotten from a bowling ball. This ball just seemed to read the lanes in all the right spots. It was controllable, strong and versatile. I felt like I could play anywhere on the lane and get this ball to strike. With the box finish, you're going to see good length with a strong, easy to read backend reaction. Move inside and watch this ball come back from anywhere.

Ball 2: This ball really surprised me. I am blown away with the way the surface change affected the reaction. With the lower grit, sanded finish, this ball became an absolute hook monster that I believe you can throw on the heaviest of oil. It is so smooth but it still has a very strong reaction on the backend. I'd describe it as a Chosen Path on steroids.

I honestly believe that ANYONE can throw the Chosen One and have amazing success with it. Drill it with your favorite layout and you can adjust the surface to fine tune the reaction to your game. Pyramid has really outdone themselves with this release. Even without their amazing pricing structure factored in, the Chosen One is up there with any ball on the market when it comes to performance. Factor in price and I believe this is the best ball in bowling. #chooseyourpath

Pyramid Chosen One is here the one you and I have been Chosen to roll. OK that sounds a little dorky but the ball motion is awesome. My Chosen One is drilled 50x4x35 pin is above my fingers my pap is 4 1/2 1/2 up. The ball is smooth through the front with a strong move in the backend. I have the surface at box with polish this gives me length and a lot of backend. There a lot of ways to drill and the surface is easy to change to fit your roll and the lane condition you bowl on. If you have any questions on drilling or a layout and surface adjustments you can e-mail or call our Pro Shop.

It's really incredible that Pyramid continues to get better. I have every ball from Pyramid and I am confident with every one. Recently however I have been going with an arsenal of Path Rising oob, a Dull Pathogen, a Blue Print Pearl and a Chosen Path Pearl. I score well with all of these balls. While I enjoy a good bowling ball from any company the versatility of these bowling balls make them hard to put down.

Finally I got my chosen 1, the only ball from Pyramids arsenal that I didn't have. I had a great birthday in terms of bowling as I got a Chosen 1, and a Columbia 300 Raw Urge with gift certificates. I was also surprised with a Roto Grip Menace from my wife. I love all three bowling balls, but again the Chosen 1 is the ball that shines. As a lefty I don't usually have to play super deep and try extreme angles. I was able to with this ball and there was no line I was not able to strike with. I drilled the ball at 70 x 4 x 30, and this ball simply destroys the pins. I have it surfaced at 2500 (neAt- big fan of the neat pads and they work fantastic on Pyramid bowling balls) and this ball can handle any amount of oil.

I love the original Dark Path. The GPS navigation coverstock whether it be solid, pearl, or hybrid is fantastic. Really when you consider it was a debut coverstock, Pyramid accomplished something truly special with it. But the Chosen Solids and the Chosen Pearl were considerably stronger than the Dark Path.

I find the Chosen 1 to be the second strongest ball in Pyramid's arsenal just behind the Divergent Solid. I definitely find it covers more ground then the Divergent Pearl. This ball has the Hooks, the Looks and the Power.

When the Blood Moon came out I said it was the best first impression I ever had with a bowling ball. I believe I said the Divergent Solid was the strongest ball I've ever rolled. The Chosen 1 especially when comparing it to the other two asymmetrical balls that I got and loved, is the most versatile ball I've ever rolled and I can't put it down.

If you've been on the fence about trying Pyramid, get off, unless you are adverse to incredibly high scores and absurdly affordable prices. I will be getting a second and third of many Pyramid pieces, trying them with different layouts and surfaces. Pyramid balls more than any other company can become something completely different with a little more surface here, a little less there, some polish at times, and of course different layouts.

One last thing you can't take for granted is how thick the pyramid coverstocks are. These balls sound like thunder in the pocket and carry incredibly, you can use them and impressive amount of times before any baking is necessary, and they are indestructible.

The Chosen 1 is their most versatile release yet. Get it, or get defeated buy somebody else who did.

This ball is great performance for the price. Definitely a good choice for a higher performance level without breaking the bank. I have been using it for maybe 7 months and have found it to be very versatile. It takes very well to surface adjustments. I've experimented quite a bit and for a house shot I've found I like it best at 1000 and polish, which gives me good length with a sharp move at the breakpoint, even with my lower rev rate. Going 2000 or 3000 with no polish smooths out the shape a bit for more control while still retaining energy through the pins

I have bought a handful of Pyramid balls over the years but this one was my favorite. It’s an overall strong ball that for me had a nice benchmark shape. I could get pretty deep with it but also have played it straight up the boards when needed. I would recommend this ball and it is the first ball out of my bag most nights. #ChooseYourPath

First of all, let me tell you I am a two handed bowler. I bought this ball because I joined a league for the first time and the price of this ball was too good to pass up. This ball has made me a bowling fan. It has so much late movement it's crazy. Love it. When I joined the league my average was a terrible 148. With this ball, I am now a 173 avg. and bowled my highest scores ever at 234 and 222. You can't beat the price! Enough said!

Great all around ball. Motion is very predictable. Can use it on fresh as well as when the lanes transition. Used it last week in practice game 6 with 4 guys bowling on it went 300. Must have ball.

I was really excited about this ball. I was looking for a ball to replace my Hammer Deadly Aim because the life is dimming in the Hammer. This ball also had similar specs. I like that this ball was said to keep the pins low and prevent corner pins, like my Hammer.

Out of the box drilled as recommended I only shot a 569 series and left a ton of corner pins. Others experienced such great games out of the box and this worried me. My pro shop guy told me that the ball needed a few weeks under it's belt before I jumped to conclusions. He was right. I went and practiced with it and bowled 224, 241 and 231. The league that week I shot 682 series with only 3 ten pins. I'm loving this ball for the quality and cost you cannot beat the value. I can throw it very similar to the way I throw The Deadly Aim but for 70$ less. On an added note this ball is my perfect 10 pin picker upper so bonus for me.

Cannot wait to purchase the Force and give it a run.

About the Bowler

The Chosen One. WOW WOW WOW! Probably the most versatile asymmetrical ball I've ever thrown. I went with the Triangle drilling on this ball, where I get six different layouts on one ball. The pin up and pin down layouts are the most aggressive of the six, where they read up earlier and the continuation on the backend is awesome. The 8-9 and 10-11 layouts are the smoothest of the six, smooth through the mid lane and continuous off the backend. The 1-2 layout allows me to control the wet/dry on a house/sport pattern well, and the 3-4 layout is the weakest layout of the six, but allows me to play straighter on the lane which works well when I bowl on a short pattern. Are you the Chosen One? Find out by getting one today.
