The Rising sets a new standard for ball motion using only core technology. Its core - the all New Mega Tron - is the largest volume single density High Mass Bias core shape in the industry. This gives The Rising the widest range of ball motion in the industry using core shape alone. With our core pouring process, we're able to achieve a more consistent core. This, in turn, allows us to exploit the performance options of Mega Tron, and, ultimately, The Rising.
Because of the proprietary nature of this core technology we have decided to keep its shape a secret for now. We will say though, using traditional layouts result in The Rising exhibiting performance that is early and smooth. With our new "Core Tech" layouts, utilizing 360 degree core technology, The Rising will be the most aggressive backend piece of equipment you'll ever have in your bag. The Rising. TAKING YOUR GAME TO THE NEXT LEVEL.
The Perfect Scale™: Helping Bowlers Make Better Decisions. Because each manufacturer uses a different method for indicating a ball's hook potential, bowlingball.com developed a way for the consumer to compare bowling balls across all manufacturers.

Here it is after a long wait the Track Rising featuring the Mega Tron Core!
Pin to PAP(5 1/8" over 1/8" up) - 5 1/8"
Mass Bias Position - 3" right of center line
CG Placement - 2 1/2" right of grip center
Balance Hole - none
Surface Preparation - Out of Box Finish (4000-grit Abralon)
A few weeks ago I had the bright idea to make some changes to my grip and so I started cleaning out all of my older balls in my arsenal. By the time I was done I realized I did not keep anything that had my old specs and I only had a few balls with the new grip. After a couple of weeks using the new grip I decided to go back to my old grip and that meant I had nothing. So from here on out I rebuilding my ball arsenal and will most likely be adding a few balls that I already had and got rid of.
Now without further delay here is my ball review of one of my only two balls.
What I Was Looking For In This Ball Layout:
Well I have been extremely impressed with the "New" Track since Ebonite purchased them. The anticipation of The Rising had me a little worried because sometimes you build up the ball reaction in your mind and it does not meet your expectations.
I wanted to see what this ball had to offer. We used Tracks recommended layout on this ball and we left the cover alone. We hope to do some adjustments later on but for the sake of getting a good review we left everything alone and used as Track intended.
What I Ended Up With in the Ball and Layout:
Strong, strong, strong ball motion. I thought my Kinetic offered the perfect ball motion, not taking anything away from that great Track ball but this ball is nuts. I don't know how they got this ball to be so solid and clean int he front and middle part of the lane with this core and coverstock combination
but they did.
The Rising was a huge surprise for me in the first 40 feet of the lane. I was expected a lot of overall hook from start to finish but this ball follows Track's signature of long and strong. I swear I think a polished one of these balls could get you well into a 8 game sweeper it is so clean in the front.
Enough for the front lets talk about the part of the lane where this ball will blow your mind - the back! I saw this ball literally stop and put its left turn signal on. It makes one of the strongest and I guess steepest moves I have seen. I mean it came back from any spot on the lane with any ball speed I could muster up. If you read my Kinetic review you know I love that ball and it did hook a lot on the back as well. But this was different hook. This was more but in a different way.
This is definitely a ball worth trying especially if you need one of the strongest overall ball motions offered today.

Track Bowling’s The Rising is the most forgiving ball I’ve drilled in a while. My first ball out the box with it was a 289. I drilled this ball with the 2” VAL drilling as stated on www.trackbowling.com and applied Ebonite Factory Finish Polish to the coverstock. From what I’ve noticed, compared to the standard drilling, it rolls harder in the back, while the standard drilling tends to flip harder. For this reason, once the area you are playing starts to burn up, it makes it difficult to move in and still get the ball to get back. If playing the lanes a little straighter is your game this ball with this drilling will not disappoint you. If your game is playing around the lane, then the standard drilling is what you will want to use. This ball will be in my bag for quite sometime because it will make the most difficult of patterns looks easy, with its smooth roll and forgiving nature.

It's been a long time since Track produced a true piece for heavy oil. Until the Rising came. It may somewhat look like the old Critical Mass, but after one throw you know this is not the case. With a PAP of 4 1/4 right, 1/4 down, I decided to go with Tracks' recommended layout.
I've never seen a ball go so long and smooth down the lane, yet have the insane backend that the Rising provides at 4000 grit. I would consider my self to be a somewhat high-speed(18 mph), and definitely high-rev(425+) kind of bowler. With that said, the Rising still doesn't(or at least not yet) die out or stop making that strong left turn towards the pocket. I've since taken it down to 1000 for even more predictability and control on the heaviest oil.
But, every ball has a downside. If the lanes are broken down, or even completely dry, then you're in alot of trouble. But then again, who in their right mind would try using any ball with this kind of surface on the dry?
Add the Kinetic Energy to that, and you have a strong 1-2 punch!

If you can't get this ball to hook you need to quit bowling. I've thrown the Rising using the recommended layout and didn't like the reaction, too much skid flip for my personal taste, so i had the pin 1" from my PAP and the CG 2 and 1/2" from my PAP. The reaction came out pretty close to what i was looking for, good skid with predictable hook, plus some forgiveness.
I took it to nationals this year and shot a 260 with it in doubles! The heads got too dry to use it in singles though. The only aspect of the Rising i don't like is the fact that i can't throw it on any of the house shots without swinging the ball a ton. Besides that its a great ball and i'm suprised by the skid it gets.

This is the worst bowling ball I have ever thrown. This ball dies on the backend on every shot. Every shot it's completely weak. Throwing a 200 is nearly impossible with this ball. Several times I left a 7-10 split when I shot right in the pocket. Unbelievable. Wouldn't recommend for a lot of people. Most people that I talk to dislike it. However, there are a few that like it. Simply put, DON'T buy it. Get the Up-Rising instead.

At first when I got this ball, it was alright. The guy who drilled it has been drilling his and others stuff for about 10 years, so I trusted he did a good job. This ball got more damage than any ball I've ever seen, I understand it might me the center's fault, but it happened at three different centers! I ended up giving it away about a month after I left a 5-7-10 with it, realizing that it just wasn't doing it.

Very disappointed, do not like the reaction at all. I tried again and again with the coverstock. I have had some of the guys tell me that it is how it is laid out in relation to my track. The guy who drills balls at my center is fairly new and only does it part time, he went to a weekend IBPSIA seminar and came back a pro. Guess not. But I did have it plugged at another shop and it still rolls bad. After reading some of the reviews and articles here at bowlingball.com I got the Roto Cell, now that is great.

The Rising is the first ball out of my bag in virtually all tournaments and leagues because its reaction is so readable, and lets me know immediately if it is the right ball for the condition. It is smooth through the heads and mid-lane and reads the back part of the lane perfectly to allow immediate adjustments ... AND, it hits harder than any ball I have ever owned. My first sanctioned game with it was a 300 (after one game of practice), and since then I have had another 300, and 802 series with it. Bowled 2255 scratch in our city tournament using this ball only (plus a spare ball). My PAP is 5-1/2 over and 3/4 up, relatively low-rev, medium to high speed, with about a 60-degree release, and this ball complements my release perfectly.
I have two, the first drilled with the "standard" drilling in box condition (4000 Abralon) and the other with 4" drilling from PAP (2000 Abralon). Both hit incredibly hard, but the 4" plays well when the first starts leaving corner pins. It also allows me to move further left and swing the ball out, knowing it will almost always recover.
This ball speaks for itself, but I recommend it to everyone.
The only problem, as a proshop operator, is the low top weight in all of these balls I have drilled so far, especially if you use finger/thumb inserts. Keep your finger and thumb holes as shallow as possible, and if a weight hole is required to remove excess side weight, it should be located as far from the center of grip as possible, without affecting the track, to avoid removing top weight. (My 4" drilling required a balance hole, which I put 6-3/4" right of my center of grip. This maintained 1/2 once of top weight, with fingers and thumb drilled as shallow as fingertips and thumb would allow.)
