Introducing Ebonite The One - leading the way in the new high performance series from Ebonite. And The One doesn't waste anytime getting to the point. With the advanced GB-10.7 coverstock, the veneer shell absorbs oil at an astounding rate. This translates into more direct contact with the lane surface and a higher degree of friction as the ball exits the oil pattern. The result is a lightning quick turn straight to the pocket. With one roll you'll agree, this is The One for you.

The Perfect Scale™: Helping Bowlers Make Better Decisions. Because each manufacturer uses a different method for indicating a ball's hook potential, bowlingball.com developed a way for the consumer to compare bowling balls across all manufacturers.

Preferred Spin Axis to PAP Distance: 3 3/4"
Balance Hole: None
Surface Preparation: Box Condition

What I Was Looking For in this Ball and Layout:

I wanted to end up with a moderately aggressive ball that would cover some boards, play left to right angles extremely well, and have a quick transition or breakpoint down lane.

What I Ended Up With in this Ball and Layout:

This ball ended up being exactly what I had hoped it would be with regards to front-end skid. The ball clears the front of the lane relatively easy on any medium to higher amount of head oil. Also, the One seems to be good about letting the bowler know when there is not enough head oil to throw the ball. The reaction and shape that I get from this ball when the heads are too dry to throw it is totally different. It's very obvious when to throw the One with regards to head oil.

The breakpoint move that I get is also very typical for me with this layout. By moving the pin into a somewhat weaker position, I've helped the ball get through the front part of the lane easier. By placing the preferred spin axis in a fairly strong position, I still see a strong and sudden move down lane when the ball encounters friction. When given sufficient head oil, the One responds to the end of the lane pattern very quickly and creates large angles into the pin deck for my game.

The overall hook of my One ball is stronger than most balls. In relation to the other balls on this site, the One is considerably stronger than both the Big Time and Overtime reviewed on June 3rd, 2006. Compared to the Big One (also reviewed on June 3rd), the One is easier to push through the front of the lane but covers a similar number of boards.

The Ebonite The One is awesome. You have to be very drill specific and there is no way this ball will work on dry lanes. If you want a ball for medium to heavy oil with massive backend this is your ball.

The Ebonite The One is great. Everything you have heard is true. You don't have to put a lot of revs on it for it to work. I don't have a lot of revs and it still had a lot of hook, not to mention the backend, the most I have seen. If you are looking for a good bowling ball that is consistent The One is your bowling ball.

Well...I think everyone reviewing on here doesn't know how to take care of a ball. I just bought the Ebonite The One bowling ball for $50 off of my friend's uncle. I throw this ball at 20 mph (stroker) and it snaps back when it looks like a straight ball. When I bought the ball, the guy said it was "dead" so naturally I took it home and bathed it, then too it out on oil just a few minutes ago and shot like crazy. I didn't have a game with under 6 strikes. I would highly recommend this ball to anyone looking for very late snap, although if you aren't diligent about cleaning and bathing (or baking if you're willing to risk it) then steer clear and go back to your Power Groove.

I agree with ebonitebowltowin. I recently was in a senior tournament. On the dry lanes it was hard to hold. On the two lanes with oil, it worked very well. If you need an oil ball, this is "the One".

I recieved this ball as a hand-me-down and for 2 months it hit great and hooked very nicely. But then it began to wear out, cleaning after cleaning didnt help. I say if you are lookin to get this ball, do it. But be ready for a LOT of maintenance.

Nice ball for a medium oil condition, nothing too heavy. Goes down and makes a little left hand turn into the pocket, nothing drastic, but a stronger move than an arc. Good ball for spares, too. After a couple of years, it stopped hooking as much, even when I lowered my back swing and put it down earlier than normal. I recently had the ball resurfaced and it's as good as new again. This is a great ball, my first Ebonite ball in 35+ years of bowling.

This ball is awesome. It has so much backed to it. It is unbelievable. As soon as it hits the dry it explodes leaving nothing in its way. I have also taken it on the soft flat shot and I have to say polished it does great. Even thought it has a lot of backend. Now I am plugging it and I am going to drill it with even more backend with the mass bias kicked out. Another thing Ebonite is a damn genius at creating cores. The GB10.7 is a good coverstock in the way it handles oil. I recommend this ball for any one bowling in tournaments with heavy oil.
