This is my first bowing ball and I have enjoyed it from the beginning. This ball is very versatile and works well for a new bowlers looking to develop a hook. However, you can still fall back on your straight shot for spares or when you just can't seem to get your hook shot to work. I believe that this is a transitional ball in that you will use it to learn with then allocate it for specific lane conditions or a spare ball. This ball will hook fairly well, but will not make those dramatic moves as seen on TV.

Awesome is all I can say. I just finished my first bowling league last week and I was using a standard house ball with and average of about 140. I had a higher game here and there but that was about where I was at. I wanted to learn to have a slight hook but get the fundamentals down. I decided on the Columbia 300 Scout Reactive Green/Silver bowling ball Tuesday. Bowled with it for the first time today and bowled a 168, 172, 191 and 230. You want to learn how to get in the pocket and see a slight hook. This is the ball for you. I mean I never thought I would bowl over a 200 and one day with this ball I did. Six Strikes in a row!

This is a good starter ball, I highly recommend it to starter bowlers. It is good on light to medium oil. So don't get angry if it doesn't hook.
