This bowling ball is a good ball for beginners wanting a hook. I was bowling barely a 100 then when I got it I started bowling 160-170 a game. I highly recommend it.

GREAT STARTER BALL!!! The Columbia Scout Reactive Blue/Gold bowling ball was recommended to me by my pro shop as a starter ball. I've been bowling for about 6 months and this ball has taken me from a 100 average to a 150 average. It breaks 3 - 5 boards with a stroker shot and breaks 8 to 10 boards with a tweener style and less speed. Hitting power and carry could be a little better but overall it has been a great ball to learn the fundamentals of the game.

To everyone who reads the reviews on the Columbia Scout Reactive Blue/Gold bowling ball... Please ignore the guy that complained about how this ball hooks. He's trying to compare this $60 ball with a perfect scale rating of 82, with a $130 ball with a perfect scale rating of 202. You can't do that! This ball is a great entry level ball. It's very economically priced, and if you use good form, you can get a good hook out of it. This guy says that his high game was only 212... HELLO?! THIS IS AN ENTRY LEVEL BALL!! Chances are the people that would buy this ball would love to be able to get a 212. You simply can NOT compare a entry level ball with a high end ball. Because of that, there is serious doubt that he knows the difference between an entry Level ball, and a high end ball.

The Scout Reactive bowling balls are great entry level balls. I've been using one now for about a year and I carry about mid 180's with it. I don't have a super amount hook but it's a good ball to learn the basics of the game and learn how to create a hook. Also good to learn good form and so forth. If you can get that ball to hook about 10 to 15 boards all the time then once you move up to a high performence ball then you should be able to create a great amount of power into the pocket all the time.

I bought this ball and a Columbia Rival, hoping to have something to up my scores in league play (which is semi-oiled) and last through the night when the lanes tend to dry up quickly at my house.. I have around a 200 average and I knew when I BOUGHT it as a regular bowler that it wasn't going to hook as much as a high performance ball, which should be obvious to anyone.. it does exactly what I need it to do with my speed/rev rate and the conditions I need it for
I found one after I started bowling with it, and back then slow speed and low revs was me, so it would fit a new bowler perfectly.. if you KNOW what your getting, and how you bowl

I am new to league play and, I have been using this ball about 4 months because I wanted to learn how to throw a hook. My average has risen 1 or 2 points every week. In league play my best game was a 165 in heavy oil, but in practice on medium oil I bowled 207, 219, and 221! This is a good ball to learn the fundamentals of bowling. I am ready to move up to mid level ball, but I am keeping the Columbia 300 Scout Reactive Blue/Gold as a spare ball because it holds down the lane well.

Before I got the Columbia Scout Reactive Blue/Gold bowling ball, I never had one of my own. Using house balls and those of friends, my average hovered around 120. I just got the 15 lb Scout Reactive fingertip drilled and my average is 193. Great starter ball.

The Columbia Scout Reactive Blue/Gold bowling ball is the worst starter ball ever! Go with Brunswick's Groove Urethane! It's so much better! In every game it outscores my Scout by so many pins your head will explode!!

I couldn't stand the Columiba Scout Reactive Blue/Gold. This ball didn't hook. I pretty much hated it, it was so bad, my high game was only 212. When I had this I was 12 and then I got Ebonite's The Big One bowling ball, the first time I went bowling with it I bowled a 623 series and a week ago I bowled a 279 , DO NOT GET THE SCOUT REACTIVE.
